Peg, beautiful pup. What breed is it? Looks like a hunting/water dog to me too, but what do I know. Daughter takes her dog swimming every day, can't keep her out of the water. Newfoundlands have very webbed toes, are used in water rescue and love the water. She took her over to meet a friend and the dog got right in her friend's small fish pond and laid down with the koi!

Today is our 41st anniversary. Who woulda thunk! Hubby even remembered . . wow.

Renee, the comment about the garbage pile immediately brought to mind one of my favorite commercials of all time, the one where the guy is skiing down the pile of fertilizer. Can't even remember what it was for but I loved it. Speaking of memory . . . what's that?

Hotlanta is finally cooling down into the 90's. The AC on my old 92 model cadillac went out this week. Due to the age I may have to do without unless I can locate some of the freon used before the new freon came out. Thank goodness we have 2 others for backups. The paratransit bus comes within 1/4 mile of my house but even though I qualified due to being disabled I still cannot ride it because I am outside of the grid. It's not a door to door transportation system so it's not much use anyway. That's a fight for another time.

My husband is still not recovering and we are still seeking a diagnosis. We went for his brain MRI and EMG last week but the neuro is on vacation this week. He has lost so much weight everyone who we meet who knows him looks at me as if I have with held his food and water. His swallowing and choking problem is getting worse. I've got insomnia and pain issues but had to get off the meds as the side effects were keeping me in bed all the next day. All I want to do is sleep!

Sam is a English Springer Spaniel, before I got sick,, we raised them and trained them for obedience classes, the boys showed them in county and state fairs. I was the 4/H dog trainer,, when our older female Annie died a month ago, we went on a hunt,, found this one,, we were thrilled we did,,..029.jpg

:) Hi evertyone. I went out to get my Rx's and stopped and ate at the local restaurant. Then I came home and watched the Capitol 4th on TV and the Macy's 4th on my smaller set at the same time.

I'm glad I was inside. Two people were victims of some people shooting off guns into the air. One lady had the bullet land in her heart and she is in ICU. WPB has become a gun city. We've had 8 people shot by sheriffs who would not put down a gun. Many guns have been found in students back packs here. I am glad I am not raising my children in today's world.

My Mother's phone went out and I spent over an hour talking to a machine at AT&T before I finally got a human and could tell them her life alert is on that and 3 days is not good and she cannot go out to get help. So they moved her phone from Friday to yesterday morning so it was only out one day. It was uncomfortable not being able to check on her on the phone.

David was only about 50 miles from DC but he said he was going to watch on TV rather than taking the
RV. To unhook it and traffic and parking etc. he thought would be too much. He is homesick and worrying a lot. I hope his meeting with the transplant lady after the MRI on the 9th gives him some info that is helpful. I miss him a lot too.

Peg does a Springer Spaniel need to be groomed every month? The puppy is cute.

The dog days of summer have arrived it is suppose to hit 100+ for the next few days. Needless to say I am not going to be doing much outside. When it starts to get hot I can walk out to the car and I look like I fell in a swimming pool. With the MS I cant take the heat and my heat regulation system is shot to pieces.

Really hot weather or really cold weather does a number on me. I imagine that most people know this but it just occurred to me. I knew about the heat but not the cold. But with the cold you can always put on another sweater.

Peg the puppy is wonderful. I am not sure that I would have the patience to train a puppy. We raised Golden Retrievers and Miniature Schnauzers for years and we are down to 2 mini's left. My son thinks we should get another big dog and I told him he should get a big dog and I will come to HIS house to visit it.

Jeanie I (and everyone else) am keeping you guys in our thoughts. The separation is stressful please take care of yourself too.

I am still dealing with trying to find a refinance for our place. More stress.
Enough of that.

The garden is ready to pop! The peas are finally producing and the tomatoes have set a ton of fruit. I planted yellow pear and red grape tomatoes. They are the ones that don't make it into the house. People eat them in the garden so this year I planted extra plants. I also planted Roma's so my wife will make me salsa. I hate fresh tomatoes so she cuts them up tiny and I can eat them. There are only 2 things I just cant eat, fresh tomatoes and cooked asparagus. The local farmers produce stand should open anytime and I cant wait for fresh corn, something I don't grow anymore as well as melons. They just take too much room and there are just 2 of us I already grow enough stuff for an army. And I can only do so much before it gets out of control.

A Farmer who hates fresh tomatoes...THANK YOU, I've been validated and vindicated......I also hate fresh tomatoes (even the smell) and yet love tomato sauce or soup (not chunky though). I will pick large pieces of tomato out of my food.

Gary, I have an impression that creditors and bankruptcy judges tend to be more lenient if most of your debt is for medical expenses. It's too bad to have to file for bankruptcy but a person does survive it. I filed for bankruptcy under Chapter 7, and that was 9 years ago. I was able to get a credit card not long after the bankruptcy case was settled in spite of everything you may have heard about your credit being ruined. Not true.

People putting up with the heat have an extra hard row to hoe. I hope it will cool off, and in the meantime I hope there's air conditioning wherever you are.

Thanks Agate I edited my post. Too much whining and it sounded bad after I read it.

Sally I have been doing the exact same thing all my life. My wife gave up years ago and either chops the tomatoes into tiny pieces or omits them.

I realized that the heat back east is not only coupled with humidity but most of those parts of the country are not used to it. At least in the west we expect it to hit 100 degrees. A couple of years ago Boise had 20 days that were 100 or above.

:) Hi everyone. I had a HEAT day. I woke this morning to no power. I called the power company and they said 11:30, then 1 PM, then 3:30, then 6:30. 10 hours and inside the house got to 92 degrees. I kept using a wet washcloth and sitting still. At 7:10 the power finally came back on.

I feel like a limp noodle after my day of heat. My son was going to come at 8 and try to get the generator we have for hurricanes going. I am glad we did not have to do that. I also missed being able to get online or to watch espn3.com Wimbledon tennis today.

Gary I wish I knew a solution but I don't. You are in my prayers as are all the board posters. Jeanie :)

BUT if cooked right- perhaps in a tomato based sauce with LOTS of garlic...heaven.

I remember Denver being a lot easier to live in at 92 than the usual 92 or higher in the northeast.
This is the first summer in 11 years that I don't have daily respite in an air conditioned workplace.
My van AC gets fixed on monday and in the meantime I must be careful.
Went berserk yesterday and got my hair cut boy length, 1 to 2 1/2" long.
The multi pierced, black and blonde haired stylist kept asking me,
"You know this is going to be short, right?"
Yup, Grace Jones, here I come. ;>)

This pm I did the last three hours of the neuro psych exam.
How humiliating.
Then rush hour traffic on a friday out of the capital- ugly, ugly.
You could tell who had no AC and who wanted to show off their pumped up bod.
Home, I bought some composted manure, moo, went to my garden and fed the mosquitos as well as the plants.

Do we have an accountant on board here?
And a professional advocate to find out how one can get a civil servant administrator fired or severely punished
for incompetence, public health endangerment and a few civil service breaches.
I know it has been done without connections and crony vendetta assistance.

I love watermellon, but when I buy one of those little personal ones without the seeds and cut into it and it is either overripe or not ripe enough it makes
me so mad. I'll be all set to have some and then it turns out not to be a good one. I don't know how it pick out watermellons so that so you know
you are going to get a good one.
