Looks like the great blue herons are about to hatch, with the first pip today. I'm really looking forward to seeing the little ones from the very beginning this year since I came in on the heron's nest a little late last year. They are so interesting and different than all the other nesting birds I've watched. This nest in in Ithaca NY.

Your link to the great blue herons' cam is the same link as the link for the photo of the first pip. I'll google them to find their website.

I visited the Peregine falcon nest, but Mom was sitting over her chicks and I didn't get a peek at them. Yet! I will keep checking. It's unusual to see birds of prey nesting in a city environment, although I recall the eagles in Florida were near a busy road. At least the eagles were in a tree. It looks like the falcons are on the side of a building. Where do they get their food?

Since we can't watch our Decorah eagles, I've been keeping an eye on Peace and Harmony in Minnesota. They're adorable, and their parents are terrific. Here's a link to them:

MNBound also has a loon cam, which was turned on today. The loons haven't started nesting, but they've had a very late spring and ice melt there. But the cam is up and ready to capture these lovely birds. Looking forward to it!

Here is another one. I have been following this since they first started. It is on a skyscraper in downtown Boise, Idaho. Or what passes for a tall building in Boise. This year there are 4 chicks.

The stork was feeding its babies when I peeked in. Not sure what was on the menu.

Just watched the video of the first feeding of the new heron chick. Such a cute little thing with alot to say!
Herons don't feed their young like other birds do. Very interesting to see. Here's the video.

Thank you! That was fascinating! But it didn't seem like the heron chick ate very much before Mama swallowed it again.

And, ((((((agate)))))) I was thinking the same thing ~ a Phyllis Diller hairdo!

Loving watching the storks too. But the Peregine falcon is sitting on her babies, every time I stop by. Hoping to catch them one of these days!

Peace and Harmony are growing so fast at the Minnesota Bound Eagles nest. And we're waiting for loons to nest on the platform too in Minnesota.

Another blue heron chick hatched! Same "I stuck my finger in a light socket" hairstyle! Is that the birth you missed this morning, Sally?

I finally saw the stork chicks today! YAY! Three chicks and an unhatched egg. An unhatched egg? Seems it should have hatched by now, given the size of the chicks.

And I finally saw the Pelegrine chicks. Mom was feeding, and they were gulping it down.

I keep saying ... Awwwwww ... they are all so cute!
