Virginia, my bf doesn’t iron either. No ironing goes on in our house! My mom was visiting once and asked where my iron was. I don’t have one!

Ah, those visiting moms! It does sound as if ironing is about to go out of style in general.

I'll bet that if I visited my son and DIL and looked around, I wouldn't find an iron. I strongly suspect that if I asked where their iron was, the answer would be "Our what?"

Or maybe it would be: "We take several supplements but iron isn't one of them."

Ah, you non-ironers! I actually don't mind ironing and find that many of my clothes need ironing--not just a need for a touchup but seriously wrinkled clothes emerging from the laundry even though I smooth them out and hang them up promptly so as to cut down on ironing.

flatcap, if you've ironed men's shirts, you can iron anything else. I recall learning to iron men's shirts from my mother so that I could take over the task of ironing my father's shirts. Far more involved than most other ironing.

I remember having trouble with the sleeves and cuffs, but the body and collar were relatively easy.

Being a perfectionist, I didn't care how long it took me to get the sleeves and cuffs right, but sometimes I would steam them until they were dripping wet and have to hang-dry the shirt and let them dry. Then, I would try again until I got them right.

Right, that is, if I didn't give up. I have vague memories of going though various contortions born of frustration and doing just that. lol

Nowadays, I mainly wear long-sleeve, medium-weight cotton t-shirts and Levi's 501s. I don't need an iron for those of course, so I don't have one. I do have one button-down shirt but haven't worn it since 1917....um, 2017. lol

Agate, I am with you as far as enjoying seeing freshly ironed clothes all nicely hung in the closet. I love nice cotton blouses but I have to have them ironed and I use spray starch on most all my blouses which takes a little longer. Do you starch any of your blouses?

Ikoiko, I remember that your bf does everything, so I assumed that included ironing.

Flatcap, doesn't all this talk of ironing kind of make you nostalgic for the days when you did a little of. It?

I recently said to someone I know that, if I could, I would go back to 1975.

Yesterday was a red-letter day!

Received my new computer speakers and set everything up, so now I'm ready to rock out again.

Also finally got my laundry done! A regular miracle, I tell you. Now, I'm good for two or three weeks.

Congratulations on your new computer speakers and even more for getting them set up. My brother bought me a new smart tv and I am having a hard time getting the audio on it right for me. I made a mistake and adjusted the equalizer on it and I haven't the faintest idea how to do that. Some day when I get time I will go into u-tube and watch a video.

Virginia, congratulations on the smart tv. I'll look around and find out what an equalizer is. I have an older TV that isn't smart. In fact it seems pretty stupid, but it's probably just that I'm too stupid to figure out the instruction manual. I'm just happy if I get a picture and sound. There are some fancy settings I could get involved with but I just ignore them. The owner's manual seems to be written in tech-speak. I just haven't kept up with the times.

Sometimes I'm getting audio in Spanish, and I do try to correct that.

My brother brought over a long box that sits in front of my TV. It is a Samsung Sound Bar. I have adjusted the base on it, but I don't know if after I adjust it it doesn't set and maybe reverts back. The sound would be perfect except that I get a low boom sound on certain things. You know the boom, boom that is so popular now. It is not that loud, but I don't like it in there at all. Sometime when some people are talking it is not there, but right now I have it on Anderson Cooper and it is there. My brother use to have a sound business where he dealt in car stereos and things like that. He tunes things to what he thinks is perfect, but it might not be perfect to me. I don't want to say anything because he lives so far and has been over here about every day for a week. I will keep working with it. This might be partly my fault. I have not been good about keeping my hands off the remote or maybe I should say remotes because I have one for the TV and one for the Sound Bar.

Once again I'll demonstrate how far behind the times I am by saying that I have only a very foggy idea of what a sound bar does.
Somehow I have the impression that the TVs being produced now tend to have sound problems, and so people have been getting sound bars to "enhance" the sound quality --? It seems like one more instance of a product being sold in such a way that features you'd have expected to have with the product have to be bought as extras.

I've prattled on about this before: Lamps being sold but you need to buy the lampshade separately. Pajamas being sold but you buy them in two parts--tops and then bottoms. Now is it TVs being sold but if you want decent sound, you buy a sound bar?

I've seen sound bars and they look like one more thing to collect dust and need occasional repair but then I'm suspicious of routers, modems, etc., anything with a cord on it.

They're all little horrors.

Virginia, if there's any kind of manual with the sound bar, it might be worth your while to find out what it says. You might be able to adjust it in a way that would give you better sound.

But nowadays you often have to go to the manufacturer's Website and look up the instruction manual, which you can then download and even print out. That might be worth while too if there isn't a booklet or leaflet included.

I wouldn't want to put up with a boom sound--while watching Anderson Cooper or anyone else.

Agate, you have to go to the website and print out instructions for the TV and the Sound Bar. My brother called me tonight and I told him the picture wasn't as clear and good as it was before he bought the Sound Bar. It had a great picture, but it doesn't now. He moved the Wi-Fi from the floor to the top of my computer hutch. I told him I wanted it moved back. He still maintains it is just the way it should be - now! Maybe it's the router he put up high. I don't know one from the other. All I know is they were both on the floor in my office and he now has one on the floor and one on top of the hutch. The reason he did this was because I have really good speed in my office, but according to him it is slow in the living room. I kept telling him I didn't notice it being slow. He is a perfectionist about these things and quite frankly if the picture looks good and the sound is good then in my opinion that's sufficient.

Agate, he did tell me he printed out the instructions to the TV, but says you can't read it. He probably meant it was in Chinese or had diagrams or something like that.

Some of those manuals are terribly hard to write--the print is tiny, and often the material is so poorly written that you can't figure out what is meant. I always insist on trying anyway, just in case I'll be able to fix some problem or other without having to do anything more complicated (like replacing an item or calling in a repair person).

Your brother may just be a bit tired of working on the problem, unless he's one of those people who genuinely enjoy tinkering with gadgets. You might want to try figuring the thing out yourself but I know how daunting that is.

My TV has several problems that are probably correctable but I've let them go for years, mainly because I just hate dealing with that user's manual. It's full of terms that aren't explained.
