Apocalypse Now..."the horror.....the horror." Marlon Brando was paid a cool 1 million dollars for his role in the film, which lasted maybe 10 minutes. But it was a really cool film. Not for the squeamish. Vietnam story.

No posts today eh? I guess everyone has a hangover from partying last night.....not that I've ever had one. Well, rest away, recover, tomorrow starts a new week!

:) Hi everyone. I am very proud of my 55th high school reunion trip. Thursday I drove 240 miles and spent the night with my brother. He filled my gas tank. Friday I drove the 65 miles to Jacksonville and the hotel. I went to the Friday tailgate party at our high school and a catered BBQ. It was nice seeing everyone. Our class had 104 students and about 30 are now deceased. 28 were there. Saturday I visited my 84 year old friend in the morning and then went to the nursing home and saw my classmate who was my matron of honor at the nursing home, She is on hospice care. We had a great visit.

Then that night (Sat) we all met at a nice Italian restaurant with a private dining room, bar, etc. set up for us. The food was excellent and plentiful, but the company was great. We all did a lot of reminising. Sunday morning they had a brunch at a members home but her house was not accessible, so I opted out. I had lunch with my 84 year old friend and his brother. After I went to the cemetery and saw my Mother, Father and 3 brothers graves and took photos. I could not find my grandparents sites as no one was there on Sunday and they are in the older section. I looked for awhile but gave up. The grass was not so easy for the scooter.

Today I began the 300 mile trip home. God sent me an angel. When I pulled up to the pump a young lady approached me and asked if she could get some change as she had left her debit card at home. I asked if she would pump my gas for me and she did. I happily gave her $5 as that is hard for me. I made it all the way home on that tank.

I missed checking up on all of you and am glad to be back to my own bed, and able to read posts.

Sally my David had two posts his bottom dentures clicked on to. He liked them. He bargained with the dentist and asked how much would it be if he paid cash. It went from 5000 to 4500 and he used his credit card. Jeanie :)

Thanks Sally, I just passed it on to my brother and sister. Pretty amazing.

They get what they can from the insurance company and try to find you other help, but I was told that if that doesn't happen then the drug company takes the insurance money and that is it. Unless this has changed, a company rep stood up in front of a number of people, some on Medicare and some not and made that statement. I was there when it happened. I wonder if this is still true. I hope so. He says it does not matter what you have. Call the rep for your area and talk directly to them and see what they recommend would be my advice. They might help you more than MS Lifelines. Good Luck!
Not any more...I've been working with them since mid August. As of October 1, my copay with Medicare part D is a little over $1900/month

And now that I'm on straight social security I've never had to pay more than a co-pay of $15 -- although there was a brief period where I was paying $35/month for the techfidera until it got worked out between the drug company, Medicare and my insurance company). When I suspect we don't have as many assets as you, Medicare isn't being means tested (yet!) so your assets should not be a factor. I'm most grateful our primary insurance has such a good drug policy!

You might want to contact the drug company and see if they can't work with you to reduce your cost.
Because we have three investment houses (we are landlords) EMD Serono will not give copay assistance. We would have to spend down to get it.

I'm having a bit of a rough go lately. Dad has turned another corner it seems. He has rallied for a few weeks now has had a couple of falls, is extremely forgetful to the point of telling me who was at the house three times in a 10 minute conversation, and has started becoming nauseous again (I think that is how he personally exhibits pain). My sister Jean got there this afternoon for a few days. I spent time on the phone with the Hospice nurse this morning then my folks. I cry too easily and it is getting difficult to be at work lately. I find I am making mistakes and having to check my work over and over. I am sure it is stress. Stress about Dad and my inability to do much of anything right now. Stress about the medication copays. Stress that my Primary care doc for years is leaving the practice January 1 and I have to find a new one. He tells me the ones he is referring the majority of his patients to are too young and inexperienced to manage my care. They are also family practitioners and not Internists , which he feels I need. Stressed because work is not smooth right now and is all piling up. I had 6 closings pushed into this Friday and now it looks like at least one and up to 4 will be pushed into the following week. There is a fair amount of detail work that goes into a file the day before a closing so I have to keep gearing up then leaving things on hold.

I can't imagine being that busy, and having so much going on. Don't forget to take care of yourself my friend.

Thank you Howie. I am doing my best. David was not happy when I suggested maybe I needed to stop the job at his office. He thinks a week off might be in order but this is certainly not the week to do that. He likes having me down the hall. He likes having me out of the house. It generally is good for mental health but it is one thing (with Dad and med issues) that I can have some control over. Those of you who pray...I could use prayers for discernment of what direction I need to take.

Is there some way you could work part time every other week?
