    Happy Father's Day!

If you're a father, it's your special day today. If you aren't a father and your own father isn't around, maybe you know someone who is a father.

Ah Yes, I really need to report my most recent adventures and activities!

But for now: The youngin helped me celebrate Father's Day. The first thing she did was make sure that Cathy made me a nice breakfast (the youngin was not available for this) and I quite enjoyed it as I am the usual breakfast maker in the house.

Later she presented me with a fine gift in the form of a Framed Photo of the Youngin herself and one of the household cats! Said photo is right here on my computer desk where I can gaze adoringly at the subjects whenever I am not gazing adoringly at them in real life !

Early afternoon said youngin made me a delightful lunch in the form of an Asian. vegetarian, stir-fry.

Reclaiming the kitchen Cathy produced a nice steak and shrimp dinner as the youngin and I entertained ourselves with an odd but fun board game (Illimat).

I phoned my elderly father and spent some time wishing him a happy father's day. I had visited with him the day before.

The evening consisted of a watching a few episodes of a comedy series about two elderly Scottish fellows whom I want to call gentlemen but their frequent employ of foul language suggest some other term might be more accurately descriptive. ("Still Game" on netflix)

And there it was...Another Father's Day in the record books.

OMG I forgot about the card...

So, the Youngin gets me a card and really got a laugh out of me.

The front has a cute little cartoon squirrel saying, "Dad, I'll never forget all the advice you gave me..."

Inside says, "...especially when you said, "You should never...something,something or you might...blah,blah,blah."

            Kids can be so heart-warming!

Sounds as if you had a very nice Father's Day, Brian. It's good to know fathers are appreciated. They're probably undervalued everywhere.

"Still Game," eh? Foul-mouthed Scottish guys? Did you ever watch "The Thick of It"? Peter Capaldi plays a very foul-mouthed Scottish guy. It wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea politically speaking.

"The Thick of It" with Peter Capaldi you say? If memory serves,as it so frequently does not, Peter not only plays a foul mouthed Scotsman on tv but is one in real life!

Thank you for the tip. With it here written down I can be sure to look into it at my leisure. I vaguely know Peter as a stand-up comedian (I think I didn't care for his act) and one of the Dr. Who(s), a program which Cathy had in the past watched with almost religious fervor.

We've taken in a fair bit of British programing; all of the Miss Marples, Father Brown, The Vicar of Dibley, Dr. Who, Red Dwarf, Vera and you name a British murder mystery Cathy has either watched it or wants to watch it!

I'm a big fan of "Vera." Also watched "Endeavour," "New Tricks," "George Gently," and "Unforgotten." I don't watch them when they're running on TV--I wait for them to be available as DVDs, then rent a season from the library or Netflix.

I'm a cat daddy, and have been all my life. So I am going to treat myself to some food being delivered. I went with Chinese today. I can't wait!

Cat daddies count! After all, you're serving up the meals and providing the roof over the head of that cat who might be out on the streets prowling in dumpsters and starving otherwise.

Most people wouldn't want to bother. I don't know how many times I've heard things like this:

                    "Cats??? Oh, I HATE cats!"

"Yes, cats are nice but I don't want the bother."

"I couldn't stand dealing with the litter box."

"I don't want my furniture and curtains all wrecked."

"Cats can't or won't take orders. Give me a dog any day. It will obey me. I want a servant, not a live-in monarch."

I love cats...obviously. I've had a bunch over the years. I've even had 3 at one time. They are all such individuals, each very different from another. I use the clumping litter, so the litter box is a breeze. A dog, you have to let outside, and then go out and pick up the poop, or the neighbors will complain. Give me a litter box any day!

Around here the dog people can't just let their dogs out. They have to have their dogs on a leash and accompany them to wherever the dogs choose to relieve themselves, and follow up with the doggy bag. Actually there's even a special part of this building's yard set aside for the dogs. And a supply of doggy bags is provided.

Edited to add: A dog walker just went by my window. It's 106' out there. Dog owners don't have an easy life.

Today's forecast is for 115'. Maybe only 112', depending on which forecast authority you look at. Either way, it will be record-breaking.
