Just a quick hi (nice to see ya Julie), I need to get to bed so I can hopefully be somewhat human when my oldest ds comes home. It's just short visit, he's picking dh up so he can help with the big move from NC to PA. That means I may actually get to meet my grandson BEFORE he becomes an adult now that they will be closer.

You are in my prayers guys.

Julia, I will keep this room open until all hope fails:). Sorry to hear about all your health issues but it is good to see you back in the room once again. Penny is well and healthy after her surgery so she is past all those problems. My lumbar spine is still not letting me get around but it is slowly getting better each day.

Melanie, glad to hear your son and DIL is moving closer so your grandson is a bit closer. I am blessed to have our two granddaughters living in town with us so we get to see them a couple times a week.

I am planning on an easy weekend hoping to have my lumbar continues to get better. Our temps have really cooled down but thankfully it isn't cold yet. We will be going up to make Thanksgiving dinner as she isn't able to travel on her own any more due to Parkinson. The granddaughters will be up too so it will be a fun weekend when it comes around.

Melanie and Julia I hope you have had a good week this week. I saw on FB Karen from our room is in a new relationship. She left her abusive husband and MIL moving back in with her parents until she could get back on her feet and she sounds like she is doing well. I see where DEA is tightening the screws again on those of us using opiates - you have to meet with your dr every month now along with urine or blood test on a regular basis. It is sad that our politicians don't stop to think how hard it is for many of us, that really need the meds, struggle to get out of the house to see our doctors. People that live a number of miles from their doctor will be in a real bind.

My pain has gradually gotten back to it usual level so I didn't do except for this week as I was still limited to my chair most of the day. No other news from my end.

I thought I would stop in early and offer everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. With my mother no longer able to make the drive [neither can I] we are all going up to her house for Thanksgiving over the weekend. It will be fun to see the two young granddaughters there again as they enjoyed going all over her house as it is a big one compared to either of our homes. By the way they are coming over today for dinner of roast and potatoes.

I had a deep tissue massage today and it helped out now I have to see how long it works. I found out insurance will cover 20 visits so I can set up a bi-weekly visit and maybe keep the pain levels at a lower level since they have been elevated for going on a year now. I have to go and try and get a short nap in since I haven't slept tonight.

Hey guys. Long time no see. Hope all of you are doing well. Not much has changed for me I'm afraid, although, I did go back and get my Masters and now I am looking at possibly doing my PhD, but it's been a very slow and arduous process for rebuilding my life. You know, I still haven't found a good woman since my divorce. It seems that after the accident, my ex decided it was better if she not stick around, but I've found unfortunately, a lot of women who can't be bothered with a guy who is disabled with no job and no home. Well, I'm at least trying to fix the latter. I've been trying to qualify for a mortgage for the past 6 months and yes, there is such a thing for those on a fixed income. Maybe if I have a home, a woman won't judge me for living back at my parents. lol. Anyway, my spinal injuries have stabilized with the right meds and I seem to be doing well, although, I've discovered that I suffer from anxiety and depression. Oh, enough about me. lol. You guys have a great Thanksgiving and remember, it could always be worse and we all have a lot to be thankful for. :)

secdretbard, good to see you stopping in and letting us know how you are doing. It is good that you are doing good enough to rebuild your life and don't give up there are women out there looking for more than how much money you have. I hope you find one that is more concerned with the kind of man you are and even maybe having her own home.

My spinal issues are getting worse but I hang in there and enjoy life as much as I can. Our two granddaughters bring laugh into our life and it is always nice to have them over. What makes it nice is they like coming over here because they have fun with us. Penny and I are going to be on our own for Thanksgiving and then leaving on Saturday to go up to my mom's house to meet everyone there. I put up our Christmas tree up so Penny can adjust the limbs so we can decorate it tomorrow. We will go ahead and decorate the rest of the house while we are at it. Friday I will do all the cooking for Thanksgiving at mom's. I will bake the turkey and trim it along with making dressing and cooking down a chicken for the noodles. That way I only need to heat up dinner while making noodles and rolls as my mom is making green beans, corn, and pumpkin pie. I love Thanksgiving the best because the focus is on family and faith instead of gifts. The granddaughters are at the age that they are able to do things for themselves.

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

Thought I would stop in and see if anyone responds. Not much new going on here as my pain is still elevated and making life tougher but I get through the best that I can. Thanksgiving at my mom's was a good time despite spending the following week recovering from the trip. We got our first winter storm of the year, the worst part was the 1/4" of ice before the snow. The cold has set in now so I don't have much opportunity to get out of the house.

Hello to all. Gosh, it's Dec. 16 and I have not shopped for anybody. Frankly, the only ones I want to shop for is the little great granddaughters!! Such beauty they are.

They brought her to grannies house thanksgiving for the first time. She is 3 months old and angel. the daddy put her in my lap and she promptly gave me her welcoming gift. lol Daddy was nice and took her to my bedroom and changed her. Gosh, they make such nice little things for the baby these days. I'm looking forward to Christmas, looking for 3 of the great granddaughters.

I don't know if I have been here since the last hospital visit, but I'm home and thankful I didn't have to stay so long. Dr. didn't want me to pick up any germs. I'm so run down and I had pnewmonia. Didn't have seizures this time, I thank God for that! I've got new Dr.'s and they are giving me so much to build up my immune system. I am beginning to feel better.

Good to see so many posting. We'll have to have a party soon. Maybe more will drop by. BTW, has anybody heard anything from KAT? I emailed her several times a couple months ago, but didn't hear back from her. She had emailed me several times while I was in hospital, but I didn't find them until I had been home and gone back a few times. I miss her and hope she is ok. Was glad to hear from Karen, Mark. I'm glad she has found a better life. She sure deserved it!!

Glad to hear from your little darlings, Mark. Proud Papa! You sound like Ken. He loves the little ones and can take or leave the parents. lol Beth, my daughter is doing most of my shopping. She is having a ball doing it. She loves the little ones too. She helped me out while I was in hospital. She is a Physical therapist at the hospital. She could drop in when others couldn't. She's my only little girl. lol Well, I'll stop bragging and go rest.

It's good to meet those I am just getting to know. Mark you have done a good job keeping this thread going and I thank you for that!

my love to all, Julia s

Jo, it is really good news to hear you are feeling so much better. I know you have a ways to go to get healthy again but it sounds as if you are on the right track. Having those three little ones over for Christmas will perk you up. I know when ours come over Christmas Eve I will feel better for a while. It is hard to believe Christmas is right around the corner. I called my daughter up this evening because we needed to set the time form dinner and our Christmas get together as the other family is in town too so they have that Christmas along with ours and their Christmas. Penny will be wanting to get the tree and decorations down right away. I would like to keep them up until after New Years but I will have to see how she this year. Maybe with Christm in the middle of the week she will want to wait until the weekend at least.

Jp enjoy those young ones and the rest of your family this Christmas. I am looking forward to having ours over and the time we will have together.

Hello to all. Hope Christmas was good for everybody. Of course some celabrate at different times, I wash them happy Holidays.

I'm very tired and give out. Our little 2 year old Ryleigh spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in the hospital.
I haven't heard from her Dad today. I'm praying she is home and feeling good.

Hope all will have a happy new year!

Julia, I hung on for Christmas Eve with the granddaughters were coming over but it ended up causing me a lost day on Christmas. It was a good time having them over and spending time with the little ones. Our New Year celebration just finished with fireworks. We have a giant red Apple that falls at 12:00 along with some community activities trying to bring more people downtown. My wife got back and said their were several hundred there [we are a small town].

Mark, I'm sorry about the lost day on Christmas. You know, I think I understand what you mean by the lost days. My # 2 son has stayed with me a lot when I was in hospital and after I get home. Each time it takes so much out of me and the last 3 times I have Home Health coming out to help me also.

The horrible seizure's take so much out of me. It takes me days to get back to some kind of normalcy. I have a hard time remembering, just lose my train of thought right in the middle of a sentence and I sleep and I do mean sleep!!

The kids tell each other not to call me after 3:00 p.m. because I will already be in bed. lol Tis true and I think of you when I start to feeling better.

Well, I'll go finish cleaning the living room before bedtime

Take care all and I'll see you all soon. All my love, Jo s

Hi Julia, yep I describe my lost days like my body is a cell phone battery that can get a quick charge now and then to keep going but finally it takes a long sleep to get fully rested. I call them "lost days" because I sleep the entire day and it is as if the day never existed until I ask my wife about what happened and I check a few news sites to catch up.

I hope you start doing much better now that you are back at home. It sounds like you have the same energy levels I have any more but maybe we will improve some day soon.

yes Mark, the energy level's. haven't seen any in a very long time. Something we both appear to be crazy about is the grandchildren. Now I get started and it's hard to make me be quiet.

There is still room for catching up on any spinal news. The Dr. has told me many times that he cannot "fix" anything. Well, I still have hope., and do not plan on giving HOPE up. I did lose so much while I was in and out of the hospital this past year. It would be easy to just throw up my hands and quiet, but I'm stubborn I guess.

I'm thankful for all my friends here at BT. don't know what I would do without you all. I'm thankful for them.
                              take care all, Jo

What a great group we have here, eh?
