Ah - some late nighters like me. Went to the store today and bought $123.00 worth of groceries, but didn't get all that much to eat. I did get a very small fresh made vegetable pizza. It tasted real good for supper. I had not had a slice of pizza in probably 3 years or more. I got fresh clam chowder soup for the week-end, some vegetables that I can cut up and munch on or eat with a dip. I got a really good looking salad, which I had planned to eat with my pizza tonight, but then as soon as I got home I had a call from a neighbor wanting a recipe. It took me an hour and a half to find it, and then I had to phone and let her write it down.

As soon as we hung up another neighbor came. Anyway, I didn't get around to eating until between 9:30 and 10:00. That is not good.

I am going to look for the Compleats , and you all have given me a few more ideas. Wish I could get back in a cooking mode. I found some of the best recipes tonight while searching for the one my neighbor wanted. But work just turns me off right now. Anyone ever hear of scuppernongs? Howie, you should since you are from the South. I bought a bunch of those today, but gave half to my neighbor. I got some raspberries, blueberries, bananas, a green bell pepper, celery and cucumber to slice and snack on.

I see some of you have already been partying tonight. Looks like Agate has been having a good time.

            Behave everyone!

Have I ever heard of Scuppernongs? Heck, I can't even pronounce it. Let us know how they are.

You just missed Agate. She was dancing around and singing with a lampshade on her head just a minute ago.

And now that everyone has gone to sleep, let me tell you the up and down day I had.

I gave the place a much needed vacuuming. This is also into a few days of no beer, but it just made me want to continue that trend, and save the money. I mostly drink out of boredom.

Then my brother called, and we talked FOUR HOURS. That was really too much for me. I love talking to him, but I am forced to hold the phone to only ear because the hearing in the other is so distorted by the MS. It gets painful after a while not being able to switch ears.

When that finally ended, I worked on a problem I had with my email, doing something my brother told me, and it fixed the problem which has gone on several weeks. I even gave out a loud ALRIGHT, and both cats did their happy dance.

So now, I'm wide awake, drinking sugarless lemonade, and may stay up real late. I may even make some coffee, and really live on the edge.

Scuppernongs must have been the type of grape my family grew but there were never very many grapes on the vines. The only way to eat them was the way described here:

Virginia, you're right. I've been partying by raiding the emoticons here. Even found some beer for Howie:

And a cheeseburger to go with it:

And something for the dog though I don't think he has a dog:

                  OK, something for the cats:

Yeah, no dog, but your thoughtfulness makes me want to get one.

                      Now I am hungry.

Thanks Agate for all the information on scuppernongs. I didn't know they just grew in N.C. But then we are kind of special. That is the way you eat them. I would never eat the hull. These turned out to be sweet and I am enjoying them.

Renee, glad you have a good friend and a dear bro to pull you out of those times we have. I very seldom turn to mine. Unfortunately, (or maybe fortunately) they haven't the slightest idea what MS can be like, or what I mean about staying in for 6 days at a time because I am too fatigued to get all dressed up to get out. I realize in your case they can see the results and I would not change places, however there are things about me they can see also but they just all tell me it is part of getting older. Since my friends are my age and they are able to take trips and go on vacations and I am not, I have a hard time hearing that. I try to just grin and bear it. Sorry, didn't mean to whine when responding to your post. Glad you are feeling better. This past week was kind of one of those weeks for me to, but doing better today.

Agate, I came on not long after your party last night. It was so quite it was a strange feeling and then Howie came up right behind me and scared me to death. We were the only two dumb enough to be up that late, however it sounds like he really made more of a night of it than I did. By the way, Howie I didn't have my usual glass of wine before dinner last night because it was so late when I ate.

Love all the food Agate prepared for Howie. Why do we all pet him so much? Renee, since I seem to recall that at least one of his cats is something of a tiger I am not sure that even a Chihuahua would be able to survive. Though I do think it would be fun for him to try. Howie I mean, maybe not so much for the Chihuahua!

I bought raspberries yesterday and they are expenses. Well, this morning I was going to have some for breakfast and they were molding down in the tiny little carton that I paid $4.50 plus tax for. I ate six and through the rest away. If I was healthy I would have driven back to the store today and showed them. I bought them at Harris Teeter, but it doesn't seem to matter anymore where I shop. I have gotten stuff at Whole Foods that has not turned out to be any good. Anyone ever bought any frozen strawberries? I eat frozen blueberries in the winter when I cannot get fresh, but have not tried the strawberries. Guess I should.

Virginia, I haven't had frozen strawberries in a long time, but the ones I used to get were great on things like cereal, or the little shortcakes with a little whipped cream. All after you thaw them of course. Hey, I'm getting hungry.

I buy frozen strawberries all the time and use them in my smoothies or coconut/almond milkshakes. I find the strawberries are consistently better than the frozen blueberries that I buy, they are plumper and very ripe and very red. I find the frozen blueberries are often very small and pale and lacking of flavor. Strawberries are super good for us too, so I'm glad I can keep a bag in the freezer and just take what I need. I've never tried to thaw them and eat them, so not sure how that works out.
