    They do look uncomfortable!

I know that of those left on here Peg, Jeanie and myself have been to Leafwatcher's get togethers. The one I went to was separate from the one they attended, but met several of the same people. I think some of the pictures of the one I attended were sent to Peg, however I did not get any. I enjoyed it very much and there was a lot to talk about other than MS. There may be others on here who have attended one or more. These are just the ones that come to mind.

I don't remember my baby days very well, but I do remember my mom made me stay on newspapers.

I talked to the Nursing Home and they told me Sally was still there and then they passed me on to the Nursing Station that takes care of her. They told me she was doing fine. At least we know she is still there.

Virginia, thank you so much for doing this. I know it wasn't easy.

It's so good to know that Sally is doing OK. Maybe soon she'll be less tired and feel more like putting up with us. It can get a bit rowdy here at times but we like to think we're among Sally's cyberfriends and wish her well.

            SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

              I agree!

Thank you for the update on Sally. I have frequently wondered how she is.

I think there were only about four Leafwatchers???

Cat, do you have the special phone service for the hearing impaired? I know it makes quite a difference. I called the nursing home where a former neighbor lived. The staff took the phone to her room and it was so difficult to talk. So she had me call her back to her own phone which was set up for it. The difference was amazing.

Even if Sally finds phone calls and visits difficult or annoying, I'm sure occasional cards or short notes with the words "Thinking of you" would be welcomed. No requests for a reply.
But only if you already have her address.

Parsi, I have a Caption Call phone if that's the type of phone for the hearing impaired you're talking about, and it is quite helpful. However, when some people are talking on some kinds of cellphones, I still don't get much of what they're saying. I haven't figured out what the problem is exactly.

I recall quite a number of Leafwatchers get-togethers over several years and involving more than 4 people, at least sometimes. Laurellynne was often a participant, I think, and may have organized some of them.

I've been communicating with Sally by mail now and then. I believe she posted her nursing home address on this board, didn't she?

Sally, did post her full name and the Nursing Home along with the address when she went in. So all of us who wanted to could send her cards. I have thought about it and it could be that she is becoming more acclimated to her surroundings and is not as lonely as she was when she first arrived there. I hope so.

Well, I washed my hair, put on make-up and got all ready to go to meditation tonight. I have to leave about 6:10 and the rain is coming down so hard it is bad. It has been like this all day today and much of yesterday. The news just said the streets were bad and I decided not to go. I sent an e-mail to my friend who's home it is held in. I don't know if she will read it before 6:30 or not. I missed last month and hated to do this, but it is cold and rainy and I just don't feel that it is a good idea for me to go. I have to walk to the car here and also I have to walk down her driveway at her house. We have a man who was diagnosed with cancer in February and still, even though on chemo, he was able to make it last month, so it makes me feel like a wimp, but safety has to be the first priority. My world is getting so small. I hate to loose this group, but I have canceled on them so many times. I think they got a new person last month and I was going to meet her tonight. Oh well!

Virginia, if you want to go to the group, is taking a taxi possible? Sometimes a person just has to shell out a lot of money to do something really important.

Thank you Virginia, for checking on Sally. I'm glad to hear she is okay. I wish it was not so hard for her to participate here and hope she knows we miss her and care for her.
I feel the same as Ann, I would appreciate someone who would think enough of me to check on me. I would never think of it as an intrusion, but rather, concern for my well being.
I was very touched to see other forum members mention my absence from the forum recently. There is not much worse than feeling like you could disappear off the face of the earth and no one would even notice or care.

I can only speak for myself, but illness and age continue make my life smaller and smaller. Family, old close friends, and cyber friends have become more important in my shrinking world. Thanks for being there.

Hi Joan (nuthatch). I think about you and your house and the animals - inside and out. What's going on in your purview?
(I just had a discussion Peter with about the use of "purview." I won.)

Virginia, I am sorry that you missed your meditation and I am not sure about the book club. Maybe you could start one in your home and the others bring the goodies. Maybe new people.

I don't think I'd go out on a night like that either. I had to laugh at lipstick for meditation.

Howie, you are rather quiet. Are you all right?

We just watched the Antique Roadshow and are now drinking tea. Life in the big city.

When I was in a nursing home for being an alcoholic, Agate was the one that contacted me both through the mail, and by phone. Agate, I really appreciated that, and will never forget it.

Those were my vodka days, and I let it get out of hand. I still drink, but it's only beer, and over a long period of time. I never get a buzz, but it's the only big boy thing I can enjoy.

I'm a shut in, go nowhere but the store, and the doctor a few times a year. But coming here and being silly most of the time, is my only "social life" I have. And that's a good thing for me.

Sam is the only cat I get to see. Seven stays in the bathroom beside her water bowl. She will go to the kitchen to eat, but no where else. She can't get up on the bed any more. It's sad to see her age and fall apart like we all do as age overtakes us.

I don't know where I am going with this. I am so broke this month as I am most months. I can get me some breathing room by selling Pinky, but I'm not ready for that....yet.

Virginia, we have one more day of rain, then it's going to clear. I can almost throw a rock and hit NC, so our weather is about the same. We still have that horrible Summer to get through. Hot and humid is it for months!

                              Everyone enjoy your evening.

Agate, hiring a taxi is not an option. I would still have to walk to the car here and down her driveway when I got to her house. There are cars parked in her drive so a taxi could not pull up into it. I have had an e-mail saying they all missed me.

Nuthatch I think about your house also. I think about it having a lot of glass and light and animals around it. You use to sometime post pictures of critters outside your house and you had some not so nice ones come right up to the door as I recall.

Ann, I would have wondered about the use of the word purview if you had not explained it. Glad you won the argument - and just think he was trained to talk and use words, etc.

Howie, we are close. Our weather would be very close.
