Now that would scare me!!! Vicky, you might make Agate decide to stop using her computer.

I have had two microwaves, one that set on the counter that I had in my house. It was bought a number of years before my husband died which was in 1987. It was an Amana and back then they actually put on a cooking school when you bought one. I went, but don't remember anything they taught. My second one is the one I have now and is an over the stove Space Maker which I had put in when I moved here in 1993. I love it and if it goes I want another Space Maker. Mine is well used.

I sure do not want any fires. That would really scare me to death (plus bring on a bad MS attack). However, I am not afraid of the microwave. I certainly hope those are not famous last words. My dinner tonight is going to be a microwave dinner.

HELP WITH PRINTER PROBLEM:

Mine is just shooting out blank paper and I cannot print anything. I have turned it off numerous times, but cannot get it to work. It is a inkjet printer - Hewlett Packard! Any suggestions?

Lenny said disconnect the computer from the printer, unplug the printer from the power, wait 30 seconds, plug printer back in, then turn it back on and see if that does it.

You can also search for your particular model (so have the model number handy), perhaps find a manual with troubleshooting tips.

I've called HP a few times for technical support, and they've always been very nice and helpful.

Thanks Vicky, that was not my problem. As all of you know I have no technical knowledge of anything. However, I did finally find that there was a paper jam. It was so bad I could not pull the paper through the front. I tried to take the printer apart with a screw driver, but that was hopeless. I couldn't get the screws to even turn a little bit. Finally, I found a way to get in the back of the printer and there was far more of a paper jam than I thought. I bet there were 20 pieces of paper rolled up. I had a hard time getting them out, but finally did. Why it happened I do not know. Anyway printer is working and I am proud of myself, but kind of holding my breath. This is an old printer, but has been an excellent one and I love the way it works so I don't want to get another one. It is a color printer and I have enjoyed that. One that would be equal would be expensive. Another reason I would hate to see this one go.

Glad that little ordeal is over with for now. I thought of Agate who has fixed a lot of her things and I kept telling myself to have more patience, but I just don't have any patience when it comes to anything mechanical.

Virginia, congratulations on fixing that very annoying problem! I've had those paper jams--all too often with an earlier printer. I have a laser printer now and maybe that's the reason or maybe I'm trying desperately hard to avoid paper jams nowadays--anyway I haven't had bad ones in a while. Really really annoying, particularly when you want to use the printer that day and not spend the day tinkering with it.

The printers I've had have always had a fairly substantial manual but it did have to be downloaded or viewed online. It could be something simple.

Not to worry. I don't have a laptop. It was a lithium battery in the laptop that might have caused the problem. The story has some good advice about laptops. I didn't know that if you drop a lithium battery, you can puncture it.

I was going to suggest a paper jam, but I figured you'd already ruled that out. Glad you got it unjammed. This happened to our printer recently, when (bizarrely) an insurance quote for our neighbors was faxed through our printer. We have no idea how that happened in the middle of the night!

We have an HP OfficeJet Pro 6798, which is an All In One machine. They cost about $100:

Niece and sister's husband have taken the "littles" to the town recreation area to do some sledding. David is out shoveling out our car while planning to move it to an area already plowed. We have already gotten over a foot of new snow here in NH today and it is coming down at the rate of 1-2"/hour. Supposed to be lovely tomorrow for when we have to head back home. Sister and her extended family will stay till Friday. I cannot tell you just how lovely all of this is looking here.

The a/c wasn’t working right. Luckily I had a warm shirt on for the first time ever, because it had always been so freezing there!

Sunshine, guess you might could say you now have suffered being hot in Florida. I hope the infusion gives you much good results, like energy and all good things.

Well, went out to dinner this evening with 2 brothers and their wives. One brother seemed to be himself, but not other brother. He was kind of curt and brisk and his wife was lukewarm.

My Nephew was playing at Pebble Beach, California this week. He did really well. I think he tied for 8th place which is very, very good for that golf course and his game right now. He has been playing every week-end, but not doing too well. They play 4 different courses there. I knew that yesterday afternoon he played in about 30 to 35 mile per hour winds, which is very hard for him. I was very happy for him. He is coming home tomorrow for 1 week and then off to Florida for awhile. He has not been home since the end of December. I know he will be happy to see his house again.

The brother that was not very nice to me tonight asked if I knew who Clay Walker was and I knew I knew the name, but I could not remember why at first. He is the country singer who was diagnosed with MS. He won something out in California and my brother told me in a tone of voice that made me feel like I should be doing what this guy is doing. If I had been thinking I would have reminded him that at Clay Walker's age I was still walking in 3" heels, working every day and keeping up a house and taking care of a husband.

Clay Walker was diagnosed 20 years ago and says the Doctor told him he would be in a wheel chair in 4 years and dead in 8 years. I suppose all this is true, but I certainly never heard anything remotely like that having been diagnosed about the same time. Also, some of you have been diagnosed much longer, but I don't remember you saying anything like that. I can't imagine a Doctor saying something like that to a young man with MS. Twenty years ago they had at least 3 drugs that I can remember - Avonex, Copaxone and Beteseron. Not saying it didn't happen, but sounds strange.
