OT Febuary Chit Chat Part II

:) Hi everyone. Cherie I'm having the same problems with my David not resting and overdoing it. Yesterday he washed the car and today he went for a motorcycle ride. He looks pale so I got him to put some B12's under his tongue. He is finally sitting down in the recliner.

My DIL just had more radiation as they found a small area that they think is more cancer. She will have a CT scan next week to see if they got it. She still had not gotten back her strength from all the chemo and radiation before, so now she is wiped out and staying in the bed for the most part. My son (her husband) has his first doctor appointment in years next week. He finally has insurance through his new job.

I read everything and I am ok. Jeanie :)

I guess too many people believe the saying "No pain no gain." Definitely NOT good advice. :s

Cherie, I hope you noticed the cautions on the Netipot.
1. Do not use water straight from the tap. Distilled or sterlizied water instead.
2. Do not use within an hour of bed.
3. Do not use if excessive mucus.

Other than that, it is fantastic.

:) Hi everyone. I'm glad to see Howie on the board again.

The continuing David Saga: This morning I was going to stay in bed awhile and see if I could go back to sleep. David had ridden his motorcycle to the local outdoor flea market. The phone rang and it was David, his bike had broken down. I went to get him and he came home and got the trailer and left to get the bike.

I tried to get him to let me call my son to meet him there to help him get the bike on the trailer but he said no. I just hope he does not do any damage to his liver doing that.

My DIL had radiation for a new spot they found and next week they will do a CT scan and see if it is gone. She still has burn damage from all the old radiation and chemo. My son is having a physical next week, his first in ages as he now has insurance. I am praying he gets a clean bill of health.

Mother is about the same but now she has to see 2 doctors a month as her PCP cannot prescribe her pain meds, she has to go to a pain doctor for those with the new Florida law. Luckily Bill has been able to take her and get them filled, etc.

No letter from the DMV yet so I am hoping they let me skip taking the test this year. Also our house tax deduction for being over 65 and disabled is being questioned and we have to take all our tax stuff to the tax collectors office one day.

David's CT scan is scheduled for 3/20. Jeanie :)

I think the guys are fighting tooth and nail to maintain their independence. Saturday I drove David to three appointments and then to the office to write up a sales agreement. Then a friend picked him up and took him to his house where they negotiated a sale on property the friend wanted to buy and the friend dropped David off at church to meet me, go to Mass and come home for dinner with another friend. Sunday He had two appointments at 11 and 12 then a 2 hour open house with 5 different groups coming through (good...since it was really out in the woods on a lake). Then he spent nearly 5 hours throughout the rest of the day back and forth on the two offers that were on the table. Today I drove him to two appointments then he worked at the office for 4 hours , I picked him up and brought him home and after dinner, he was out working on his car with a friend.

He's only 12 days post op and was told that for 6 weeks he could not lift anything heavier than 5 pounds and had to wear a soft collar everytime he got in a car and could not drive for 4-6 weeks. He just wrote the doc a note saying he was almost back to normal and planned to resume driving within the week. ARGH!!!!

I have to admit that all the extra work for him in addition to what I normally do is beginning to wear me out. MS symptoms are still at bay and that is good! Before starting the Cytoxan 2.7 years ago, I could not have done a quarter of what I am now doing and so many of the residual symptoms that have been present for years all the time are peeling back. Things are good and the cold is rapidly resolving.

I have really grow to hate summers. Is there anywhere to go that's cool and brisk for the summer?

You could go to the coast of Maine or the White Mts of NH. It's usually cooler and less humid there when we need to get away from heat and humidity here.

Snow drops and crocuses are blooming here and the magnolia tree, which usually starts to bloom a day or two before Easter (40 days from now) has huge bud sacs on it (way too early). It got up to 52 here this afternoon.

Had some computer problems, well problems with the new modem/router. They seem to be resolved I am the person who when I call tech support they say "hmmm I have never HAD that problem before." So I keep poking around and got it fixed so much for paying the extra money to have someone else fix it.

Had a nice time this weekend got my MIL house cleaned and all the little things fixed touched up the paint fixed toilets that keep running. Yup I am the maintenance man extraordinaire. I told her to stop calling someone as every time she does I spend 3 days refixing stuff. There should be a special place in he#% for contractors that take advantage of someone old and unable to do stuff themselves. Come on $255.33 to install a new rubber flapper in the toilet? Everybody deserves to make a decent living but that is plain criminal. total parts $7.00 total time to install 3 minutes not including my time to drive to the hardware store and they left the chain so long it was caught in the drain part and kept the toilet running they told her the toilet was worn out and needed to be replaced. And they could get on it in 3 days and it would cost $752.33 .

My cold is gone and the MS is quiet so all is good except for my knees I am sorry that I had the arthroscopic surgery 2 years ago they are just the same again I dont know if I should go back and do it again or what. Opinions anyone? My let knee is shot and I need to have it replaced but I hate to think that I need to have BOTH of them replaced. If I would have know I was going to fall apart I would have taken better care of myself.

It was 54 deg and sunny today. Not quite tee shirt weather but its close!

The cold is gone. PTL!

And David is finding a routine. He has 4-6 good hours a day and if I get him 3 hours into the day and bring him home for horizontal time, it actually seems to give him an 8 hour work day. Today was 6 hours at the office then an hour horizontal and he is still fighting fatigue but the pain is all but gone. Tomorrow is a busy day with at least 4 appointments that I will be driving him to with two different sets of clients (about 60 miles total driving). He has managed to put together three different sales agreements on homes in the past 4 days so we will have some income second quarter (first is a total wash except my SSDI).

Hi everyone,, surgery went well,, but instead of a 2 hour surgery, it was a 6 hour surgery,,. my fibroids were the culprit,, but got to go home the next day,,

hardly any pain,, Joe does the cleaning and cooking,,, and buys supper, to take home,, {its a guy thing},, also was told, no heavy lifting, no housework,,, for 2 weeks,,, I feel so much better,,

Wonderful news! My fibroids had grown to the point where open abdomen was the only way to go. Uterus was the sixe of a 30 week pregnancy and weighed 18 pounds. I felt so much better after having it gone and I know you will too.
