Gary, hearty congratulations on the new house. How long before you can sleep in there?

We may sell our two houses (his is not paid off yet-ha!) for a slightly bigger one. He has a lot of books and CDS and size 12 shoes. Thus, we need more space! It will not happen quickly. It would be great if we could build one w all the "bells & whistles we could afford." Enjoy.

Congratulations on your new home, Gary. That is so exciting! You both deserve all the bells and whistles just for surviving such heartbreaking tragedy, not to mention surviving the building "experience" and still be married to each other!
      It's huge.

The county government makes it so difficult to build here, in California. Had we known earlier what we know now, we might not have taken on this building project . . . but we're in too deep to throw it all away now. We both want and need a home that will work for both of us now, and in the future.
At great expense, we included an attendant's quarters (for a live-in), tracking for a lift, a roll in shower, ect., to the plan because of my ever increasing disability. A bit more than simple "aging in place" adjustments, but as painful as it is, I have to be realistic about what the MonSter is doing to me. Hopefully we'll be "permitted" soon and can actually start building, that is, if we have any money left after the countless fees are paid. ArGh!!

      Congrats to Ann too . . . paid . . . such a nice sounding word!

Renee, I have a barfy old cat too. So nice to get up in the morning to a pile of . . . oh yeah . . . . . . love that old cat.

Howie, thinking of you. Thanks Agate for letting us know what's up.
      Hello to everyone else too.

Sal, she's one pretty girl, that GD of yours . . . and Ddog is just plain cute!

Stress is taking me down the tough road these days. Went to the doc last week cuz I've got an infection inside my big toe and a skin infection on the outside too. Coupled with the super poor circulation in my legs/feet, it looks (and feels) pretty nasty. To add insult to injury, my body is currently rebelling about something with an outbreak of sorts that feels and looks like poison oak from head to toe. . . so I'm itching and oozing all over. How's that for a pretty picture?! Antibiotics and allergy meds . . . well see.

The forum is missing so many peeps these days . . . where did all the regular posters go? Anyone seen Vicky?

:) Nuthatch you might try putting 100% pure honey on any open sores. I read about this in the pharmacist column and when David came home from camping last year with open oozing reddened places on his back I first tried Neosporin and they got no better.

Then I started putting honey on them with a bandage over that and in a few days they were all healed. Since then I have used honey on several things and all improved. Jeanie :)

I put honey on a bad cut I got on the back of my foot a while back. It didn't do it any harm and may have helped it to heal up faster. I don't think I'd try it on any sores unless a doctor said it would be OK though. With the skin you just never know what you might be dealing with.

                        I'm a fraidy-cat though.

                        Sally, your GD is lovely!

Awwwwww Nuthatch, sooo sorry for your flare of illness right now.
Ive heard good things about the healing power of honey. It just
might work. Good luck with that and I hope you are feeling a
                          little better soon.

Thought that I would also post here that our Gabriella 7, has lost her husband Joe to ALS. Lets keep her in our thoughts as yet another long time member has lost their husband.
