    Keep on Moving: September 2021

MS creates some real challenges to keep on moving. It helps to inspire each other on how to find ways to move.

Did you stretch in your bed, swing your arms, roll side to side today? Or perhaps you did housework? Or exercised in a pool? Tracked your count of steps? Chased your cat around the home? Pushed the wheelchair wheels with your arms at the store? Post them here and we can support and egg each other on.

REMEMBER: this is a keep on moving thread, not keep on exercising! Any moving is important it doesnt have to be exercise! Even Science proves that

Thank you for starting this thread, Sunshine!

I ran across this exercise that some people might want to do, for core strengthening. You need a medium-sized ball but you can do it while sitting.

Average number of daily steps in August for me (based on 27 days): 1,467

Better than the previous 3 months.

          Terrific agate!

I swam today. Yesterday was the first day I was able to walk again at the end of the day more than 376 steps. Perhaps not a coincidence that it was teh same day that the olfactory distortion of wafts of fish odor faded.

Have had some severe increase in spasticity, and can barely walk mor than 150 steps at the end of the day. I will try a mild swim tomorrow. I am worsening and the pump has not yet kicked in either.

Too bad, Sunshine! Were you told that there might be a wait before the pump kicked in? Does the spasticity tend to act up when there's something else going on, like an infection? Hope you'll be feeling better soon.

Sunshine, sorry to hear this. I thought the pump would kick in right away and then be adjusted as needed. Was I wrong in my thinking?

They inch up the amount of the pump is the conservative approach. Too fast and you risk hypotonia and thus breathing issues. I also think I mi n a flare.

I figured the board was having issues. I couldn't get in yesterday, but there was a marathon of the Star Trek films on Comet channel, so I wasn't bored.

Glad you survived yet another bit of down time, Howie.

Might be good if there could be a few qualified people on tap for backup during times when Mike is overloaded. I'm not sure where such people can be found though.

Agate, great step count as usual.

So glad Howie survived with the help of his Star Trek films again. I miss everyone when we are down.
