OT Need help posting a picture

Hi! I am finding it impossible to post a profile picture. I thought I had it figured out but was wrong again.

I am just trying to post a guitar pic. It fits the pixel requirements. It is just a clip art pic which I thought would be easy enough.

The guitar appears on my profile page but doesn't appear when I post. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong or give me step-by-step instructions? I think my MS brain must not be figuring it out, seems like it shouldn't be this difficult. LOL

Go to the top of the page, and click settings. Scroll down the left side, and you'll see Edit Avatar. That should be it. Add the picture in the space provided. It's easy to do, but hard to explain. Try it, and feel free to ask any questions.

I did that previously Howie but it didn't upload. I'll try it again and see what happens. Thanks

What do ya know this time it worked Howie! Guess I just needed your suggestion to make the difference, eh? Thanks for the help my friend!

Thanks Sally! I miss being able to play my guitar and tried to post a picture of it for my profile pic but it was too large and I received the message that it failed to load.

I went on the hunt for a smaller pic and although I was just told it failed to load, obviously it did load.

I would be interested in knowing how many other musicians have trouble playing an instrument due to their MS? Of course the voice is an instrument too and would be included.

Sally, it's at the end. You forgot the /.

Your avatar looks perfectly fine to me. Transferring images around is something I've been tinkering with for years and I still can't say I know what I'm doing but the "image" icon at the top of the message window (it's next to the "quote" icon) gives 2 options. You can transfer an image directly from your computer, in which case you're allowed to browse through your own image files and find what you want and move it here, or you can transfer it from a URL.

If you right-click on many images you find on the Internet, you're often given a number of options. I try many of them until I find one that works.

Musical instruments? I played the piano from age 6 on but after MS came along I found I couldn't play any more. I got rid of my piano a couple of years after being diagnosed. Too much arm effort for me.

I played the cello in high school but wouldn't have considered taking it up again after MS. Again, too much arm effort, and there's considerable coordination involved.

But about 8 years after I was diagnosed I learned to play the recorder and played it regularly for many years. I sold my last recorder only a few years ago. I played along with recorded music, often using the flute part. I played solo at home mostly.

My fingers are permanently bent out of shape now but this is probably due to arthritis, and I can't get them to cover the recorder holes.

I enjoy listening to music though. A lot. I think of some song I used to like and haven't heard in years and find it on the Internet very easily.

Sally, I'm determined to figure out how to post images on an iPad. I'm usually pretty busy at the first of the month but I hope to get to it soon. I like to tackle a problem like that when I have a block of uninterrupted time. I've already learned a few things but I haven't actually succeeded in posting an image using the iPad. I think it's a matter of hovering over something on the screen and capturing one of the options that come up on the screen when you hover.

The problem is that different options come up at different times.

Wow Agate you were quite the musician. I finally successfully uploaded my clip art image from my computer. Still don't know why it failed to load all the other times.

I started out playing the violin in school. I taught myself the guitar but just played for my own enjoyment. Like you I played along with my favorite songs. Found it very relaxing.

MS caused me to change from a full sized guitar to a 3/4 sized guitar but after awhile I still couldn't push down on the strings properly which makes playing chords hard if not impossible.

I have a harmonica maybe I should give that a try and see how it turns out. When I'm alone and can't bother Curt. HA!
