I love, The Yellow Wallpaper! I've seen it acted out as a monologue many times.
And Gilman was a UU, to boot.

      Ok, I'll bite... "UU"???

I think there is no question that medical care can make people ill..."iatrogenesis". So, it is entirely possible that the medical care itself brought out these narcissistic or histrionic personality traits found in the PwMS questioned.

Obviously, it must be a systemic, institutionalized problem if Charlotte Perkin Gilman wss writing about it in the 1800's! I'll have to locate that book and read it, sounds very enlightening.

My MS sx started when I was a child and I was told that they were growing pains or stress related, then new sx arrived in my late teens and I got a tentative dx of carpal tunnel syndrome until I had an EMG that showed the nerve wasn't under any pressure. Before the EMG, I was given steroid shots, but all they did was cause electric type shocks when my arm was touched, but no relief from the pain I was in.

Is it any wonder why I lost trust in doctors for almost ten years, before I went back to one (I had numb areas on my body and couldn't ignore it anymore)? I wasn't dx with MS until I was 29.

I think UU is Unitarian Universalist. There are a lot in Mass. but there are also some followers of that religion all over the country.

The parishioners often can be seen shopping at Wal-Mart after the services.

UU definitely does stand for Unitarian Universalist, and they're not so rare. You might find a few on this board, in fact.
                          SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

My plan is that we beat up the researchers on a daily basis so they feel anxiety about how bad the next beating is, random pain all over their body, inability to walk etc. Then let's give them this Millon test and see if they score as self absorbed and dramatic.
