The weather was just right and I took a walk outside, not just around the parking lot but down the hill and off into the wild blue yonder, up and down a few streets.

Well I'm just a slug today. I've been in the bed, under the covers, and just thinking away, but never going to sleep. It's restful anyway.
I'll eat in a little bit, and maybe that will recharge me. I only had one mug of coffee today, but have another one in the pot, but am out of milk, and almost out of sugar. I'm not a fan of just black coffee, but can drink it.
And any chance of an early payday, say Friday? If not, let me down gently, tears don't go well in black coffee.

Wonderful Agate! One day when I went out to a furniture store and walked over two grocery stores I only had 2080 steps. The next day I could hardly move and I decided my pedometer was not working right so I just gave up. There was no way I didn't walk more than that. You did really well. I am glad the weather was cooperative and I guess the humidity was just right. It helps so much.Virginia

It does sound as if there should have been more steps. Have you tried counting your steps and comparing your count with the pedometer's count? If you know how far off it is, you could just add that amount to every day's total, assuming that it's always wrong by the same amount each time. You'd need to check it on several days maybe.Originally posted by Virginia View PostWonderful Agate! Howie, the Social Security Website says that the payment will be on July 3. Sorry! I went there thinking that on account of the July 4 holiday on Tuesday, maybe the payment would be early, but no. Not so far anyway. Sometimes they do last-minute changes apparently.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

I did drive 25 minutes each way for DDS. That's the most am able to drive. Felt good about that.

Stair climbing is said to be great exercise. When I was having PT, one of the exercises we did when I was at their facility was going up and down stairs--at a variety of stair heights.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

I just came in from a 30" walk around the neighborhood adding books to 2 free book boxes.
Two good things: walking and recycling books.
My anterior thighs are killing me from that walk!

Does 30" mean 30 minutes or 30 blocks???? Whatever, Ann if you are sore sounds like you did quite a lot.
Agate, I do think that I will try to time my pedometer, but I get the feeling that it is differing with different slacks that I am wearing, so that is the reason I have not tried to do it.
BBS, you are going to get better with the additional IVIG. It just takes time. I know you are excited about trip to beach. I hope you have a good time.Virginia

Howie, maybe I can translate for you.Originally posted by Howie View PostAnn, I had no idea you spoke Chinese, I have no idea what you were talking about.
I'm pretty sure ANN is saying she took a 30-minute walk around the neighborhood, and while doing that she brought some books for a couple of used-book boxes, which her neighborhood must have.
I'm not sure what they are either. Maybe she'll let us know, but maybe they're drop-off boxes where people can deposit books they no longer want and others can come along and browse through them?
A bit like the free table or swap table that this building has once a month, where people put things they no longer want for others to get if they want them? One rule is that if the things aren't taken by the end of the free-table period (1 day but really more like 3 days because the day is always on a Friday and somehow gets extended through the weekend), they will be discarded unless the original owner comes along to reclaim them.Last edited by agate; 06-29-2017, 06:52 AM.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Yes, Agate, it was 30 minites. Our area isn't laid out in blocks.
And the book boxes: they are on the idea of "Littlest Libraries." One was made according to those plans and registered and
the others were freelanced (? word). Those two are bigger and more useful.

Now I understand. See, to me, 30" is 30 inches. And I had no clue what a book box was, but now I do. Now, can someone answer a question I have had all my life....Where do babies come from?

ANN, now that you mention it, I had heard of those little lending libraries but never knew exactly how they worked. There isn't one I could get to but I'll check the map from time to time. There might be one springing up somewhere soon. I hope so.
It sounds like a really great idea, and the little boxes shown on the Website look attractive enough (to me) not to be considered a neighborhood eyesore.
Some neighborhoods might object to it as a nuisance--attracting loiterers, maybe even vandals?
There'd be a danger that some mean-spirited people would leave trash or rotten eggs in the boxes but that's a danger with outdoor mailboxes and birdhouses too of course.
Encouraging people to read is always good, seems to me.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.
