Flatcap, I agree. It's rather demeaning to suddenly find oneself laying up against a door that isn't very close to where you had been sitting, and then later find you have shattered the stand that holds one of your plants. I wouldn't tell this to a lot of people other than my family and people on here. I know that many of you have had a similar experience.

Agate, maybe December just isn't our best month. Two years ago in December is when I had to go to the hospital because I had pneumonia, and then was in rehab.

I am alright and I am already scheduled to have a telemed appointment with the doctor's NA in January. I am more sore today than yesterday. All around my elbow is red and there is a small cut on it where I hit it against something. Also there are some bruises on my legs and I am using lotion on the areas of my body that were chapped due to sliding across the carpet to get to the stairs. But nothing broken. I have done some exercises today.

You are right about me knowing every inch of this place, at least on the lower floor. I can walk through it with no lights on though I confess it is no longer a good idea.

Ikoiko, I hope your BF was able to get your on demand working. It is so aggravating to plan on watching something that you really want to see and then not be able to do it because the TV or cable messes up.

I hope everyone has a good New Year's Eve. Anyone expecting fireworks? We don't get many in this neighbourhood and I am glad.

Virginia, I always thought I could figure out whether I had a broken bone but twice now I've been wrong and had breaks I didn't know I had. It might be a good idea to see a doctor in person, although there are times when just getting to and from that doctor might be more of a problem than staying home and toughing it out. Those bruises do have a way of turning up days later. This may have been "just another MS fall" with no major damage done. It sounds as if you're getting along OK unless you're sparing us some of the details.

The fireworks haven't started here yet but they're almost sure to be sounding in a few hours. If I remove the hearing aids, they are muffled somewhat but each one is still a jolt, shaking the walls.

Ikoiko, flatcap, Virginia, and anyone else who is reading here, enjoy a safe and happy New Year's Eve!

        Happy New Year's Eve, everyone!

The fireworks started early tonight in our neighborhood. People began setting them off around 5:00 PM, and they're still at it. You won't hear any for a while, then you'll hear a bunch of them. The noise doesn't bother me much, but I do worry about the fire hazard. I would be more comfortable if people just went to see one of the fireworks shows.

Ikoiko, I saw Oppenheimer. The soundtrack is atrocious, and I don't mean the music. I could hardly hear the dialog over the seemingly incessant, often booming background track. I had to replay many parts over and over and still couldn't discern what was said. This happened so many times, it took some effort to get through the entire 3-hour film without giving up.

There is a lot more in Oppenheimer to criticize, such as the casting, but I will just add that I am glad I didn't have to pay to watch it. If you have a chance to see it, I hope you get more out of it than I did, particularly if it costs you any money.

The other day I latched onto a streaming version of a movie called Oppenheimer, but it turned out to be a documentary about him, not the fictionalized version that is enjoying considerable notice. I found it to be very informative and decided I didn't want to see the Oppenheimer everyone is watching. I don't much like fictionalized biographies. "Just the facts, ma'am," as Sergeant Friday often said on Dragnet, if anyone remembers that.

This was the Oppenheimer I saw:

One of them was on here. I am not sure which one. I didn't catch the first part so I decided not to watch it. It probably would have been good if I could have watched from the beginning.

I didn't hear a single firecracker. Good, I don't mind them that much, but I didn't mind missing them either.

            HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL!!!!

Agate, I'm with you on movies of this type, although a few of them haven't been too bad. One that comes to mind is Patton (1970). I always thought that was a good one.

Thank you for the reference to Oppenheimer: The Real Story (2023). I found it on one of the movie sites I frequent and plan to watch it. I've seen more than one like it on the subject, but all of them have had something new to offer. I imagine this one is no exception.

I thought Patton was well done too.

Users at IMDb had mixed reactions to the Oppenheimer documentary, apparently. Some thought it was terrible as a documentary. I'm no authority on documentaries but thought it gave a balanced presentation of Oppenheimer, sympathetic but not overly so. Just my opinion though.
