Howie, sorry to hear that the little tree is going but glad that it wasn't you.

So glad there are cooperative people nearby.

Your continuing residence there is surely valued.

I've noticed often that if you stay in a place for at least a few years and don't make trouble and pay your rent on time, the powers-that-be really value you and want to keep you happy.

The tree sounds as if it's fairly well established. Could it be moved to another location where you could still enjoy looking at it?

Maple trees turn beautiful colors in the fall and are nice for shade. They do send out baby trees all over everywhere, and so maybe if you have to sacrifice this one, another baby tree will be available in your yard soon and won't be in danger of clogging any lines.

It's great if there will be someone to mow the grass regularly!

My no sleep last night, and my great relief from it being payday, caught up with me, and I napped for hours. I just got up awhile ago, and fixed me a meal. I had just enough time when I got back from the store, and started my nap, to make coleslaw.

Even with the nap, I feel an early bedtime coming on.

I kind of suspicion that if Howie is like me, he is so glad to get something done that needs taking care of, that he probably doesn't ask for extras like replanting the tree. That would be really nice if he has the nerve to ask. I usually just get what needs to be done and let anything else go.

I MAY walk out and take a look at that tree, and see what kind of roots it has, and if I think I can move it. If so, I may move it inside and put it in a pan of water until my sister can get it and plant it on her farm, or put it in a big pot, and grow it on my deck. The roots wouldn't be clogging any sewer lines then, would it?

See, I'm still thinking like I could do something like that. I doubt I could even carry an empty pot these days, much less one with a tree in it. But it's a nice fantasy!

If your sister plants it on her farm, that sounds more practical than putting it in a pot on your deck. You'd have one more thing to take care of, and it would keep growing. Do you really want such a tall thing on your deck? It might even tip over in a wind and fall onto your home.

I had a rather large rose on my balcony years ago. It wasn't in any danger of growing too tall but the pot was so heavy that it took two people to move it. I had it on wheels but when I decided to give it away so it could be in a sunnier location, I recall that the helper brought a friend of hers to help her move it.

You could have your pot on wheels too but there are times when you might need to lift it. Not easy if it's a tree.

And anyway you might not want to have to fish Sam out of the top of it.

I let her out after I went to the store, but she didn't stay out long. It was a beautiful day, and I do want to work on Pinky. Yet here I am still awake at 1:30. Doh!!!

So, I'm "home alone" this week. TC has gone off camping. I put "home alone" in quotes, as I have a nurse coming in every morning and every evening to help me in/out of bed. And a neighbor coming mid day with my mail, and to check to see if I need anything. And my cleaning lady is coming on Saturday to clean. And see if I need anything.

TC left this morning, won't be back until Monday. Peace and quiet reigns! or is that rains.... whatever... :)

That seems like a safe plan, Cat.

I had the cardic echo yesterday. It took longer than expected. I was worried. Then the phone rang at 8:10 AM and it was the PA. She said it was normal and my aorta, too. Good news. Of course I have to find out if they mean my usual mitral valve prolapse or if it magically went away. I'll accept either.

So what's the deal with Tom Petty? Alive or not? We did a Petty song when I was in a band. I liked him and his music. I hope he's still here.

Inquiring minds want to know more about this band. And what Petty song was it?

Unfortunately, he did die on Oct. 2nd. Full cardiac arrest.

He was a very talented individual.

That was so long ago! I was in a rock band we called ourselves Jinx. My brother had a band with two other guys he had known since a kid. And then along comes ol' Howie to fill the missing singer spot, and the rest is history.

Listen to Her Heart was the Petty song we did. And some Aerosmith, Zeppelin, just rock songs. It was fun, but required lots of practice.

I slept until after 1:00, and am having my glorious coffee right now. I have some stuff coming from Amazon tomorrow.

                              Have a great day everyone!

Sounds as if you were the lead vocalist?

Anyone who can get up in front of a group and sing alone is doing something I'd never want to do. It was bad enough being in choruses and choirs, and each time I could only hope that there'd be at least one other alto present so I wouldn't have to carry that part alone.

So the song was "Listen to Her Heart"? Must be a song for doctors...
