My fellow community gardeners held an afternoon eat and chat.
I arrived late after work and they bestowed piles of wonderful healthy
food while packing up. I still feel guacamole-bloat.
Apparently the purple broc was a hit.
People who garden are very fine by me.
My tomato plants still give me fruit, lots of non-firey peppers are
turning red on the plants. No luck with the french fries.
I chopped down the broccoli tree this afternoon and I have sooooo
much flat leaf parsley to play with. The basil is still leafing and nasturtiums
are happy and flowering. Love their tasty flowers and smaller leaves for salad.
Must get some mixed greens seed in the ground for cool weather planting.
I think these community beds are going to be plagued by an annual fungal blight that
likes tomato and squash/cuke leaves.
How I do love my dirt.
It would be so nice to move south for 3-4 months every winter.
Always looking for an angle on how to accomplish that one… :>)
I have cherry, pear and purple tomatoes yeah I hate 'em but everyone else loves 'em so every year....... I did goof up with radishes beets and taters I though that some really good compost would be a good idea. It was, except I got a little heavy and with so much nitrogen all the tubers (underground stuff) bolted (went to seed) and the sugar peas literally grew themselves to death.
But if anyone needs zucchini just stop by I am getting sick of it. We have about 20 loaves of zucchini bread in the
freezer.
