I want to thank whoever removed 14" of snow from the top, sides and front of my van today.

Before going outside I wept on the phone to my sister.
Once outside I was elated and grateful- then parked it in a safe place and took a bus home
so the city will hopefully remove all remaining snowy mountains tomorrow.

    It was my valentine.

I don't know why, but I don't use the thanks button much and I've kept mine all this time, while the rest of you have been complaining - guess I just must be really good, at least better than Howie.

Well, I am not going to have to be in as long as I thought. Sun came out real good today and everything melted so well that I will get out tomorrow. It is supposed to rain and then the wind is going to blow a lot tomorrow afternoon, but I am beginning to climb the walls, so I will try to get out to grocery store and drug store and any other place I can think to go.

I watched the movie "The Days of Wine and Roses" this afternoon. I had forgotten how good it was, but also how sad. I had also forgotten what a good actor Jack Lemmon was. He could act in such a range of movies and they were all good.

I don't go to bed until late - usually about 12 or 12:30, so now I have to find something to do.

      Everyone stay well.

Edited to add: Renee and I were posting at the same time and I did not see hers. Just so glad Renee that the snow was removed from your van without you having to do anything. There are some really nice people sometime. Enjoy your evening.

I don't know about the others, Virginia, but I hope I haven't been complaining. I did think it was an issue the people in charge needed to know about just in case it meant some bigger problem.

I had mixed feelings about the Thanks button at first but on a board that isn't as active as it used to be, I think it's useful. It's a bit creepy to post and come back days later and wonder if anyone even read your post because there's no sign that anyone has. Seeing that somebody has thanked me lets me know someone has at least looked at it.

But it's all good! We got along just fine here for many years without a Thanks button.

Virginia said, "I guess I just must be really good, at least better than Howie"?

          Like that's hard to do!

Someone removed the snow here too........ Oh wait it was the rain. We had about a foot of snow and about 3 feet where I had plowed it. There is a bit left from the plow spoil and MUD I am going to have to push some of the water off and move some gravel around. The ground is frozen and it is huge lakes. Major flood warnings all around us. But the water would have to get 25 ft to get to us. There are places that have not had flooding in the 20+ years I have lived here.

My renters could hardly get down the road to do the milking. So either I improve the mud mess or I am going to have to do the milking. I am going out to warm up one of the tractors.

:) Hi everyone. I woke up very tired so I went back to bed. Got up about one and ate and laid back down. A knock on the front door woke me about 5. The next door neighbor who used to give David a hard time wanted to borrow jumper cables.

On the way to the door I turned the corner too fast and went over on the floor on the right side against the coffee table. The beautiful flower arrangement went over and water went all over the table and the floor. I managed to upright the scooter and got my right foot up and used the scooter seat and handle bar to get up. I am so glad I have been doing exercises to keep my thigh muscles strong so I can get up.

The neighbor and three of her teenagers were at the door when I got it open. Her son came in and helped me mop up the water with towels. I had yelled to them that I was on the floor and I would open the door when I could get up. The coffee table looks like it has some water spots but I am hoping they dry and it looks ok. It was Mother's coffee table I brought home from Jacksonville.

I have a headache so I might have bumped my head. I am going to go a lot slower on the scoter after that. I'm glad to have my thanks button back.

Gary I am amazed at all you do. But you need to try to behave too. Jeanie :)

Jeanie, that's twice you've rushed to the door, in that evil scooter and fallen.
I am so glad you didn't hurt yourself too badly, but the next time you may.
Maybe a safer sturdier scooter would be better for you, now that you're an
old coot like me. I have almost killed myself on this little lite scooter of mine.
I try to keep it on turtle but it scootches up when I'm not looking..lol

                  Jeanie,
Sorry to hear about the fall. Sally is right, you may need a "seating assessment" for appropriate scooting.

                  Renee,
                  What a gift!

                  Gary,
We lost most of ours too with rains on Tuesday then another snow storm that dropped 6 " and turned to rain on Thursday. It's been snowing now since just after noon (was supposed to start at 2) and we already have 8 inches and it is not supposed to stop till 2AM. Just a degree or two under freezing but with high wind gusts.

Did some non-aggressive shoveling today but I somehow injured my left shoulder (I think in the pool doing exercises earlier in the week) so I couldn't be as much help as I wanted to be. This is a very slippery snow and there are very few vehicles on the road and those that are are being very cautious but do some fishtailing when starting up from the stop sign just down the street.

Oh...I've always had my Thanks button as far as I know.

:) Thanks Sally and Cherie. I think I will try Sally's idea and take the scooter off rabbit and put it closer to the turtle. Jeanie :)

Jeanie, glad you were not hurt, but Sally is right about slowing down. It could have turned out differently. Take care of yourself.

Regarding the Thanks button....If you have already used it on a post, it goes away. Could that be the problem some have had?

It is simply gorgeous here today. Blue skies with high wispy clouds and bright sunshine. We have about 9 or 10 inches of pure almost untouched snow all around us. The Birds are busily feeding on both feeders and the suet blocks.

I am able to use my left arm less and less. There is no bruising but the back side of the deltoid was tender to touch yesterday and today it is almost more tender at the point where it connects in the upper outer arm. Ibuprofen doesn't seem to make a dent in the discomfort nor does heat or ice or muscle rub but I can only lift about a pound and can't lift my arm over my head or even to shoulder height without pain. This will surely be tended to in the coming week. I suspect I have a small muscle tear from doing pull ups during Thursday's exercise session. Not planning on too much physical activity till this is looked at. (I tell you this not to complain but so you won't bug me about going to the Dr. It's on the agenda).

Well I would say that you know us all too well.

We had the scavenger hunt yesterday to tell the kids we were going to Disneyland. My daughter is an amazing mom. They had clues starting at their house when led to our house and several clues around the farm and in the motorhome which is in a huge RV garage on the farm. The look on the kids faces at the end was priceless. We had told the kids at Christmas the it was too expensive to go way down to Disneyland.

The only bump was granddaughters biological mother threw a fit because she was not informed first and didn't know if she would allow her to go as it was so far away. Daughter and SIL when on the front porch and made some phone calls. She gets to go but I have no idea what they said but my daughters face was red and one of those looks that someone was on her list.

It has warmed up and almost all the snow is gone. The sun is shining and one would think it was spring except snow is predicted for the end of the week. As it is still February I am sure that winter is not done with us yet.

I have to totally agree with Howie on this one. I guess God is just being gracious to all those who never get a chance to see this beauty with this winter! Have to put a positive spin on it for those who think it is difficult to deal with.
