:) I also bought a new shampoo and lotion. The before and after photos of dogs with a lot of missing hair and after having nice coats. Andy gave her her 1st bath with it today. Just from not scratching her fur looks better.

The only snack she gets now is boiled chicken thighs in small pieces. She does not seem to be scratching as much. She still rubs her eyes on the velvet sofa. I have been putting neosporin on that but will try the new lotion (Jax and Daisy). We will find the answer I hope. Jeanie :)

Ann, what happened to your friend who had PML? How is she doing?

I didn't want to bring politics to this thread, but there is a request in the Politics thread that I made if it is still there and not deemed violating the rules.

Virginia, I'll update that thread, thank you. Short answer: keep praying.

I also wanted to mention 2 things before I forget. One is about inauguration Friday. I turned on the radio w my coffee and realized, like a slap in the face, what was happening so I switched to TV. I saw the entire swearing in before I called an Uber to meet Peter at Symphony Hall.

I was very sad. My head was heavy w unshed tears.

Our seats were good. And there were many differently abled people at the performance. The have good spots where they have taken out rows of seating for wheelchairs and scooters. One man seemed to be totally paralyzed and in a high back tilt chair.

During the first piece, A Weinberg that I didn't like, I looked around the beautiful hall and was thankful to be insulated from who knew what outside. The speach was so agressive I feared anything could be happening. I was glad to be cocooned within those walls.

Intermission came and here is the curious part. They sell catered food and have a bar. We never have anything but the strong smell of coffee led us to it. ($3!). It was awful and extra milk did not improve it. As we moved toward the milk we saw a woman seated w a paper plate of maybe a 100 pickles. Shortly we saw people gathered at one end of the bar reaching into a hugh bowl. It was pickles. I had one. Bread & butter type. It got the dreadful coffee flavor out of my mouth. I asked the woman who was serving coffee about the pickles. She said they were for sandwiches. She also said that they never had more emails, phone calls or letters about anything more than those pickles. People wanted lots of pickles w their sandwiches. Odd.

The other thing that I wanted to mention was meals on wheels. My 91 yr old mom gets it to cut down on shopping. She can't stand long or make many trips from car to house w bags. This was a good solution. Her's is $5 a day (5 days a wk) for a hot meal and a bag w fruit, cottage cheese, milk, pudding and a roll or some bread for later.

My Mom's sister in Las Vegas gets 7 hot, freezable meals every Thursday w a gallon of milk, and 3 oranges, 3 bananas and three apples. For free! Worth checking your area if it might help.

My mom used to get Meals on Wheels. I think 7 days a week, but it's been almost 20 years so I'm not sure. I do remember you could be kicked off the program if you cancelled a certain number (very low) times. So occasional meals with family might be out.

:) My Mother got meals on wheels 5 days a week for $65. but she seldom ate them they were not too good. I thought about checking them out but I do not want to be waked up early. Today I slept until noon got up fed Lacy her pills and had a sandwich and back to bed until 2:30 PM.

I am still tired. Sitting here at the computer and nearly falling asleep. I want to sleep tonight so I will try to stay awake. I am headed to the freezer to see what dinner I can make. Jeanie :)

I've seen the Meals on Wheels that some neighbors get and must admit that they probably wouldn't appeal to me. Lots of rolls, and I don't eat rolls at all.

The Meals-on-Wheels program here delivers 5 days a week, with a suggested donation of $3. For weekends they provide frozen meals. The neighbor in her 90s whom I've mentioned might benefit from these but she's tried them and didn't like them.

We got Meals-on-Wheels for my Dad for a little while, but he did not like the food at all and the timing that they brought it was bad. So we did not keep them long.

Meals-on-Wheels sounds like a great concept but if people don't like the meals, maybe it needs some improvement.

I did one of those diet plans I can't think of the name right now. 3 meals a day, and a snack for late night. Any cooking is in the microwave. You can choose between different meals and snacks, desserts, everything. It comes once a month in one big box. I stopped it because it was more than I eat.

You supply only what you drink. Maybe one of you knows the name. Deal a Meal is in my brain, but not sure. They have a site online. Time for me to surf the net a while. BBS, watch this surfing!

It was Nutra-System. For ME, it's $374 delivered for a month. I might join it and be like Marie!

I tried NutraSystem too, years ago, long before I had a microwave. I think I boiled the meals in a plastic bag and it took a lot of boiling water. I gave up on it after a month too.

All the M on W foods are made w donations and local purchases. At least my Mom's is. Her's is run by a Presbyterian church w a commercial kitchen and is headed by a hired dietician. They have fresh produce donated in season from PA farmers. My mother loves the food which, would not be my chosing. Too many brussel sprouts too often. Same w cabbage.

If I ever need them here, I'd give it a shot. Aunt Martha is doing well w her 9 pieces of fruit etc in Las Vegas.

That's roughly $4 a meal. Not bad. I wonder if they would let you spread it over 2 months instead?

I know there are other food plans, but I don't know what they are called.

Here's one I found for Wisconsin:
