After the storm, it was 73 here. I hope it cools things down like that for you. The air-conditioner has been off for a while, and I feel comfortable.

((((((Hugs to All)))))) ~
John visited today to help me with assorted things. One of those things was testing my front yard sprinklers, because my lawn is so brown and dry. They worked. But I may have to reprogram the automatic system. Unlike my neighbors, I am conserving water during the never-ending drought. California has had several wildfires over the past week, including near John's family cabin in the mountains.
He also checked Michael's pond, which is rife with algae. He decided that it must be drained and cleaned, or the algae will get worse. Then, he said, "And we have a heat wave coming, which will make it multiply." So, he will be here Saturday morning to drain, clean and refill the pond.
We have all lived long enough to know that this isn't how it used to be. We have a climate crisis now. Unfortunately, we are going to have to adapt somehow, because nothing beneficial is happening to reverse it. Earth Day Is Every Day.
Prayers, positive, healing energy for all ~ Be well. Stay safe.
Love & Light,
❤️❤️❤️❤️

Howie, this has been a busy day, so I am just getting on. It does appear that it has been over 24 hours since the last post. We had another storm tonight.
Rose, so glad John got by and took care of a few things for you. I know it is a relief when each little thing is done. I had a man come by this afternoon and give me a quote on power washing and staining my deck and power washing the walk way. I met him on Nextdoor Neighbor and I don't know much about him, but he was prompt and has worked in the general area. His price was in line and I just said okay. I get so tired of dealing with these things that I don't have anyone to call about. I am trying to take it one thing at the time because I have other things going on right now.
The heat during the day is sapping my ability to get everything done that I want to.
I haven't talked to Eric since last week. His wife got him to the Doctor Monday and the Doctor thinks it is his back. He gave him muscle relaxants. I have gotten word that they help for awhile and then he starts to hurt again. For anyone interested I will tell you how my SIL got him in to the Doctor's office. She called and called Monday and was unable to get a person on the line. She was getting one of the recordings that gave her different buttons to push and when she pushed the one for the appointments she kept getting just turned off. Finally, she hit the button that asked if it was a Physician's office. They answered right away. She just told them that was the only way to get them and she was going out of town Wednesday. She wanted something done for her husband before she left. I thought that was pretty gutsy of her, but it worked even if they didn't do much for him. I expect when she gets back Monday he will soon have an appointment for an MRI. I hope so. She is in Boston with Grayson who is playing in the US Open. Rose say a prayer for Grayson!Virginia

Grayson must be quite famous! I haven't ever followed golf and the only golfer I've heard of is Tiger Woods but it must take great skill and experience to be good enough to be in Grayson's league.
Wishing him luck, Virginia!SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

Grayson has had a rocky road due to suffering from anxiety and partly due to his earlier problems brought on by his own actions. He is trying and for that we are grateful. He has been fun for the family to be around during the last 18 months, very sweet to me. More important than his actual score today is how he handles the stress with the anxiety. That is just my opinion. Some others might say it is the score.Virginia

I have been praying for Grayson, although I haven't watched any of the U.S. Open. It just reminds me of Jim, and then I become nostalgic, etc.
People think that golf is an easy going sport. It isn't. It is fiercely competitive, with a hierarchy of "greats" to which they all aspire to become. There is a tremendous amount of corporate influence, as noted by what they wear or carry in their golf bag. They want all of the sponsors they can get. It is a money sport.
It's not a team sport. The golfers are on their own, without anyone to back them up, if they flub.
It is not unusual for athletes to have anxiety, fears that they aren't good enough, so worked up over a tournament or a finals that they can't escape the anxiety. They think of how they can do better, how they can be better, how they can win and wear the green jacket after the Masters, or hold the U.S. Open trophy. It is their entire life.
Phil Mickelson had a severe problem with gambling. Tiger's life hasn't been stellar at all. There is a lot of pressure on these golfers to win.
I think golf is addictive to some people. For example, today while cleaning the pond, John showed me the blister on one of his fingers. It was caused by: "I've been practicing golf too much recently." He missed his golf round with friends yesterday, because he went out with his wife and daughter. But, they will pick up the game on Monday.
A blister is nothing compared to a hip and a knee replacement, which one of my friends had and still insisted on playing golf as often as possible.
So, I am definitely praying for Grayson.
How is Eric now? Your SIL advocated for Eric, which is what we have to do sometimes to get the attention we or our loved ones need. Good for her! I do think that there should be further investigation into why Eric is experiencing this pain. I hope your SIL is able to make that happen.
Prayers for all of you!
Love & Light,

Rose, thanks for your prayers and some understanding of what my youngest nephew has been and is still going through. I understand John's blisters on his finger. Grayson has had a number of injuries due to golf. He has back problems even as young as he is. Many golfers have back problems. I always felt Grayson's started so young because he started playing at age 7. When he was about 10 to 12 he was attending a golfing school in Pinehurst, NC. He was standing behind a little boy, well within where he had been told to stand, and the little boy let go of his club on his back swing and the club hit Grayson in the mouth. He eventually lost a front tooth and has an implant. To this day they are trying to save the other front tooth.
The next day he went right back, not because it was expected of him but because he wanted to. Still it is better than football or hockey.
I am a little like Ikoiko, I set here today waiting to see Grayson. I saw him one time and I knew he wasn't among the top players and wouldn't be on again, but here I set. Eric finally sent me a text. I told him he needed an MRI and he agreed. The muscle relaxants work for a little while and then he starts to hurt again. I am hoping SIL will get that started for him when she gets back.
Agate, it does take some skill to even qualify for The US Open. Early on he had a lot of wins, but the last few years have been harder. I am hoping things will get better for him. He is trying so hard.Virginia

That was the only time my dad would take over the TV, when a golf tournament was on. No one would watch it for any amount of time, but we were all amused when you could walk through the room, and he would be sound asleep on the sofa. I would guess it was the way the announcer would talk. They would stop talking while a golfer was getting ready to make a stroke and would speak really quietly so they didn't disturb the golfer's concentration. It would lull anyone to sleep, even an avid golfer.

Years ago my son and I occasionally happened to be looking at a golf tournament on TV and we always thought it was hilarious the way the announcers were whispering. I'm afraid we just didn't understand how very important that little ball can be and how everything depends on hitting it in exactly the right way.
I mean, it's only a ball...
One person's enthusiasm isn't always the next person's. I recall my brother trotting out a set of golf clubs and proudly announcing, "See my new mashie!" while some members of his family sat around and just politely smiled because we had no idea why this was such a big deal for him.
That was a hundred years ago. I understand that the term "mashie" isn't used any more.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

John called me this morning, while he was watching the U.S. Open. I mentioned Grayson, and he recognized his name. At that point, Grayson had several hiccups. John genuinely felt Grayson's distress as a fellow golfer. When I told John that Grayson's girlfriend broke up with him just a couple of days before the tournament, John said what I said, "That was terrible timing!"
John pointed out that Grayson made the cut, which meant he played the second two days. At his age, that is very admirable. He also told me that golfers on Twitter were tweeting, "He is one of us!" So, there is a great amount of understanding among golfers about frustration and how difficult it is to shake it off and get back in your groove.
Grayson was in the same boat as many other gifted, successful golfers, who didn't win. He played all 4 rounds in the 2022 U.S. Open, which is a prestigious tournament. But, he did his best, and that is all any of us can do.
There is an old saying, "Golf is a good walk spoiled."
It requires concentration, focus, intent, skill, the ability to estimate distance, force, etc. The couple of times I played with Jim, I was exhausted after 9 holes. It wasn't fun for me to have to do all of those things at one time. Or, it wasn't relaxing. Jim and I always had fun.
I hope that Grayson will be able to move forward after this tournament. He may need to take a break and regroup. He needs all of your family's love and support.
Agate ~
Golf protocol requires complete silence, while a player is making a shot. Officials even hold up signs, which read: "Silence." Any distraction, noise, etc. could disturb the golfer's concentration. I think tennis is similar in that way. Spectators are quiet during the match, until a point is scored. If a player is in the midst of serving, and someone speaks loudly, that will be distracting and cost a point.
These days, I believe that mashies are now called 5 Irons. Golf clubs have a variety of irons, putters, drivers, etc. It's a big business! Expensive stuff.
Healing prayers, positive, healing energy to all ~ be well and stay safe!
Love & Light,
❤️❤️❤️❤️

He already wasn't playing well, but then today he hit the ball in some high stuff on the side. Rather than call a strike his caddy told him to play the ball out of the weeds and whatever it was. It cost him a bunch of strokes, and after that he was just kind of going through the motions. He is not coming directly back to Raleigh with his Mother. He is going to stay up that way and play again tomorrow. I think this is at a different course. I am not sure how many days.
Older son is with Eric today. He may have seen his daughter and her husband along with his Grandson, not sure about that.
Ikoiko, if you have a bf devoted to golf you will most likely spend a lot of Sundays sitting on the couch. I did for years. There is a different feel about it when you have a family member playing.
I went to the grocery store today. Couldn't get two items so I went to a second one. Got in quite a bit of walking, but I didn't mind. The weather was about 80 and very low humidity. A neighbor helped bring them in.
Hope everyone had a nice Father's Day.Virginia
