OT June Chit Chat

I'm happy with online banking, and I pay most of my bills through its online billpay.

I have found out how easy it is to make a mistake with that though. A couple of times I've thought I paid one payee, and actually paid another one, just because one of my entries slipped into another spot on the screen and I didn't notice it. Or more likely my hand slipped on the keyboard.

So now I check and double-check to make sure the payees are getting the correct amounts.

If a person, such as Howie, takes it slow and easy at first, it should be fairly easy to avoid problems.

I'm on Auto Pay for all but 2 bills. I write 2 checks, and mail them payday. I will still do them that way.

But Comcast has been playing tricks on me and not deducting their auto pay until a 3 month bill piles up, and THEN they tell me about it. So I pay, and then I'm broke when I thought I was ahead.

So now, I can check who has deducted, and when, and banking will be easy again. I think I can drop Comcast now, and have already found who I will go with, and it's half what I pay Comcast now. For the computer only.

The bigger they are, the more you need to keep an eye on them. I thought it was the other way around. Modern life sucks, excuse my French.

ONE company I deal with is top notch. Consumer Cellular.

That's what I hate about any autopay arrangement. The company you're paying can just reach into your account and help themselves to your money, and you might not even know about it until later.

I avoid autopay whenever I can. I've taken incentives to go paperless sometimes, but they couldn't pay me enough to switch to autopay.

I do get a printed out paper each month, telling me who was paid what, and when. But I've been not really paying attention, mostly looking to see if I have anything left, and make sure I've not over-drafted. Between the online banking, and the account paper, I should be better able to manage my pennies....I hope.

A movie surprise. I watched a movie I THOUGHT was called Roadhouse with Patrick what's his name, but I finally saw it was called Roadhouse 66, big difference, and not a bad movie.

But now the other Roadhouse I don't want to see is on, so time for a channel change. CLICK!

Howie, I think it will be easier to keep up with your money and exactly what you have all the time. You just have to remember what is coming up during the rest of the month that you have to pay and make sure you leave enough money in bank to pay those things.

I haven't had the problem Agate had with paying the wrong vendor. After I put in who I am paying, it then comes up and ask me to confirm it and shows it in a different form. So easy - well even I can do it so that tells you something!


Went to meditation last night and enjoyed it. I was especially glad that I went because a man in our group was diagnosed with cancer back in January or February. He was there. It was good to see him. I don't know what the outlook is. He is the face of cancer, but while he has lost quite a lot of weight, it was not as much as I thought it would be. Still I would not have recognized him had I seen him in another setting. I hugged him when he came in and later I had a moment alone where he told me he would not know until August whether they were going to give him any radiation or if he would get more chemo.

I wish him luck. Cancer kills far too many good people like my dad. A cure for cancer would be the discovery of the Millennium.

Anyone else have a hard time deciding what to eat in the summer. It is not that I don't get hungry, it is that I just don't like the same kind of foods. I use to do really well when I could go to the Farmer's Market, but the grocery stores do not have the same good tomatoes and other things that the Farmer's Market has. I bought a tomato a few days ago that was supposedly locally grown, but it is just not good.

I like sandwiches a lot in the summer, but not in the winter. However, I need to be able to get to the Farmer's Market to get the things that I like on the sandwiches and also to get some really good vegetables.

Virginia, it seems the store bought tomatoes don't have any flavor. They may look good, but they need to ripen on the vine. And the ones at the store that claim vine ripened, and are still on parts of the vine, are so small.

Laz can tell us about tomatoes. I wonder if she is okay?

Perhaps your meditation friend might consider taking CBD oil. We know that it is helping Jim in many ways. And BBS is experiencing relief with CBD oil.

Jim's Orgain shakes are definitely helping him with the assorted vitamins and minerals needed to fight cancer. (We've researched nutrition and supplements to guarantee that Jim is getting everything recommended to battle cancer.)

I hope that he will continue meditation, because that is another important element in healing.

Thanks Rose, I had wondered about that. However, I have not been alone with him long enough to get any real answers and it is a case where I feel somewhat awkward asking too much. He is highly educated, as are his two children, and though grown, they have been very much in his life since he was diagnosed.

I know that he will continue meditation for as long as he can. Hopefully he will be back in July and possibly I will get to talk to him a little more. His cancer was inoperable and in a very bad spot from what I could make out of what was said when we were told.

It is another holiday and I will be here by myself again. My brother still has shingles. He is supposed to be having a light case, but now he doesn't feel like he is. He asked us all to go out Sunday, but I told him younger brother and I discussed it over this past week-end and we decided I needed to wait another week before being around him.

He and his wife are going to their condo at the beach Tuesday and will be back next week-end. He said maybe we could go that week-end. He talks like he has really been hurting. He saw his Doctor again and the Doctor said he thought the rash was beginning to dry up and that he might still have pain for 3 to 6 months after it does. Can you imagine what he might have been like if he had not had the shot. Of course we are not supposed to have it with MS, so I haven't.

Virginia, if you're talking about the Zostavax shingles vaccine, I've had it and according to the MS Society it's probably OK to get it since you've probably already had chicken pox:

It is ok.....and my neurologist recommends....that people with MS get the shingles shot.

Once the rash is at the drying up stage, the patient is no longer contagious.

I had shingles three years ago. I still have itching and pain where the initial rash occurred. Doctor tells me that now will always be there...
