we have a major event at the farm Monday,, we get roped into it,, a smoke off ,, with meat getting smoked and judged to see who did the best,,yes Joe is doing it,,he is so excited, he is smoking loins, chicken, 2 different cuts of ribs,,I am making the beans,, pies,, the rest they can bring,,30 to 40 people showing up,, I'll make it,,

I always read the last page and then back up pages if I need to. I also learned that if you click on the last post it takes you to the very end. Jeanie :)

I too go to the last page and back up as necessary. I found that if you click on the arrow next to the last posters name it takes you to the last post. Something Cheri pointed out to me several years ago as I recall.

I am still not sold on this touch screen. Thankfully I get to try it out before I by something I would hate or just ant use. I was informed that it is a touch screen and not a Royal desktop manual typewriter. Apparently there is no reason to PUSH the touch screen.

Went down to Boise to drop son off to attend a wedding and took MIL out to lunch. Weather was nice but glad of the ac. Garden is a bit confused as it is warm then cool so some things are slow to grow.

My SSon's family pool party and cookout was a total success.

Bad news, my A/C conked out last night, hopefully just a fuse.
Won't be able to get it fixed till tomorrow though. Praying for
coolish weather and low humidity today and tomorrow. Other
wise you will find me in a melted puddle..no kidding.

Peg, this event sounds like something where you'll have to keep sampling everybody's smoked meat. You'll definitely need help with that.

I'm betting Joe will win.

Perfect weather here--around 70' and sunny. I hope everyone else had the same, especially Sally. Having an AC go out can be a calamity.

Gary, my captioning phone has a touch screen. I've had for a couple of years now but am still getting used to it. I keep scrolling it the wrong way for some reason.

Then there are those screens they give you to sign in a store or with a package delivery. I just can't write my name on them with my finger well at all. I don't press hard enough, and when I finally get it to write something, it looks as if it was written by someone who never learned to write. A stylus doesn't work much better.

I do not like touch screens.
If it doesn't respond to being touched like a piano, forget it.
And screens that can be signed with a pointed stylus can be good or stinky.

A few times I've signed in as John Wayne.
Nobody noticed.

Sometimes I need to middle finger the establishment.

:) Hi everyone. Sally I hope your air is fixed.

Yesterday was the day they had promised my friend Thelma she would go home. Well they did nothing to get discharge orders and no one was there on the holiday who could do it. I visited and took her outside. I pull her chair from my scooter.

I sent an email to the social service person saying if she was not sent home today I would call the local TV station and the administrator there. I just heard from her neighbor that she is supposed to go home at 2 PM today. I will check later and see. I sure hope she gets home as she is very home sick. She says she just closes her eyes and thinks about her house all the time. There is very little to do there and she does not hear well enough to watch TV.

The pain is annoying but the tingling and spasms are really too much. I am thinking about seeing an accupuncturist. Anyone ever see one of those for pain? Thanks, Jeanie :)

A/C will be fixed tomorrow, hopefully. Thankfully, it shouldn't get any warmer
than about 85 today. My fans are working overtime to keep the air moving.

Sally glad that you are getting the a.c fixed. Our unit has kicked on a few time already this year. I didn't take the yearly maintenance contract which only guarantees you a tech within two days. Since the old family retainer (me) is here 24/7 I couldn't justify the expense.


So today's question....... which do you prefer laptop, desktop or a tablet? I am going to have to replace my laptop as the on off switch assembly is going to cost $138.00 plus shipping. I recall that I paid about $275 for the whole thing at Walt mart. I have tried spending more on laptops and I don't get enough more use to justify the added expense. I am using my wife's tablet and I am not sure that this touch screen is going to work out. It is not designed for someone with the shakes. But I recall that I hated the first mouse applications. Or windows for that matter as I started on BASIC and DOS 2.0 so I am willing to try something else to see if I can get used to it. But I would like to hear everybody's opinion good or bad and most especially WHY.

With the MS fog it seems to take twice as long to get anything done much less change to something new. Daughter and SIL are working today so grandson is spending the day with us. At this moment he is in my office with the DirecTV music channel turned up loud and happily singing off key and at the top of his lungs. As my folks were older when I came along I never had grand parents that I could remember so we are glad that we get to do it for our kids.

As my wife is a major quilter. We found a treadle sewing machine for decoration in the sewing palace. It needs a major restoring so it is currently residing in my wood shop. She was really excited to have one. I have no idea why. I am surprised to find that you can buy almost every piece on the internet and reasonably priced I might add. This one was built in 1902. I will need to replace a few wooden pieces on the cabinet but I like to restore old furniture. And it keeps me out of the bars.

I am still having trouble with this tingling and rubbery leg thing but at least it isn't creeping up as fast.

And so it goes down here on Tobacco Rd East.

I want to stick with my desktop if at all possible. I can use a laptop if I have to but I have an external mouse hooked up to the one we own. Touchscreens don't interest me in the least.
