Without getting too personal, but where did you place the bar of soap so you got relief, but were comfortable.

I stuck it down about where my calves usually are. Sometime my leg might rest on the soap and sometime it might just be very close by.

:) Howie I put the bar of Ivory under the fitted bottom sheet in the middle of the bed next to where my calves are. I have had a bar in the bed for years. I do put a fresh bar in about once a year. Jeanie :)

Thanks! I use Ivory soap because it floats, and is easy to find when it slips from my hand. Other soap sinks to the bottom, and with one hand mostly numb, it's hard to find. Plus is makes me "As soft as a baby's behind". (Remember when they used that slogan?)

The oils used to scent Ivory soap have anti-spasmodic activity, which may explain the benefit.
It's still only a hypothesis, and according to snopes, as yet, unproven. No proper trials have been conducted or research. As we know with testimonials, they're a dime a dozen and we'd all be broke if we bought into every remedy somebody "swore" helped them. Without a blinded trial, it will remain anecdotal.

But a bar of soap is cheap, and if it doesn't work, it can always be used... to clean yourself!

Here's Virginia's People's Pharmacy article, and the snopes entry that reviews all available information about the hypothesis:

Suze, it states that Ivory soap should be used because the oils used to scent Ivory soap have anti-spasmodic activity.

That is what I used years ago and it is what Jeanie says she uses.

A bar of Ivory soap is so cheap it really doesn't make much difference weather it really works or a person believes it does.
