Yeah, someone tell us how to post pictures here, and I'd be glad to share pics of my furkids! bestshot.jpg Cassie is the calico (with white patches, brown, grey) and Cindy is the momma cat, a tortoiseshell (or so I'm told) Cassie 004.jpg Cassie at rest ... IMG_0035.jpg Tuffy, I think (is this the black cats?) IMG_1510.jpg TabbyGrey helping me construct one of my dollhouses.

Oh, wait, I think I might just have figured it out! Anyway, my two girls are Cindy, and her kitten Cassie. Before we adopted her, Cindy was thrown into a bonfire and badly burned. She was pregnant at the time, and gave birth to 5 kittens, only one of which survived. When we went to a local shelter to adopt a cat, Cindy was there in the same cage with Cassie. We couldn't leave one without the other, so took both! Cindy is 16 years old this year, Cassie 1-1/2 years younger. Tuffy, a large black tom, just showed up at the door one day, about 4 months after we got the girls. So he's about 14. TabbyGrey, the striped tabby cat, is about 13. So all "senior citizens", although Cassie will always be the baby! :)

Tuffy we call our "quarter cat". We hadn't intended on taking him in, and were feeding him on the porch. But he was hanging out on the porch one day when some grand-nieces and nephews came to visit. He was playing with them, in/out of their laps, purring and otherwise being the gentleman that he is. But we thought perhaps we should consider getting rabies shots for him, just in case he should bite someone, or someone accused him of biting them. So we make a vet appointment. The very next day he showed up with an ugly abcess on his chest. We started treating it, unsuccessfully, and decided that we'd just get him to the vet, get the rabies shot, get the abcess taken care of. We also decided to have him neutered.

On the way to the vet I jokingly said to my husband, "Well, if this vet visit costs us more than $100 I'm keeping this cat! No way am I gonna spend $100 on a stray, and not call him mine!!!". So we get the cat to the vet, who looks him over, says he can fix the abcess, give the rabies shot, do the neutering...."oh, by the way, he has worms; probably want to treat that. Pick him up tomorrow.." So tomorrow comes, we go to the vet, he hands over the cat and the bill: $100.25

So Tuffy came in. About a year later, TabbyGrey shows up in the yard (we have 15 acres of "yard"). He starts hanging around the porch. No More Cats! everyone exclaims. But my cleaning lady says, "hey, if you can get him tamed, I'll take him.". Then we come to find out that her last 3 cats were "indoor/outdoor" cats..and got killed by traffic in front of her house. So no, not a good home. So we discouraged that..... Then one day we actually were on the porch, petting TabbyGrey, when a fox shows up, tries to steal his food, then chases him away! Foxes can kill cats. We assumed he was done in. Two days later TabbyGrey shows up, alive and well...and was invited in.

            So that's my family....

Sorry for all the duplicate posts.....And I see I got the picts of Tuffy and TabbyGrey reversed. Tuffy is the black cat. He is big -- tall, long body. Looked really tough when he was "in the wild", in the yard, stalking birds (never actually caught any that we saw). Tuffy is a marshmallow, though. Soft, good natured, a gentleman kitty. Will defer to the others and come back later, rather than squabble over the food dishes. He's "momma's boy", and got really depressed when I was gone for so long. He sleeps with me all night, stretched out along my side. TabbyGrey is the mischief maker. Gets into everything, gets on the kitchen counters, tries to poke his nose into your dinner plate. Cassie is the one that was so sick last December; we thought we were going to lose her. She recovered, and is doing well.

Cats do often have a way of finding cat-people who will give them a home. Sounds as if a few of them found you. Very lucky cats or maybe very smart about knowing where their bread is buttered.

I particularly liked the cat in the dollhouse!

Thanks so much for letting us see the cats in charge of your household.

Photos are hard to explain because everyone's computer is different and everyone's way of storing photos is different but I've found that Photobucket is a good place to put photos and other images that I might want to use online because they have several ways of linking to pages like this one. I generally use the "direct link."

Trial and error is often the only way to get it, I'm afraid. But if anyone wants to send me a PM with questions, I'd be happy to do what I can.

I found a button right along the top of this reply box, I think it's the third from the right. You click on that (insert image)and a box drops down; then go to your hard drive, find your photo.file, find the picture you want to post, and click on that. The title of the photo will appear in the drop down box. Then you click on upload, and they'll appear here! Pretty easy. I got tangled up because I tried to post all the pics without captions, then go back and add captions, but I ended up with four posts instead of just the one. Anyways I'm.Pretty computer illiterate, but found it was easy.

:)My son Andy has four feral cats. He had them all spayed and shots. They do not like to go in the apartment but show up at 6 AM and 6 PM for dinners. Andy can pet them but they won't go near anyone else.

When Andy came today to put out my trash and recycle he gave Lacy a bath. She growls and barks the whole time. She is still scratching herself. I took her to the dermatology vet and it was almost $500. and we have given her all the pills for over a month and the ointment and the expensive shampoo baths.

I see no point in going back as she is no better and I'm still giving her two pills daily. I keep a shirt and her Thunder shirt on her so she can't scratch where those are. She likes the shirts.

I enjoyed all your kitty photos and their stories. It is 80 here tonight. I hope your snow disappears quickly and Spring comes. Jeanie :)

Jeanie, a few questions about your pup if you don't mind :)

                          Breed? Age?
Do you treat for fleas? If so, with what?
What food is she eating? For how long?
                          What treats does she get?
Is there anything new in the house (carpet, furniture, detergent, drapes, etc etc)?

We deal with a lot of itchy cats and dogs at work and can usually figure out why and how to fix it
Question: Why can't I post links or pictures?
Question: Why can't I have a signature, avatar, or profile picture?
Question: What's wrong with my account?

Answer: You are in the "registered users" user group. This group is very limited in what it can do. This will annoy spammers to no end Just keep posting once you have been registered for 30 days and have made 11 posts your account will be "unlocked".

It's really easy to put someone on ignore and it's strongly recommended that you do so with people who's posts you don't like.

                          Step 1 - log in
Step 2 - click on the "settings" link
Step 3 - click on the "edit ignore list" link on the left side of the screen
Step 4 - type (or paste if you copied and pasted it) the username of the person you want to ignore
Step 5 - click the "ok" button on the right of the screen

Easy peasy and will lower your blood pressure. One important note though, this won't hide quoted posts. It's an oversight on the developers part and it's not an easy thing to "fix." So if someone quotes someone you have ignored, you'll see the quote.

Alternatively when you click on a person's name and view their profile page, underneath their avatar, there is a option that says, "Ignore this person". Click that link and then click the yes button.

:) Hi Mike. Lacy gets the drops on her neck to prevent fleas from reproducing and heartworm prevention. I give her Purina Moist & Meaty food. Also she likes cheese so that is how I get her pills down her. For treats I buy the Cesar brand Softies in Steak flavor and Chicken flavor. Usually give her 3 in the morning and 3 at night, or as a reward for her bath.

She is an 8 year old Chihuahua and has been spayed and microchipped. She mostly stays in the house but we do have a fenced back yard with doggie doors so she can go out when she needs to. I also keep Pee pads down in the room as she is hesitant to go out after dark and occasionally she will go there.

She will play a little with your finger if she tries to catch it when you put it behind the pillow. Jeanie :)

I'm going to give you a link regarding her food. If you have questions about the information on that page feel free to ask. I don't know everything about dog food, but I've learned quite a bit. Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register...

With regards to the treats, does Lacy like crunchy or chewie treats?

How much money are you looking to spend per month on her food and treats? You can pm me that answer if you want.
