OT Febuary Chit Chat Part II

Peg's back in the saddle again! (Well, not quite back in the saddle yet but I'm sure it won't be long.)

Keep on recovering there. These things take time.

It seems we are getting good news again.
Cherie and Gary are cold free.
Cherie's David is in a routine which so far doesn't overtax him.
Peg's surgery went well.

Even better about Dave's recovery is that he is finding his center of what he can do and what is ultimatly too exhausting or painful. And he is starting to regulate himself. It helps that everyone in his office is monitoring and won't let him out the door without the soft collar and it helps that three sets of clients he is working with are doing the same and insisting on driving him where they need him to be rather than meeting him there.

We're off for a couple days in the mountains after breakfast tomorrow. An inch + of snow here today with temps just above freezing so lots of slush and white. However, I just saw the forecast and it's still snowing where we're headed with another 9-12 inches before it stops later tomorrow. Have people who used our home for school vacation leaving late in the day so I'm going up to clean and should be back in a couple days. We'll see how David does with the 4-5 hours in the car each way.

:) Hi everyone I hope y'all dont get the awful virus I had. I go it the 19th and had it until this morning. I could not stand long enough to get my pants up or down. Wound up getting my son to come help David get me off the floor. My fever was 104.2 the first night and it just made me weak.

The next time I hit the floor David called 911 instead of my son who is only 5 minutes away. Later that second night he called them again and they insisted on taking me to the ER. A waste of several hours as thet said I had the flu, DUH!!! He also told David if they came again they would take me to a nursing home. I am still upset that he did not call Andy as
Andy lifts weights and is more than willing to come anytime and he can get me up by himself. David does not need to try with his surgery.

This morning I was awake when David got up at 7 and asked him to help me to the bathroom he did. Them when I was ready to get up I called and there was no answer. I foung my legs are very close to what is normal for me and got up ok. I got dressed and came in the comuter room I called his cell when I had to go again and it went to voicemail. I can see him outside with his TV on loud. I made myself some lunch and had calls from David's mom, my mom and sister and Andy.

It is now 2:30 and he has not come in once to check on me and I am hurt and baffled by that. Thanks for being here for my vent. Thankfully I am able to do for myself again. Jeanie :)

First, that was a very rude remark the 911 responders made about taking you to a nursing home.

Second, I would feel livid mad and hurt that David has blocked you out this morning/afternoon. I'm sure you realize that he is dealing w his own crisis but usually you are a team. Even so, I'd be very mad.

Oh Jeanie, that just makes me want to cry. Maybe that's his lame manlike way of telling you, that because of his health problems, you shouldn't depend on him as your caregiver right now. In retrospect, you probably should have call your Son at the start.

He doesn't want you to go to a nursing home so maybe he is staying clear for fear of having to call 911 again.

Talk with him, I am sure that that's all it is. Tell him that until he is better, you will call your Son, but to please not desert you....it hurts!!!

Sounds like the 911 guys are jumping to conclusions and not using their common sense (in addition to being lazy). Obviously with a high fever you would be weak and possibly not being able to get around. A nursing home for a fever? That's ridiculous. A nursing home would be for chronic conditions ( and then not necessarily the best choice), not for a passing condition like a fever. :ambivalence:

I echo what Sally said and agree with Ann. I don't have an answer or a solution for that matter. But I have to wonder if he is in an "overload" situation. Don't get me wrong I am not making excuses but offering a viewpoint. When my wife was Dx a couple of years ago with COPD and very nearly died as a result of a flare I acted in a less than a caring way in that I tried to distance myself as she has been MY caregiver and I (selfishly) thought what am I gonna do? Until then it never occurred to be how hard it is to see your spouse/SO seriously ill.

Spring is coming!! I saw the largest V formation of Canadian Geese flying north. The song birds are slowly returning. I know it really is spring when the humming birds return and dive bomb me on the porch if the feeders are not filled (true story!) they also bomb the little dogs and the cats.

Doing okay MS is still being quiet knock on wood.

:) Hi everyone. Thanks for your ideas. I do think David is a bit overwhelmed and worried I won't be able to take care of him.

Yesterday I was able to get myself in and out of the bathroom, fix my own lunch, etc. I did go to bed early and slept really good. I was up at 4 to pee but otherwise sleeping.

David is outside working on his bike. At some point we need to go to the grocery store. I am back to about 80% of what is normal for me. Jeanie

I really do feel that this is the case. From the mans viewpoint I think we are hardwired to "fix" something and we dont know how to react. Not saying that we cant learn. But in a stressful situation such as this we tend to REact inappropriately rather that think things through.

We are suppose to have rain/snow for the next couple of days but today the sun is shining and the woodpeckers have returned they are on the Harvestore silos hammering away. The silos are steel and 65' high and 18' across and it sounds like machine guns going off around the farm.
