Hmmm... well, it's likely that you will find Vitamin D and Calcium in just about any supplemental "nutrition." Jon's formula has both, as well as other necessary nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. It's considered "complete" nutrition with these things added to it.

The only way that I can think of to avoid Vit. D and calcium is to eat real, whole food. Organic veggies and fruits, organic meat, if you eat meat or poultry, and avoid dairy products and any foods, with Vit. D or calcium naturally occurring in them.

This is where a one on one with a professional nutritionist would be very helpful for you ~ to point out the proper foods and help you plan menus.

Even if you get a G tube, which I know you don't want, but I will tell you now is no big deal and can be removed quite easily and serve only a temporary purpose, the formula you will be given will contain Vit. D and calcium. They all do. If you did a blenderized diet of real whole food you could control that. But you don't need a Gtube to eat properly, unless you have swallowing issues.

Perhaps you need to contact your nutritionist to help you through this, Abby. She's the expert.

      Love & Light,

Well the Orgain drink is a no go. I did talk to the doctor about D and Calcium in it and she said it would be nothing compared to the 50,000 I had been taking so 'drink it' and I tried to drink it it doesn't taste bad but way overload for this 50 pound body and it made me sick and now I can't even come near it. Now I'm back to square one, but still working on detoxing the liver.

Back to having no appetite now drats!

My guess is that as you've lost all of this weight, your stomach has shrunk, and you are probably not able to tolerate large quantities of food at one time. Your digestive system may be unable to accept too much nutrition at once, as your motility and absorption rates may be out of kilter.

You might want to consider starting with small portions several times a day. If you decide to try Orgain again, perhaps you could drink a small amount of it every half hour, or whatever you find that your body can manage.

I strongly suspect that you need to eat small amounts frequently throughout the day, although I'm not a professional or expert, by any means. I've just done a ton of research for my boys, as well as have experienced malnutrition with both of them and the remedies for that condition.

For example, we discovered the hard way through trying different types of feeding for Jon that he couldn't manage real food in a blenderized diet, nor large quantities of formula at one time. He is relegated now to a feeding pump with his Gtube and formula which gives him 90 cc an hour. It takes a total of 18 hours for him to consume 1500 calories/day.

It's possible that your body reacted poorly to one or more ingredients in Orgain. If it contains anything that you haven't eaten previously, one of those things could have made you ill.

I suggest that you start with foods that you know you like and enjoy, just so you can get some nutrition in your system. Perhaps you could do some internet research on how to stimulate your appetite by eating foods in a certain order.

Once again, I encourage you to consult your nutritionist to guide you toward regaining your heath. You need an expert to direct you in what foods to eat, how much, how often, what foods to avoid, etc. That's what her expertise is, so avail yourself of it.

Smaller portions, more frequently, consult your nutritionist.

Wishing you healthy eating and weight gain ~
