I haven't had a garden in years and I'm soooo jealous. I don't know how you do it
With all you have been through in the recent past and can still have the strength and
will to manage a garden/farm. God must give Farmers extra strength of mind and body.

So happy for you, DH, doggy and Family..

Yeah, I used to do flowers, did sunflowers one year, but they take LOTS of water. I still have my one rose bush, and go out to prune it once in awhile. But I've gotten to the point mowing the grass is all the outdoor work I care to do.

I agree with Sally--that's pretty amazing, Peg! More power to you!

I can't say I have a flower garden since I live in complete shade but I have a few African violets growing under lights. Nothing else is blooming. A hosta out on the patio bloomed in June:

The other plants I have aren't big on blooming--a fern that's probably going out soon (fungus gnats or something), and what you see in the photo is Swedish ivy and coleus. I do coleus cuttings every year indoors and put them out there for spring/summer/fall.

I'm about to get a pothos to hang in a basket indoors. I have a few snake plants and a croton inside too, plus some succulent--I have no idea what it is but it keeps on going.

I have a large lot for the city. Front and back yard and a side yard. I have had to reduce what I plant and what I tend and increase what I hire out (leaves, mowing, cleaning out beds).

This year I have planted a new clematis and 2 dahlias. Yesterday, DH2B took us to a local farm w a garden center and I bought some mulch that puts nutrients back in the soil. That is sitting on my patio. It may still be sitting there next year.:)

I have a raised bed garden in a community garden- my third year.

As usual I planted late so the vegetables are coming in after my neighbors.

My usual low maintenance items that I like to eat include two varieties of tomatoes,
flat leaf parsley, basil. peas and mystery plant that has yielded purple broccoli!
Santee…is the non latin name. If there are no more broc heads the trump will come out
and I'll plant late leaf lettuce.

I like to take care of the plantings in front of my apt because my cheesy HUD landlords
don't but I have not been on it and sig ex is exhibiting his 'Let me help you, please'
with no follow through. This is his chronic condition so I just grab help when I can.
I have a four year old sugar maple hiding in the jungle- anyone interested.

I want to remove one of three holly bushes the dumb landlords planted 13 years ago
            and plant invasive daylilies.
            My gift to the neighborhood.
If i could walk a little I would have trained one of those bushes into a tree.
            Would have been nice.
Wheelchair life is wasted on me.

            Growing is good.
Must keep up on removing blighted leaves from veggies.
If I am a good gardener I am grandfathered into a raised bed next summer.

I love most of my fellow gardeners.
            Horticulture as therapy.

If I can post pictures of the purple broccoli. I will.

I've seen purple cauliflower--and something called broccoflower, but not purple broccoli. Does it taste just like ordinary broccoli?

I've heard that some people can taste colors. Purple cauliflower probably tastes funny. Maybe like red cabbage because it looks almost purple. Is there a purple taste?

Brought the beauty to little bro's house and in all the van chaos and
moving into a hotel with a harem, nooooo, kidding, I never got a sit down meal
                        with the exotic broc.

Will ask little bro/aka the Master Of Broccoli.

I've had purple cauliflower and it didn't taste colorful at all!

I only have my rose, strawberry and blueberry bushes this year. In the past I have grown grape tomatoes on my patio, but with this year's weird weather, I didn't get the option to plant tomatoes.

There appears to be something like a pumpkin plant, sending out flowers, but no pumpkins in the landscaping. I'm guessing that the resident squirrel planted it. It's usually trying to plant peanuts in with one of my rose bushes. Silly squirrel, peanuts don't grow up here.
