    catching up with y'all

Chris, somehow I missed about painting Shortcake's new room. if you go to HGTV site you will find alot of info about putting stars or glitter, etc on ceilings. try Antonio Treatment site,he does really fabluous things. hope you get someone else to paint the ceiling or you will be in agony for sure. that's TOO funny about not noticing CJ in the bed.

as for the big dogs-well I shared my twin bed with a 110# dog & he would manage to curl up so I never even knew he was there. I miss him so much! sure glad I have my little doggie. all of my friends have dogs now. funny how our lives change over the years. I know all the dogs in the neighborhood. I don't know many of the people however.

yesterday I finally got out of the house! I really needed to take my mind off the emotional wringer this week has been. went shopping & got myself some fabulous new Jockey camo's. some type of new material with spandex. would go back for more but I got the only ones in my size already. then went to the only shoe store that sells Birks. the clogs I want are $125. now, so decided to wait for the annual sale in Sept. I cannot wear anything but ugly Birkenstock's! drove to another town for Chinese lunch.

and I got some seeds-nasturiums & sweet peas. well need to take a magnify glass cause I couldn't see 15' and thought it was 15" so need to figure out where to make a long trellis!and hope the deer won't eat them. stopped myself from getting pansies since the deer love those.

neighbor was here when we got back & told us his daughter got married on Valentine's day & she is expecting twins!

Joy, well certainly keep Donna in my prayer's. cancer is just plain scary. my friend is a 1 yr survivor now & I can tell it has changed her life.

this is day 11 of being back on the B12. I was walking well in all the shopping yesterday & commented to my housemate how good it felt. then got home & the pain began! I overdid it of course. so today will take it easy. weather is nasty so good day to read a book I'm thinking. not sure why but B12 seems to help me with depression I just have to use it!

Jeannie,my friend & I keep in touch by email. she comes up to see me every year. last summer I was to depressed & didn't invite a visit. obviously I know nothing about her marriage or her DH committing suicide wouldn't have come as such a shock to me. she's surrounded by her family right now & wanting alone time to just cuddle with her dog & cry.

hope y'all have a good weekend! ((((gentle hugs to all)))) Pati

Hi guys, just chillin' after painting most of the day on and off. I have learned that if I work then rest then get back to work I last longer even though it takes longer. No economy of time or effort so essentially it takes twice as long lolol. I am on like the 2nd and 3rd coat of Kilz and only have three walls worked on. I am finding that covering the nastiness is taking a lot more than I thought it would.

The Kilz I bought is ecofriendly and while it has low odor an no VOCs. It is limited in what it will cover. So I bought another gallon of Premium water based Kilz that I will go over the worst areas and ceiling with.

Jeannie we are only doing two walls with the blue. One has a window in it and the other has a wide double bifold closet door on it. I did go to the website and look at all of the combos. I am leaning towards colors that go with the rest of the house. Some sort of blue and orange were to originally be the two accent colors to the olive green in the house. I am leaning towards floating shelves for some of his things and I would like to put a shelving system in his closet. I have come across a couple of ideas for the ceiling to where it can just be painted in white ceiling paint, and then the solar system is invisible until you turn out the light. Some really beautiful ideas.

We did the glow in the dark stars on the ceiling when he was younger. Was fun. Also want to get one of those solar system ceiling lights. There are no ceiling lights in this house except for in the kitchen and in the dining room is a pretty nasty light/ceiling fan. My brother broke the glass in both of them not long ago so eventually we are looking to replace them. Here we have what is called the ReUse Store that sells stuff that is taken out of older or remodeled houses. Every thing from cabinets to doorbells. Sometimes we go in there just to see what they have. We have bought a big mailbox, two ceiling fans and some small orange cones for shortcake
the first couple of times we went in. Almost time for another trip lol.

I am watching Animal Planet if you go to this link you will see about the lady who does cat rescue and has over 700 cats. Her place is clean if you can believe that lol.

Pati have you ever tried Dr. Martens? They look clunky but they are incredibly light and they last forever. I know a few people with feet issues that swear by them. They are kinda pricey too and some are just plain ugly but there is my namesake that are really cute and a couple of other pairs. I am going to both sites and see what they have. I am in desperate need of new, good shoes.

Okay I have to submit reply here or else I will start off on another tangent lol and ya'll will be reading a novel.

I've read so much I just can't respond to everyone and everything about all that is going on. You women put me to shame. If I still had my chronic pain I would be in a total catatonic state. Yet you are all functioning and communicating and though you are are having to deal with so much each of you seem to be the most giving people I know. I know I only stick my head in here once in a great while, Please understand my illness is mental and even though I can't write and share as well as I would like, I'm reading about your lives and caring and praying for each post I read. Did that make any sense?

I'm so mad . I lost everything else that was suppose to have been being saved. I shared so much too. I'm not typing it again.

I wrote at least four other paragraphs and they are gone.
I'm tired ,, talk to you all later

          deedee ,

that's what's so great about being here. we all have our problems yet we share and understand other's, too.

you make perfect sense and we understand whatever you post and do not judge you by how much you post.

you are just part of our little family here and we love you just for who you are.

Heavens, heavens, heavens, you all have so much news that Iiiiii cannnn'ttt keeepppppppp uuupppppppp!
***Note to self -- they must lead very busy lives***

I'd have to go back quite few pages to comment on what everybody has been up to, and I got lost a few days ago attempting to do just that, so I'll just say in general "Good for you!" and/or "I'm terribly sorry!" and pray those remarks cover most bases.

But two of you are doing interior house painting, one of my favorite hobbies. I hear your pain about mutliple coats of Kilz. Have you mastered the Art of Spackle yet?

            Christina,
Please remember that dark colors tend to get depressing when it's dark out at night or in the winter. They also tend to make a room look smaller visually. Have you put up paint chips yet? Stared at them for a really long time in place? Having moved into a house two years ago that was mostly shades of tan, including dark antique almond ceilings, I've seen what a difference a clean bright white ceiling can make. It definitely reflects way more light, including that from lamps. I'll try to post my pix of the eating area in my kitchen which is a lighter slate blue with silvery grey tones on the trim and wainscoting. I've gotten lots of compliments and folks wanting the names of the colors.

            Jeannie,
Yeah, greasy kitchens, there's just no avoiding it. I have a space between the tops of my cabinets and the ceilings which my 19 yo helper complained that he couldn't get clean with the elbow grease of a martial arts dude who could break wooden planks. I'm already noticing spray and splatter behind the stove. I really wanted to put up one inch matte glass square tiles in dark aqua to emerald green tones but ran out of money for the install, tho' I have the tiles.

So what color(s) are you planning? I actually like to buy the small samples and paint them on the walls to stare at and see the colors change with the sun, lights, and time of day. Fluorescent lighting can really alter what you think you're getting. It's all about the color temperature. You'll have to show us, please?

Painting is on hold for a bit. I got all of the boxes and stuff out so now need to do something about the furniture. Can't move that all by myself.

The white paint, Ultra Pure White, is on recommendation from the paint company's Color Palette samples as the main secondary color. It is in all of the palette recommendations for our main color also with two other complimentary colors. Though there are so many different 'white' paints it wouldn't be hard to find something with a bit of tint. Plus the whole letting shortcake pick his own color I don't want to make him change it so we will see how it goes. Haven't decided yet on the ceiling. We are checking out a couple of processes.

Outta no where a little while ago we got dumped on with snow lol. All of the previous snow had melted and it has just been cold, wet and muddy. Then it blizzareded out, yes I know that's not a word ;-P, and we got about half an inch in only about 20 minutes lol. Now it is melting. Tired of this weather and am kind of glad I didn't start wintersowing my veggies. I have no idea what it would have done to my seeds.

Shortcake's colonoscopy went great. He still has some fecal material kind of stuck in there which we saw as soon as the scope was in, so hopefully that means it is close to coming out. So we will keep on going with the Mirilax, fiber supplement and he gave a scrip for glycerin suppositories to be done at night to help with the rest and if he does not have a bowel movement at least once a day then we are to try an enema. We can't even give it a chance to start to build up again. He also took tissue samples and noted that there was very little muscle mass and strength due to his bowel being stretched due to the impaction. I wish I would have made that doc do more medically course then my mom got sick while we were in process and it kinda fell to the wayside for a few. Whatever can't change the past.

Okay been working on this too long and I'm not even sure I said what I wanted. Power nap time lolol.

                might need a rowboat soon........

Chris,we might get snow by the weekend! ugh bet Shortcake is gonna feel like a new human before long!it took me 2 yrs to paint the inside of my trailer (covered dark 70's walls). that was back when I didn't trust myself to boil water so I took it slow.HA!

it's been raining steady here & we have new little ponds everywhere. one of the passes was closed 11hrs for avalanche work. terrible when 4 guys were killed over the weekend caught in avalanches.

well yesterday I decided to go buy myself a new recliner while on sale. luckily it wasn't raining. tried to convince my housemate to get one also (savings of $150),but he was in a tightwad mood. mine is brown leather & a modern design. BIG splurge for me!

bulbs are coming up in the fields so hope it doesn't freeze here. our weather isn't same as Seattle so hard to predict.

I'm watching 6 quails skettering across the yard. used to count as many as 30 at one time. guess the food is better somewhere else?

miss reading from alot of you! come back & post please.

OOOOOoooo la de dah! The pewter dressy shoes came in today around lunchtime, many days before their due date on FRI-SAT. I'm wearing them around the house to make certain that they fit because they are a new brand for me, plus they seem a hair short in the open back where there's a slightly raised heel cup or edge. Reviews say they stretch, so we'll see if that happens. Very cute and NOT orthopedic-looking.

I'm wearing the allergy patch test on my back in a gridwork of paper tape for another day till the allergist appointment. Not feeling any itching so I'm worried that the week of oral prednisone is dampening my allergic responses to both tests. If that's case, then I fall on my sword.

Also waiting for word from my eye surgeon cousin's friend in Philly about seeing me for a consult. He's been away all last week and still wasn't in the office yesterday. This guy does "plastics and otic" work, so he'd be the right one to have a look. My eyes are still teary and not in focus after [let me go count] 5 full weeks. Frustration! When I told her, my sister was true to her unsympathetic self, but I should know that by now.

I'm dying for a new pain med since I had to quit Tramadol for the Pristiq interactions. Tylenol #3 w/ codeine is giving me severe stomach pains even when I take it with Gaviscon. My other options on hand are Fioricet for migraines or Methocarbamol for muscle spasms. But I'm having arthritis/bursitis pain, so... The GP and the Rheumy both have No Narcotics rules, so I guess I have to find a pain doc/clinic. Argh, no new docs! I don't want to have to strain 'em and train 'em. :ambivalence:

For what it's worth, here's a shot of my kitchen corner with light slate blue on top and silvery grey below.

                    Sher, very beautiful kitchen color.

Chris, so happy to see that shortcake is having his own bedroom. We painted my daugher's room dark blue with the stickers of the stars and planets. It turned out very nice. I still left the stars up after she moved out and we repainted the room.

Patti, your chair sounds pretty. You sure have been out shopping. Good for you.

We are redoing our bathroom and the contractor is coming very eary in the morning to start the ceiling. It was popcorn texture but when the kids were little they got the ceiling wet and then it got mold on it. So DH took the popcorn off and now we are going with a flat texture.

I brought a new shower curtain and am painting it a blue gray. My shower curtian is blue grey and brown.

We had a nice time in Las Vegas. I'm still worn out from the trip. It sure went fast. We didn't rent a car so after DH's conference we just walked around and people watched. Oh yeah, forgot we went to a show. It was a comedy. Very funny. The latest we stayed up was 11:30. We don't gamble much.

Now we need to plan our other trip to New orleans and the other places we are going to stop. We plan on doing Arkansas, Mississippi, Memphis, and Florida. All in twelve days. We are renting a car. We don't like to run our cars that hard. We drive about eight hours a day.
                    Take care,
                    Dawn

Dawn, you are very brave to travel all these places, but then you aren't older than dirt like I am. :) I hope you have much fun.

Yes, everybody is so so busy. ME, Well Mr. Jo's mother board blew up and he has had to wait over a week to finally get another one. He wanted to do it himself, it is still under warrenty so they said THEY had to do it. Well the guy changed boards and ran, before he was out of site Mr. Jo was pulling his hair out. He can not use some of his stuff and he is livid. He can't get his mail, can't get any in. He is having to use my puter to email the guys he works with. those of you that knows Mr. Jo knows how he is freaking out. the phone will probably blow up by the time he gets in touch with the Comuter Company.

Then I could get into BT, don't know what I did to cause such a problem, but Mike sent me instructions, like step 1, step 2, step 3 etc. He is such a good guy. I know we all love him. WE'll have to back him a cake sometime, eh?

Then I had the muther of all migraine's yesterday morning. Was sick as a dawg all day, took the limit on my meds, slept better last night, but have felt hung over all day.

Now there are problems with the Estate settlement, nothing he has done or not done, but sis must have done something because he has called her several times tonight. Each time he is off the phone yelling at me.

take care everyone. I feel for you Jo with mr. jo without his puter to work on

Oh Joy, so good to see you!! you are right about mr. jo. He has acted AWFUL!! I told him he was acting like a spoiled rotten 2 year old brat!! He stomps off, end of conversation!

Now I'm just not saying much to him. Tired of getting yelled at, especially since I've done nothing to deserve it. Thins are going bad with sister buying the house, the bank and a lawyer. Don't have a clue who the lawyer is working for, but he refused to sign some papers about her buyung to house until the lawyer explained some things to him. So, that took place yesterday. All afternoon on phone with the computer place. Still things are not right.

He is down in his pout house and I hope he stays ther until he can speak in a civil tone!!

WEll, better go to bed. Maybe I can get some sleep while he is out. I need the rest. I am a bit sick, but all of this together is driving me crazy.

Mike helped me get my computer straigthened out. So far so good. It's good to be back.

Hello to everybody. My love and good wishes to all, julia
