Virginia, can you just tell your book group that you need some help and spell out what that would be? I'm sure the group wants to keep you. Wouldn't you help and do what you could for someone else?

If they seemed put out by that or just said they couldn't manage it, then it might be time to quit the group. I know if it was me and my group said that to me then it would be much easier to quit the group as I would see that they were not very invested in me to start with.

But they might surprise you! People are so wrapped up in their own lives they often do not see the needs of other people even when it's staring them right in the face. But if you were to verbalize it directly, they might surprise you and come up with some good plans to help you stay in the group.

In any case, I am sorry you're going through this. It sounds discouraging and lonely.

I agree. After all, they know you and will hate to lose a member of their group who is established there. If they don't feel that way, something is wrong with them, IMO.

Maybe instead of bringing food you could contribute to a fund they might have for special occasions. Do they occasionally have parties, and is there a fund for those?

I'm thinking of potlucks I've known where that was done when some people couldn't bring food. Or they'd pay for the beverages.

:) Hi Agate that is unusual for 12 hours to go by with no posts. I hope everyone is ok.

Yesterday that cleaning lady who is a friend of Jamie's cousin came. Boy was she thorough. She did every inch of my house except for the computer room, David's room and the utility room. She even went out front and broomed all the spider webs and window sills, etc.

She charges $20 an hour for those on a fixed income. When I asked what I owed her she said $40. and I was so happy with her cleaning I gave her 50. She even moved furniture and wiped the baseboards.

Tomorrow I have a long dental appointment. Friday Andy is coming and we will go to the state fair. Today I stayed in bed until after noon to save energy for tomorrow and Friday.

Good news for me. Husband bought Boston Symphony Orchestra tickets for Friday afternoon. Shucks, I'll miss some of the inauguration festivities.

The program features Gidon Kremer, a Latvian violinist that I adore.

Poor Rose, one MORE thing piled on her plate. It's not fair. I would say I'm praying for her, but I stopped praying. But I'll hope for things to ease up on her, and hope for her and her family the very best.

:) Rose you and your hubby and family will continue to be in my prayers. It is said that God does ntot give us more than we can bare, but sometimes that does not seem so.
