I don't remember seeing any blood. I don't think there are a lot of blood vessels in that area, to be honest, it's so thin. Very fast, very simple procedure.

I feel the same way about anything about my eyes, I'm just very sensitive about it. I was gripping that chair like I was attached to it. I worked myself up into quite a state and was fully prepared for a long period of convalescence with assistance from others.

Instead, I was ready to go out that evening, there really was no reason to convalesce at all. I only wished that I'd not taken the med to calm me otherwise I'd have preferred to go out and celebrate my bravery.

Jeanie, so glad your heart attack was mild, if in fact you had one. Really happy your A/C is working again.

I agree, there are lots of healthy people here. I like my salads as long as they're covered with a yummy dressing. I think I'm like you that I just really enjoy food and hate to deprive myself of the pleasure I get from eating food I enjoy. I'm glad food manufacturers are at least making efforts to reduce the trans fats, cholesterol and sodium in foods. I make myself green smoothies to ensure I get regular, healthy greens and fruits.

Virginia, glad you made that decision. I hope you won't second guess it but will just take off your mind til next year when you can reassess the situation. It was a good decision for you.

Suze-Q thanks for the encouragement re eyes and Rebif co-payments. You were very brave when they did this to your eye. I think I waited just a little longer than I should before I went. I am already tired of hot compresses. I start to do something and then I stop and go put a hot compress on my eye. This too shall end, as the saying goes and I guess I shouldn't complain.

So glad your a/c is working again. It's scary that you may have had a heart attack. Did the doctor indicate that you needed to take any meds for your heart? I hope a diet change will help you. You're in my prayers.

          Virginia ~

I'm praying that the antibiotics and soaking your eye will work, so that you don't need to have surgery. Is there anything new related to your financial assistance with your meds?

          Cheri ~

Thank you for the info. How do they market their THC products? Dispensaries? Do patients contact them directly for consults, and they create the tinctures based on the consult? I guess I should spend time on their website to become more educated about them.

          Our News ~

We received a notice from our Homeowners' Association today regarding the creation of a new policy pertaining to solar panels. This led to a discussion in which Jim stated that he feels it would be better for us to have solar panels installed than a permanent back up generator. We agreed that this would be the best plan and a good environmental choice. So now, I'm researching solar panel companies.

Sometimes it takes us a while to get where we need to be. Eventually, we do get there.

Prayers for all of you every day ~

          Love & Light,

            Sunshine ,
I did PM you earlier today. Gave an email where I can be reached to send articles. I hold the copyrights now that mother has died. She needs to be given credit if they are used for public distribution.

Easy Salad dressing where you know exactly what’s in it and very yummy

              For small salad:
              3 TBS EVOO
1 TBS Colavita Wine vinegar (or your fave choice of wine vinegar)
A small amount of Dijon mustard, like the finger tip of your pinky
S and P onto taste is optional, not necessary— I don’t use that

              Whisk. Put on salad. Eat

              Large salads

              1/2 cup EVOO
              3 TBS Coloavita wine vinegar.
Just under 1 tsp Dijon mustard
              Whisk. Serve.

The mustard emulsifiers the vinegar and oil so it stays mixed. And adds flavor too!

Nuthatch, have we seen you lately? Seems like a long time.

                Howie, are you sleeping in?

                Rene where are you?

Good questions, Virginia! I don't think nuthatch is very near those terrible fires. I hope she isn't.

Yes, renee--and a boatload of others who check in here once in a blue moon, we're still here for you.

Virginia guessed where I was, sleeping in. I finally forced myself to get up since Sam kept waking me up to feed her. She has dry cat food, but what she wanted was the sliced turkey....people food. I hear it's good.

Just now having my coffee, but have nothing planned. A laid back weekend. Everyone enjoy your weekend no matter how you spend it!

Mine is being spent being bored. I do not want to watch TV. I am not in a reading mood. I wish I had a jigsaw puzzle, but I don't and will not go out to buy one with eye the way that it is. Later I will listen to some CDs maybe and try to find a movie on Amazon Prime or somewhere.

I'm putting the finishing touches on the baby blanket. It's so less than perfect that I already have plans (and yarn) for another one.

I'm also waiting for this hot spell to end, maybe on Tuesday. I do have to get to an appointment (diabetic shoes) on Monday and am not looking forward to being out in the heat, which will be in the upper 90s. With luck I won't need to be in it for long.

They've found liquid water on Mars, and that seems to be fairly exciting. Could there be life there after all?

Agate, I saw that about Mars on the news tonight. They said they had pictures of where a salt lake had been. If there is life on Mars I wonder if they have MS there?

I bet that blanket is far more perfect than you are giving yourself credit for. If you are a little like me you probably pick things to pieces that you have done. I have a habit of doing that.

Also, on the news tonight while I was watching the fire in California I got really concerned about Nuthatch. Rose does check in with us. Nuthatch has said she is in a high risk fire area. I hope all is alright.

In Northern NH for a few days. Hot here. Hit 90 today with thunder storms. Went to the movies this evening to see the New Mission Impossible film "Fallout" with Tom Cruise. So amazingly energetic and impossible and suspenseful and pretty awesome.

I just cannot seem to get even a hint of real energy lately. It's been well over a month.

Hi friends, thought I better check in to let you know we're not close to any of the major wildfires that are burning, but it is very smokey now from fires burning north, south and east of us.. I think the whole state is blanketed in smoke at this point. Like Rose, I am so sad to know Idyllwild is burning . . . such a special place that holds fond childhood memories of family camping and hiking. Wrightwood too. Evacuations in Yosemite . . . that ruined some nice vacations, I'm sure. All this fire with a water shortage and triple digit temps all week . . . what a mess!

On a good note, last week we had a pergola install over the back patio of the house to provide some much needed shade. The back of the house faces southwest , which is great for solar collection, but it gets hot back there with the sun beating down on it! 10 to 20 years for trees to mature enough to make shade? I need it now!!
Speaking of solar . . . Rose, installing solar panels can save you lots of money in electric bills but unless you have battery storage back-up (which is a very expensive additional cost) you would still need a back up generator in the event of a power outage. I would recommend talking to a reputable solar company about your special needs so that you can weigh the costs versus a whole house back-up generator.

Virginia - Sorry to hear about your eye. My brother had a monstrous stye for six months. After going the compress route (but he didn't do it diligently), he had to have it lanced twice before it cleared up. He said it wasn't as painful as he expected either. But while he had the stye, he said he looked like he had been in an awful barroom brawl! Try to be patient and diligent about those compresses so that you might avoid any surgical procedures.
Wish we lived closer, I'd be happy to help with a jigsaw! In the meantime you might like to listen to some episodes of This American Life. Just go to thisamericanlife.org and explore their archives for past episodes that interest you. You can even listen while compressing!

Jeanie - That must have been a shock to get that news. Hope doc was wrong, but please take care of yourself anyway.

Agate, I bet you're being overly critical of your work. They say practice makes perfect but I've never found that to be true for myself! Grandson and parents will treasure anything you make for them because it comes from your heart!
