I thought an administrator would have called me by now to profusely apologize. Didn't happen.

Our kitten season is Mar through Oct. the kittens we do have are rescued from Puerto Rico and Florida. Henry & Hazel, the kittens given away, were from Florida.

    Thank you for commiserating.

Oh Ann, what a terrible betrayal.
A heartfelt apology wouldn’t have taken away the feelings of loss, but might’ve taken the sting out of it. To blame you by saying, “you shoulda put a hold on them” is just awful. Why people blame the victim is such a mystery to me.

Oh, I'm sorry about the kittens! I do hope their new home is a good one. It is painful when you're heart is given away to someone like that, and then they're snatched away! I hope they have some others you can choose from, and take away with you!

Yeah, that's just plain wrong. But don't give up. There are so many cats out there, and so few shelters that have a "no kill" policy. It's just sad that these precious animals don't have the chance to love, and be loved.

This is a "no kill" shelter. It was started by Ellen M. Gifford in the late 1800's for all animals. Now just for cats. They take care of unadopted cats for life including special diets and other medical care. They draw the line at investing in cats w fatal illnesses. A good place that screwed up yesterday.

No kill shelters often will not take in animals that are going to be too hard to adopt out. So, they really aren’t no kill, since they send the animals away who end up at humane societies and are euthanized. Then the no kill can say the y don’t euthanize any animals.

Maybe yours is different though and takes any cat brought to them except very sick ones. But those end up euthanized at humane societies, allowing the no kill shelter to perpetuate the myth that they are no kill.

Hi Peg! Do you have farm/barn cats? I was also wondering if you keep a milk cow and if you have chickens for eggs and poultry.

I miss Gary's farm, school bus, equipment and other stories.

There seem to be many reasons for memory-loss episodes and confusion, as of course you're aware, with your training and experience.
He's not on any prescription medication and is using a CPAP for nearly 3 and a half years and sleeping through the night with it. B12 levels were low when checked in August but he's been getting shots for that.

I miss Gary too. He has blocked me from his facebook page and does not answer emails or phone calls.

Ann, I am sorry this happened to you and Peter. To be so excited and happy and then to find out you can't get them is just heart breaking.

Peg, too bad about your weather with all the cattle being bought right now. It makes it more difficult. I hope it only last a couple of days. Want some almost hot weather come South - we got it.

Cherie, still remembering you and Dave and hoping that they will find out the cause of this, or that it will just be stress and go away on it's own.

((((Ann)))) I know you must be very disappointed. Someone really messed up and owes you an apology. Try to keep in mind that many of the workers at these shelters are volunteers. Nobody is perfect and I'm sure it wasn't intentional.

I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. The toddler my brother found the other day could have slipped out just as Cat said, while the mother or a sitter thought he was sleeping. Maybe whoever was watching him fell asleep her/himself, or worse yet, had some kind of medical emergency or fall. I'm just glad my brother was there when he was. I hope anyone would have done the same thing.

I remember once when my youngest brother, who was 4 at the time, got lost on Tom Sawyer's Island at Disneyland. If you're not familiar with Disneyland, Tom Sawyer's Island is surrounded by water. The island has some caves, rock formations and trails. You ride a raft over to the island and kids just run wild there. It was like a playground for kids to run off some of their pent up energy and excitement.
Somehow, in all the chaos, my little brother got separated. My parents thought he was with us, us older kids thought he had gone back to Mom or Dad. Five kids was a lot to keep track of without literally roping us together. My parents were frantic! Turns out he was frightened by all the excited screaming kids running through the caves, he decided to exit and take a walk! My Mom was terrified that he had drowned at the "Happiest Place on Earth". He was fine.

I'm beginning to think I'm a glutton for punishment. Even though my hand dexterity is not good, eyesight is worsening with age and double vision is a problem, I am determined to learn how to peyote stitch with seed beads. I've been watching tutorials on You Tube, bought supplies and have finally started (and repeatedly restarted!) a bracelet out of tiny beads. It was a rough start but I think I am finally getting the knack. I'm hoping it will improve my hand dexterity and fulfill my need to create, maybe even exercise the old brain too!
I know Agate does beautiful crochet. Does anyone have a hobby or craft that possibly helps with dexterity? Would love to hear your opinions!

Miss Gary's posts too. The entire nation has become so intolerant of each other. It's such a shame.
