There are so many scams out there. It is well known that that corporations are out-sourcing phone work.
No biggie. Anyone would w/a half brain would want a phone number in one's homeland so that if the call
was a scam it could be more easily traced and maybe prosecuted by US authorities.
I have never heard of anyone receiving such a call from a corporation.

On occasion I have a terrible time understanding overseas representatives.
The same thing goes for NY city busdrivers and phone reps in the southeastern US.

Virginia- Pizza Guy found these links to "India Cold Call Scam." One from the Guardian and one from Microsoft. It is not new but I hadn't heard of it.

Back home from the hospital. Lots of antibiotics and fluids and other assorted meds. We have a new hospitaloist and was convinced I had a stroke so they did a CT and panicked I have white matter lesions (LOTS OF THEM) I guess they forgot to tell them I have MS. They wanted to ship me to either Portland or Salt Lake City took a while to convince them it was normal for me anyway. It helps to have 2 kids that can talk doctor speak. They talked to my PCP and straightened it out.

                Nap time.......

                  Gary,
Glad you're home and things are straightening out. Good to have family able to go to bat for you when a doc thinks they know more about you than you do.

We're off early Sunday morning headed to Orlando to get the ship for the MS Cruise Sunday afternoon. I will not be checking email probably till we get home on May 7th so don't worry if I am off the radar when May Chit Chat begins. I will be teaching a program on my water exercise routine, "Rehab My Way" and if there is time and interest, we will finish the program at the Spa Pool where I will demonstrate some of the moves in the routine. I am doing a PowerPoint presentation with lots of pictures of the various exercises but it often helps to see them actually being done rather than a still shot.

Then I will be doing a cooling product demo after lunch the same day. Steele and Polar Products and Heat Relief Depot have all sent samples for me to demo and some are duplicates so I will have several accessory items to raffle off at the end of the cruise. I am taking the two new vests I made along with a couple patterns of each. The patterns are selling for $20 on the ship (mailed ones inside the US will add $2 for postage) and $5 of that will go to the MSF (on the ship) or the MS Charity of choice outside of the cruise.

Knee and shoulder are still talking to me from when I slipped and fell three weeks ago. I've been doing the exercises the massage therapist gave me but neither seems to be getting better. We do have a PT on the MS Cruise faculty so I may see if she has any other suggestions to heal this. Generally when we go on a cruise, I try to use the stairs as often as possible so I don't gain weight with all the extra food but stairs both up and down are difficult at this point in time. We shall see.

Enjoy the cruise, Cherie! Hope you can take it easy.

Gary, that's quite a story about your hospital experience. Glad you're back in one piece!

Hospitalists have been getting a lot of attention lately. Apparently they're becoming very common. When I more or less figured out what their function is, I had my doubts, and precisely because of the kind of thing that happened to you.

Supposedly the hospitalist has access to your medical records, but still that's one more person added into the mix, and at some point too many cooks spoil the broth... That's just my take on it.

About 7 or 8 years ago Hospitalists took over all inpatient care in our hospital. Docs cannot see their own patients in house any more. We have some good ones and the team includes several nurse practitioners and PAs that work in the team and that, IMO, helps to really make the care better all around.

Positive information about hospitalists is certainly welcome because they're definitely becoming part of the picture. Thanks, Cherie.

Sis had the surgery Thursday. Her DIL was to take her home the next morning. The doc is confident all cancer cells were removed. Thanks for the good vibes.

Back from Kelardasht yesterday. We replaced the single paned (metal frame) windows for double paned PVC windows. Spent time reinstalling the curtain rods and washing curtains. On the next trip we'll complete those tasks. All that activity had my buttocks spasm on me.

I am really tired of having MS. Seems like one thing leads to another........... When you are up to your butt in alligators its hard to remember that all you wanted to do was drain the swamp.

I talked to daughter about hospitalist. She has good things and bad things to say. One of her positive things is there is always a doc around (besides the ER doc) and in the CCU they don't have time to hunt someone down and as the ER only has one Dr on duty if he has to handle an emergency code the ER backs up. One of the problems is local internal med guys have their own practice and they took turns with assigned patients. As this is a rural area many of the Dr's farm as well. More than once she has talked to a doc on call and had to yell to hear over the cows. She mentioned that our hospital is one of the only ones left that still does paper charting and most of the new younger docs have no idea how to process any orders.

Feeling a bit better this morning being home helps.

Does anyone have a cure for heartburn? I take Prevacid and started on Ranitidine but it is still waking me up. I am open to suggestions.

                              Gary,
Have you raised the head of the bed on blocks so your head is always elevated a bit? (6-8" is what the GI docs recommend)

When my Mom goes into the hospital, she is admitted by her hospitalist. That doc rounds on her and coordinates w the specialists. There is a meeting every week at the group practice that includes their hospitalist.

This doc, a woman, called me regarding concerns about mom and discharge planning. Works for me.

Gary, please, please, stop doing this crisis thing. It's scary. Sorry about the stroke scare!
