Forgot to say, Ahhhhhh....Leafwatchers. What a fun, special memory. I attended 3 of them and met a lot of great board members.

Leafwatchers was where we met, and where I first met Jeanie as well.

It's over 90 here today and Dave's taken off for a sail with a couple of friends in from out of town. It'll probably be the one time our boat hits the water this year as Dave is in charge of the Club's sailboats and we can sail them any time. I'm tending to paperwork in my office that has a window A/C unit but I think I'm going over to the office and get some busy work done to prepare for the week coming up. I don't get paid for any of this stuff but do get a check after each of the properties I work on closes.

Dave looked at the lawn that needs mowing and mentioned that it doesn't mow itself and asked if my ice packs for the cooling vest were frozen. I HOPE he was joking.

I've had to dose Honey (my yellow lab assistant) with Benedryl every day as soon as it thunders as she is very frightened of storms. She will be 9 years old next month but still acts up like a puppy. She has been very easy to train but alas I haven't had the time to do much of that lately.

Does the Benedryl work well, Gabriella? My Lab mix is also terrified of storms. Valerian root doesn't seem to have much effect. Maybe I should give here 2 capsules? Anyone know?

If I expect a storm I put her in the crate before I go to bed. If she's not crated she'll jump up on the bed (not allowed!). She WILL NOT go in the crate at that point, and I will not force her. I cannot push her away when she needs me the most! Then I must stay up with her.

Do you give just one Benedryl?

Hi Chatters :)

I am stuck in one room and while I am grateful for it, it makes a long day. Saturdays, SO and I usually try to be out doing errands and having lunch so we will be out from 1-6 PM if possible. This week he has been in Kansas City. Hot there he says. I have been on my own.

He gets home this afternoon and I will enjoy going in an ac'd car to the ac'd WFoods. Then after dinner we will go over to his house for the night. (Did I ever 'splain that we have 2 houses around the corner from each other? We do.)

Gabriella, how did you get so unlucky as to have 3 auto-immune diseases? That's very rough.
I hope you get some answers re: your husband and that it is treatable.
Can you tell us about your service dog? Maybe a thread of it's own.

Funny I can do the exact same thing. I have a big lawn and I have automatic sprinklers the down side is it needs to be cut about every week.

Went to grandson birthday party yesterday. Daughter had a pool party I forget how much noise about 25, nine year old make! I told my daughter that she should come over and get one of the tractor irrigation pumps and drain the pool rather than clean it. My wife said that she didn't want to know what lurked in the water after the kids got out!

It is 72 deg at the moment and is only suppose to hit 92 today. I am keeping my fingers crossed. The county assessors office got me for claiming both homeowners exemption and disabled exemption as we have part of the farm rented out. Then in their infinite wisdom they also added a fine and graciously gave me 5 days to pay it all or they will order a sale for property tax. Is it illegal? Called the state AG office and no its not. Had to borrow a majority of it and with my credit lets just say that the legal interest they charge is more than the guy on the corner that would break your arm if you don't pay. I now know why I didn't vote for this new assessor.

I'll answer as many questions as I can. Honey has always been afraid of thunder since she was a puppy. The vet told me to give her 2 Benydryl and it does seem to quiet her down a bit but it takes about 20 minutes before it works. I've never thought of giving her Valerian. When she was younger I trained her to the crate also but as she got older she was able to destroy the latch on the crate doors and get out. She stays in our kitchen part of the time and I have an iron child gate up on the doorframe. If we are away which we were today...out to eat lunch....and it comes a thunderstorm....which it did middle of the day...we came back home to find she had knocked down the iron gate.

She didn't bother a thing and I had left a cup of coffee almost full on the end table. I was glad she didn't get into that as dogs are not supposed to drink coffee or eat chocolate. We had left all the bedroom doors open and she usually gets my shoes to bring to me but not today. When she was a pup she got into my coffee and it was evident that she really liked it. Then I found out that dogs shouldn't drink coffee. My dear husband went out on a Sunday afternoon 9 years and was gone for 2-3 hours and brought Honey home. I think he got her to cheer me up as I had just been diagnosed with MS. She was 8 weeks old. I have been able to teach her to sit in front of me when I need to get out of the recliner and I grab her collar and she will pull me up. She weighs about 95#'s now. She also will signal me when she needs to go out by going to door leading to the outside and putting her nose in the corner. My husband was taking her out for her walks but is not able to do that anymore so she has gained about 10-15 pounds.

My first auto-immune disease was Hashimoto's and then it was a domino effect. I understand from research that it is not uncommon to have more than one. The neuro is baffled at the moment as the symptoms overlap and nothing he has tried has helped. I am homebound and in the bed more than I am up. When I am up it is to go to eat or the doctor. I'm sure a lot of you here can relate.

How sweet that she helps you get out of the chair! Both my late Rottweilers would help me get up if I fell or was kneeling.
