all i do is think about politics and if world war 3 will come-some seem to be greasing the skids for chaos i think

im always uneasy or mad--guess the devil is happy though

Clouds, I try hard not to think about politic's, but it is impossible not to think about all that is going on these days. I get very nervous thinking about it.

The Dr. ordered a scooter for me last week. Don't have it yet, got to talk to Beth. She is a physical therapist and she orders stuff like that for the hospital. In a way it made me very depressed. I use the walker everywhere I go, but can't go very far before I give out. I don't know, I'll try to just be thankful for what I have and stop stewing over things I can't change.

I hope all are well and happy.

        all my love, Julia s

Well, back to just me, all alone. We got snow all night last night. It's stopped for now, but we are supposed to get more tomorrow night. Of course that could change. I don't like the snow, hard enough to get out as it is.

When I went to Dr. Friday I stopped at Belk's, got a pair of boots. They come up just past my ankles, but hopefully they will keep me from falling. Also bought some other things. Now if I could get someone to take me places I could wear my new clothes.

I don't have my scooter yet. Not sure I even want one. I just know if I go anyplace that involves much walking I will need it. I've been using my treadmill more. I know it helps, but I sure am shaky when I'm on it. I never get on it unless Ken is near by. I don't like depending on people for every little thing. I do appreciate all the help Ken gives me. I know I growl and grumble about him , but he is very good to me. I am lucky to have him.

The snow is pretty, but I'm tired of it. Daylight Savings Time starts March 8th. Spring is soon, but don't remember the date. I'm going to put some flowers on my front porch. I will be able to get out in my yard and work with my flowers , hoping my iris's will come back up. Got to work on some of my holly bushes. One is taller that the house. lol I planted 2 in my flower boxes. They were supposed to get only 2 foot. Well, they got much taller, and I got Ken to cut them back. Actually they looked nice. It's time for him to cut back all my shrub's.

Well, what's going on with everybody else? Jeannie, you are painting or you have already finished painting. You are fast and don't wait around. I enjoy reading about all your projects.

Dawn, I enjoy reading about your trips. How was Vagas ? I know you enjoyed FL. Tell us all the things you did? Joy, tell us about your new pet. I know you are enjoying the new kitten. I'm glad you have it to keep you company. Has anybody heard from Pati? I hope so and its good news. I miss here!!

Clouds, do you remember DeWolf? I read in another forum that he had died. I hated to read that. I really thought a lot of him. We have lost so many recently. I guess we are all getting old, but I want to live as long as I can. I just miss the ones so many of us have known for many years.

Mal hope to hear from you soon. All others we are missing. It was good to hear from Mike. He is doing great in school. He keeps things going here too and I'm very proud of him. He is a fine fellow.

well take care all, Julia s

Jo, I think once you start to use your scooter you will enjoy it. My FIL loves his. I can't beleive you can get out and do yard work. We are no where near being able to get in the yard with all the snow and the ground still frozen.

It was nice going to vegas and getting out of the cold. The weather was so nice down there we sat by the pools. The sun was shinning the whole time we were down there. We sat at the pool at Monte Carlo where we stayed. The hotel lobby is beautiful. Which most of the hotels on the strip have fancy lobbies. We love sitting at the pool at Ceasers Palace. They have statues all over the pool area of atheans gods.

I always go to the M&M store there on the strip. There is five floors of M&M stuff. Lots of candies too. Of course I buy a bunch of M&Ms because they are so fresh. We went to dinner with Jerry's conference people. Very nice resturant on the strip. Very expensive. The food was great. The wine was flowing. lol.

I don't gamble because I always lose because I don't know what I'm doing. Jerry keeps me away from it. lol. I just love going to the different hotels and seening their lobbies. Lots of money floating around there. There is lots of young adults in vegas. I always feel kinda of old when I"m there. I think the older people now go to laughlin, NV. You don't see that many people over the age of 55. Of course this time we were in bed by 10:00 p.m. every night since jerry had to get up early everyday.

Maybe next year we will stay a extra day there. This time we pretty much got in on Wednesday night and left at 7:00 a.m Satuday morning. So not much time to do things. I did sit at the pool all by myself which is different for me. I seem to get lost in the casinos.

We are going to a hotel that has a msytery play that everyone gets involved in while you have a dinner. I will be leaving for montana next month. I will be there until my daughter has the baby. Planning on being there for three to four weeks. If she doesn't throw me out before then. We are so much a like that we seem to get in little fights all the time.

            Until next time.
            Take care,
            Dawn

              hey everyone !

glad your hives are gone, clouds! winter weather makes your skin drier, maybe making hives more common. staying hydrated is important!

dawn, i'm glad you had such great weather in vegas! it is so frikking cold here! i take out the dogs first thing in the morning and i put my coat on over my robe and a knit cap and gloves and i stand out there for 5 minutes until they get done sniffing and doing other stuff. i HATE these mornings lately. yesterday, it was so windy that even though it was relatively warm (16 degrees...lol), it felt like it was below zero. i went to a casino for the first time with my boyfriend dan early in february. there are 3 casinos within 5 miles here downtown. i set a limit of $5. i lost it all. i don't understand how people can sit there and press a button or pull a lever and watch spinning numbers or whatever for hours! i love m&m's! i refuse to eat them...lol. i hope everything goes well with the birth of your new grandbaby. remember, we all want to know the stats of the birth...weight, height, etc.

julia! i'm so glad to see you! you know, i understand how independent you are and how you would hate to depend on a scooter ((((hugs)))....but, i think being able to do more stuff will be good. the keppra and your copd and lack of strength due to being sick for so long have taken a toll on your body's energy supply. using a scooter would help you conserve the energy you do have and you'll prolly be able to do more! you might get stronger by using the scooter and be able to use it less and when you don't want to use it when you go somewhere. just see it as a pair of crutches to use until a broken leg heals. you'll be able to go more places when it gets warmer, too! i am sure we will meet one day, big sis! and yes, you can boss me around about watching myself when i paint. i have a 3 step ladder and i only go up to the middle step because i'm afraid of heights and also because i'm tall enough that i can easily reach the ceiling from the middle step.

so, i have painted the first coat on. i see some peeling around the window, so i have to do some scraping before i finish that part. i am taking a break because i have a little infection that should be gone by next monday. the antibiotics i am taking for it are causing nausea even though i take the antibiotics with food like i am supposed to. i also scheduled my dr.'s appointments for the first week of march, so i'll see my doctor and dentist then. i'll be able to get back to painting then...unfortunately, i wanted to be done by now!!!! march is next week. with it being so cold however, i don't think i mind staying in and painting.

joy, i saw your post and i'm glad you are doing well! fig, i hope you are doing well, also. to those we haven't heard from in awhile, we miss you! please come back!

              love to you all !

thank you for sharing and caring,
              jeannie

Hi. We're still in the deep freeze here. It was zero this morning, by 2pm we reached 20*!!!! It's supposed to snow tomorrow night...wow.

Not much going on here. I'm not doing a whole lot...I'm pretty tired, my sleep isn't good. I wake up every morning at 2 or 3am, and wake frequently during he night. But, I'm coping. Got to, right?

My dear birds are my saving grace. Skye (the Quaker) is so funny and sweet. He's talking so much, and he laughs and coughs. The other day he bit my nose, then croaked "Don't bite!" and laughed. Little imp.

SLY!! Long tome no hear! It is so good to hear from you. I hope all is well and things are looking up for you and family.. I hope you will post more and give us all the news. Wee sure have missed you. I have been out a long time, but things are looking up for me and I am thankful for that!

Clouds, Fig has some really neat birds. Maybe she will write more about them. I'm wondering if Dawn's grandbaby is here yet. I'm wondering if anybody has snow today. It's been warm here and I'm glad. I took a walk yesterday and it felt so good to be out where it was warm. About 70 degree's. It's warm today, but it's raining.

I saw my Jonquil and crocus' are blooming. I really know it is almost spring!! I saw some Iris peaking out of the periwinkle . Ken is going to have to get rid of that periwinkle. It grows all over the place and it is hard to kill it. It would be a good ground covering, like on a small bank, but it just goes wild. It's kind of like Ivy. I've had some near a huge pecan tree. It's been there ever since we moved here 37 yrs. ago. Two years ago it took a growing spurt, climbed all aver the pecan tree. I mean that tree is hugh. Now it is full of Ivy. Really weird. I have a holly bush that grew over top of the house. I have some very weird plants.

Got to go get some rest. Love to all, Julia s

                            hey everyone !

                            feeling better this week!

glad you got out for a walk, julia! 70's, huh? i think we'll be there in about late may or early june...lol. i went cross-country skiing with my bf last sunday and there was still about a foot and a half of snow on the ground. cross-country skiing is basically skiing on flat ground covered with snow. you push out with your legs, like when you're skating and then you step, glide and push with your poles. i haven't got the movement down perfectly yet, but i'm getting better! i also learned how to play euchre, which isn't as hard as i thought it would be. i am really not good at competitive card games, i like to play solitaire and i used to play a lot of 500 pick-up rummy with my ex.

i've seen a couple of doctors this week and had a test, so i haven't caught up on my painting, but i did do the scraping. i love doing stuff with d, but i have to tell him i need time to myself, also. i didn't expect to meet anyone, although i was hoping i would, and i find it hard to be together so much, ya'll know what i mean?? i told d that once gardening season started, i would be busy in the evenings, because i am NOT a morning person and it is too hot in the afternoon in the middle of summer to do yard work, so i work in the evenings. spring and fall i will go out in the afternoon when it's warm because it still gets dark early and it's warmer in the middle of the day.

so, i have a pic for ya'll. it was the day we went skiing and to the aquarium on sunday. it's on belle isle, which is now a state park. it's in the middle of the detroit river and it's basically grass, picnic spots, picnic shelters and river views and the aquarium, the conservatory and the great lakes museum. they have hydroplane races on the river, which are noisy and i can hear them down here at my house. belle isle is a great place to view those and the race promoters sell tickets for prime viewing areas. in the summer they have a car track for nascar or some kind of car race. i don't know which one because i'm not interested in that and if you've seen one car race, you've pretty much seen them all.... i hope i can put up the little video of the stingray racing around the tank in the aquarium, but if i can't, you'll only see the pic of me.

the snow bank i climbed up was plowed snow on belle isle and it was a good 4 to 4 and a half feet high. it was a nice day, but foggy. i'm sitting on the snow and the detroit skyline is behind me as is the frozen detroit river at that spot. there is the bridge that you get onto the island there, right at the bottom of the skyline. if i get the video of the stingray up, it will be cool. okay, i see i can't do the video. i'll have to find out how. click on that whole blue line to see the pic
