My sister also takes some sips of vodka along with her inhalers: it settles her down, as anxiety about not breathing can worsen her attack. I dont know if there is science behind that though.

Just what I thought....belly up to the bar gals! Ok...so what is the science idea behind this?

I have settled on three pursuits about my current situation:
*Maybe related to a moderately leaky heart valve. (Explains coughing, palpitations, swelling and deep fatigue. ).
*Or maybe related to reemergence of Lyme disease. (Explains deep fatigue and night sweats)
*Or maybe a general body infection os some sort.(that explains coughing and general body aches.)


Had cat scan this morning. Have an appointment with cardiologist at end of February. Step by step we will get there.

Jim uses an Albuterol inhaler, and it's very easy, which I hope you've now discovered. He also has a nebulizer for Albuterol breathing treatments as needed. He uses the inhaler in between treatments. He was given an Advair inhaler, which is far more involved than the Albuterol inhaler as far as use. It didn't help him as much as the ProAir Albuterol inhaler.

I used you tube to watch lessons on using the inhaler. I am thinking too hard about what to do...by tomorrow I should have the instructions down pat!

Cat scan came out clear. Making appointment with a pulmonologist ....learning how to use that inhaler...found instructions on YouTube....

I think it will turn out to be related to my heart leaky valve but it is getting more worrisome every day and it takes time to get appointments.

Still coughing....lots of mucus back too. But I can go hours without coughing and with clear sinuses. I have an appointment with a lung doctor Thursday and a heart guy at the end of February.
But today I looked at the Mayo Clinic site about side effects of rituxan and found this:

“Call your doctor right away if you start to have a cough that won't go away, weight loss, night sweats, fever, chills, flu-like symptoms (eg, runny or stuffy nose, headache, blurred vision, or feeling generally ill), painful or difficult urination, or sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips. These may be signs that you have an infection.“ The next paragraph talked about shortness of breath which is also a new symptom of mine . Not sure how they could tell what is causing my problems but coughing, nightsweats,stuffy nose and shortness of breath are all part of my current situation. Hmmmmmmm.

Linda, I hope it is not Rituxan. That’s the reason they would not let me have the drug that is like Rituxan. Can’t remember the name. Hope they get to the bottom of this soon.

Would that be Ocrevus (ocrelizumab)?

We are all in the testing and information stage. If it were the rituxan I would switch to Ocrevus which is the same but processed slightly differently. Rituxan has a great record and I am hoping it is not that. There is just as much chance it is related to the leaky heart valve I have. If that has worsened at least it could be fixed so I am hoping it is a heart problem?..?!!

Lyme disease has many of the symptoms I have so I am looking into that also...I had Lyme in 1983 and it may be what started the development of my MS because it was untreated.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I am well much of the day but in big trouble much of the day. And I cannot work on the farm more than an hour. I appear to be facing a brick wall and am looking for the hole in it!

When is your next doctor's appointment? I hope that you are sharing your thoughts and concerns about Rituxan, your leaky heart valve, and Lyme Disease with your doctor now. Any tests, which could rule in/out those possibilities would be helpful.
