      I have been thanking people who post.
      Cough and mucus still here...actually clears up totally for hours at a time and then returns. The cough is better but tomorrow I s the last day on steroids and cough pills so I thought it would be better. I see her again Wednesday so I expect more tests coming. Drats. But I am alert and busy and happy so not feeling as sick as I am.

        Okay half good if you are alert, busy and happy. That’s more than some of us can say. Other half not so good since cough and mucus still showing up. Glad you are seeing Dr Wednesday.

          The steroids are probably keeping you alert and happy, so please be prepared for a possible let down in energy. I'm sorry to tell you this, but it can happen.

          I know you aren't looking forward to seeing your doctor on Wednesday and potentially having more testing. You also want your physician to be thorough and to find out what is wrong with you, so you can receive the proper treatment.

          Do you know whether the infusion drug you take (I'm sorry, I know I should remember the name, but I don't) can cause respiratory issues? Are you taking any other medications, which might have this as a side effect? I always start by looking at the meds, because most doctors don't begin there, and quite often, the drugs are the culprit.

            Thanks....the cause of this coughing can be so many things and I have lots of docs paying attention but, as you know only too well, it takes forever to explore and test each possible cause. I’m going with the least serious ideas and so I have a humidifier running in this very dry bedroom and living room. I have eliminated caffeine.

            Many years ago I did monthly steroid infusions so I am experienced. I am taking advantage of the energy I get and aware of the crash that may come. Thanks for the reminder!

              So, I saw my doc and the nurse practitioner today. They sent me for another chest X-ray. That came back clear again so tomorrow morning I have a cat scan. They prescribed an inhaler to use when I am having trouble. (Albu...something.). Got to learn how to use it.

                        Jim uses an Albuterol inhaler, and it's very easy, which I hope you've now discovered. He also has a nebulizer for Albuterol breathing treatments as needed. He uses the inhaler in between treatments. He was given an Advair inhaler, which is far more involved than the Albuterol inhaler as far as use. It didn't help him as much as the ProAir Albuterol inhaler.

                            If it's any comfort to you, Albuterol has been around for a while. It was one of the inhalers my daughter used for asthma. That was 25 years ago.
                            SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

                              Albuterol made my heart race. So I switched to Xopenex: Perfect. Now it comes in a generic, but I cannot recall its name. WOrks great. Its a rescue inhaler I use it daily with my Spiriva Respimat and Symbicort which are longer acting inhalers, not rescue inhalers.

                                My sister also takes some sips of vodka along with her inhalers: it settles her down, as anxiety about not breathing can worsen her attack. I dont know if there is science behind that though.

                                Good luck. Hopefully the CT scan is normal.
