Having just gotten out of the hospital myself, your post resonated deeply with me. I have considered option B....SERIOUSLY...in the past and even toyed with entertaining it again this week I felt so trapped and hopeless and helpless. You have gotten good sound advice here. Sometimes we are not the best persons to make these ultimate decisions and need input from trusted family and friends (of course both you and I know that we know what is best for ourselves).

Request an increase in home Health services. Our VNS has a wound care specialist that goes into the home and does debridement right there at the bedside.

Are you amenable to a nursing home for recovery time? If not, the option for home care should be available as much as it is needed.

I'm for telling your worried Tom Cat to stay home and then agree to call daily.

Having someone you love and who loves you drive a 2 hour round trip regularly
is very wearing all around. Sometimes it's just easier to think like a single person
with good friends, some family and no spouse.
I, too, have occasionally contemplated the other plan particularly when weather and
other factors put me in isolation at home. But I dredge up reasons why, if not for me,
but for one or two people in my life, I should hang in and resign myself to
occasional surprise hospitals stays of unknown duration and my edgy existence.

Hope you find peace here on earth with Plan H.

Parsi, thank you so much for letting us know about Cat having surgery and going to the nursing home to recover. I'm glad that she chose Option A.

Cat we are all thinking of you and were so glad to hear the surgeries are over. I just hope all will be uphill from this point on. I know there will be detours, but hope they are not serious. Sorry you will not have internet. We miss you, and I'll second that three cheers from Agate.
