So sorry things didn't work out better for you, Tim! It's hard to come out well in any litigation, or at least that's been my experience. The lawyers have a way of manipulating the system to their advantage but not necessary to mine.

Yes,any hint of anything resembling a mental or emotional problem can make a person really vulnerable.

I watch a lot of detective dramas from the UK and have the impression that the legal/judicial system there has its very unfair and corrupt features, though they may be somewhat different compared to the US.

I knew deep down things weren't going to go as well I'd hoped, after seeing the two 'experts'. There was a huge gulf between their interpretation of things and my lived experience, re how things were prior to the falls - and how they've been after the falls. Quoting the solicitor -
We are guided by our experts who advise that your current physical condition is not as a consequence of the negligence, therefore, you claim is limited to a few weeks of avoidable pain and suffering
.The reality? Prior to the falls I took an occasional pain killer. Now I'm on at least 4 Codeine a day(15mg s x4)for something the psychiatric expert believed is psychologically, rather than physically based.

The codeine doesn't sound like something I would want. I hope it's helping you. I reacted badly to it the one time I had it--prescribed after 3rd molar extractions years ago. Ever since then my medical records show I react badly to codeine.

Yesterday I was having dental work done for over an hour and a half. The broken tooth was finally treated, after 7 weeks of waiting, and there was much drilling and filing going on, and then molds ('impressions") had to be made for a crown that I wait for, in addition to a denture modification that I should have had done years ago.

For the next 11 days (I'm counting them) I have to eat only soft food and try not to disturb a temporary crown that was put in place. I'm trying to figure out how to get the right amount of protein, fiber, potassium, etc., in this soft diet. I was planning to exist partly on peanut butter but they said nothing sticky.. I'm down to yogurt, eggs, soggy cereal, oatmeal, bananas and over-cooked vegetables but it's not really so very different from what I usually eat. I do miss pizza, toast, muffins, crackers, and peanut butter.

It's been about a dozen years since I had to have any big dental work (big = expensive) and I'm out of the habit of incurring those huge expenses. But as we age, we wear out. Not an enjoyable thought.

On a more cheerful note, yesterday while in transit I actually saw a row of daffodils in full bloom.

The codeinee helps to a certain degree, not perfectly. You did well having your dental work done. I'm fairly clueless about nutrition, but it seems you know quite a lot about it. What pizza do you like? I like seafood, ham and pineapple, ham and mushroom, anchovies +chillis +capers(not really hot chillis) pizzas . Have you ever tried peanut better with bacon? Skippy smooth peanut butter is still my favourite peanut butter. I've had some 'strange' experiences recently. Toothache type pains, except I've got no teeth!

I watched part of the video and hope to watch the rest of it soon--I used to try my hand at quilting and am looking forward to seeing the rest of it.

As for pizza, I don't eat meat and so am limited to cheese pizzas but am particular about getting a spicier one. Peanut butter has to be the "natural" kind that is stirred first but I like the Adams brand. Maranatha is good but pricier. I had to revise my diet years ago, and have some limitations on what I eat.

Agate, are you vegan or just vegetarian? I've had several attempts at eating more vegetarian food. They've been total disasters/failures. The food items having a horrible taste. A problem for me is that I only like small amounts of beans and pulses. Lentils are a total NO EAT. I tried dry soya mince. I didn't like it at all, after doing what needed to be done.

I'm what's called a lacto-ovo-vegetarian and so am not nearly as limited as many nonmeat-eaters are. Some of the vegetarian specialties don't appeal to me either. I can't stand edamame, for instance, but lentil soup and split pea soup are OK. I've developed a liking for tofu when it's in some frozen meals. Cheese, eggs, yogurt are a large part of my diet.

When I can chew again, I hope to go back to 4-cheese pizzas, for instance.

I love split pea soup when it's made with lots of bacon and/or ham. Right now I'm cooking three big pieces of beef soup bones to make some broth of vegetable soup. Yesterday I made a big batch of broccoli salad to take to my sister, my cousin, and my nephew. That took 1 1/2 pounds of bacon. I love meat.

jingle, it's nice to hear from you. You must be much appreciated by the people you're cooking for.

When you make broccoli salad, is that with uncooked broccoli? I used to put broccoli and cauliflower in salads but I did blanch them first. Not sure that was necessary.

Yes, that's raw broccoli. And I add some raw cauliflower, grapes, onion, almonds and lots of bacon. The dressing is simply some mayo, vinegar and sugar. The recipe calls for raisins but I don't like them so I just leave .'em out.

I enjoy meat, but could do pretty well on vegetables if I went to the store frequently and chose them myself. I do like broccoli salad, but had not heard of it being fixed with bacon or ham in it. Jingle that takes a lot of standing on one's feet.

Tim, thanks for the article on MS research. I found it very interesting. I might would consider stopping my MS more quickly if I had not had optic neuritis. That scares me so much, and my eyesight is already bad. What is most frightening about it is the fact that you may not get your sight back even if you restart treatment.

Agate, I had to take a few days away. I was on 7 days of antibiotics. The doctor thought the place on my face that I hurt back on January 13th might have an infection. Apparently it didn't since the antibiotics did nothing for my face, but made me very sick. I think the next step is a surgeon will have to cut on it to see what is going on. I am worn out with this.

Yesterday I went to a birthday party for a 2 year old. It was nice but I was so uncomfortable that I was just glad to get hone. My face is very uncomfortable all the time. It was funny to watch the 3 year old brother likes someone to play with him and entertain him and the just turned 2 year old just plays with toys and entertainments himself. My brother picked me up and brought me home. I am worn out today just from going. It is almost better to stay home.

Pea and ham soup is one of my favourite soups.Preferably made with smoked bacon and/or smoked ham. I like meat, but due to currently having no teeth I can struggle to eat it. I like most vegetables ,including sprouts, but don't eat nearly enough of them. I buy frozen veg, usually mixed veg.. Fresh veg is better, but not suited to a single person doing once a week online grocery shopping. I quite like cheese. The milder varieties, rather than those with a strong flavour.

I agree that fresh vegetables are not very practical if you shop once a week for just one person, especially on line. I have just found out I can shop at Whole Foods for $9.99 per month if I spend $35.00 each time. I used to enjoy shopping in there when I could go in person. I don't know what it is like now since it has been several years since I have been able to get in that store. It is kind of a speciality store and sometimes has some good things but it is also more expensive.

I don't mind paying a bit more for a food item if the quality is good. The trouble is supposedly highly quality products are often not very high quality.

Virginia, that's really a shame about your face. Those falls can really mess up a person's life for a long time. I hope that some answers can be found soon. No better after 10 days of antibiotics--that is surely discouraging. And the antibiotics made you sick--you've been having a very rough time.

jingle, you mentioned not wanting raisins in the salad. I used to put a few dried cranberries in salads--I think the brand name was "craisins" because they were the size and shape of raisins.

Tim, you have no teeth? That must be difficult, to put it mildly~
