:) Virginia I agree with all of the posters. I lean on this board too. Many days I am down but just reading this board gives me a lift.
Andy is still dating Jamie's 1st cousin, Torre. Yesterday both of her out of town daughters were here and one has two little girls. They all went to the local water park. Well Torre slipped in one of the pools and her knee got ripped open. She was taken by ambulance to the ER and had 46 stitches.
Andy came by and got the rolling walker with brakes for her. Unfortunately her condo is upstairs and there is no elevator. Today Andy came for the bedside commode. Next time he comes I will give him a female urinal which will be better than the commode. I don't know why I did not think of that earlier.
I am still sleeping a lot. Instead of worrying about it, I am just doing what my body says and letting it go. For sure that is less stress. Jeanie :)

I just went to the store, and probably won't leave the house until next Friday. I have plenty of food, and plenty of beer, so I need nothing. My needs are simple.
My brother has been pretty dependable about calling on Fridays lately. If he can't, he emails to let me know.
Everyone have a great weekend.
You too, Howie. It's almost over, and it's getting on towards September. Cooler weather seems to be happening.
I just have to crow about how I fixed my iPad. It's the iPad my DIL gave me a couple of years ago because she was upgrading to a newer one, and so it is almost too old to be covered by any online support. I've been able to fix anything that went wrong with it until a few weeks ago, when it went into something called "Activation Lock" and there seemed no way out of that.
I consulted my handy book about iPads many times. I went online many times and did searches. Everywhere I was told that there's really no way out of an activation lock because it's there as a safeguard against theft.
I gave up a few weeks ago and felt very sad about losing this resource. It's very nice to take with me when I know I'll have long waits with nothing to do. I can play a few games on the iPad, and if WiFi is available where I am, I can even be online. And at times when I can't get online on my PC without an hour or so of tinkering with it, I can turn to the iPad for e-mail, etc.
Friday I decided to try again, and I found out that some older iPads go into activation lock because there's been an upgrade to iOS 9 that didn't sit too well with older iPads. Lo and behold, with some passwords and passcodes that I had written down, I was able to undo the activation lock--and got the iPad back, with no harm done.

Agate, if I did something like that I would take a lot more space to tell about it. That was a nice piece of work. You have such perseverance. I have always thought that about you.
Jeanie, so sorry about Torrey. That is an awful lot of stitches. Andy is such a dear I know he will take good care of her, but what a predicament to be in away from home.
Met some of the family tonight because it is my youngest brother's wife's birthday and we had to get together for that. She seems to be better about the nodule on her thyroid. Cherie I told her what you said and I think she had been reading some too.
More bad news. We had a text from my Niece who is with our brother in S.C. She said her Dad had a better afternoon yesterday, but not today. She says he is back in Hilton Head Hospital. However, she did not tell us why they took him from rehab and returned him to the hospital. We don't know if it is heart or leg related.
My middle brother's wife was not there tonight because she is sick in bed. They have movers coming in the morning and I think that brother is about to have a heart attack. He can't lift anything because of his heart and he is having a fit about everything. Their bed is one of those that lets up and down on both sides and it is hard to put together.
Nephew, Grayson was there. He looked good, but has had something cracked in his shoulder and has been unable to play golf for a long time. Now his back is locking up on him and he can't play for another long time. He said his trainer is coming tomorrow and he also was returning to the Doctor this week. He is PGA golfer, so this is big deal. He can't practice or play.
My youngest Niece and her husband were there. They are the ones that live in the community where both my brothers have moved to. They run at 4AM in the morning. Then go to work.Virginia

Virginia ~
I hope the news continues to be promising for your brothers and family, and for you. Sending healing prayers for all ~ And lots of extra ((((((Hugs))))))
Jeanie ~
Prayers for Torre. Bless you for lending her your equipment. It's obvious where your sons got their kindness and caring ~ from their lovely Mom.
As for sleep, you know your body better than anyone. Are you due for a check up in the near future? You might mention this to your doctor, and perhaps have a blood draw to see if there's anything meaningful there.
agate ~
Congratulations! Now, could we fly you down here to figure out Jim's iPad?
On Thursday, John was here to turn Jon, and he borrowed Jim's iPad charger to charge his iPad. John asked me, "Have you called Spectrum yet?"
I just laughed. "You don't have any idea how long a phone call to Spectrum takes. Hours."
"How about next week?" John suggested.
"Next week, nurse here Tuesday to change Jon's cath and trache. Weds. plumber here to put in two toilets. Yeah, maybe I can squeeze in a few wasted hours on Thursday to call Spectrum."
I know Jim wants his iPad, and I want him to have it. But TIME is not my friend. And, I need brain cells and the ability to concentrate.
You've inspired me, agate. But I still don't have time to deal with it!
Prayers for all ~
Love & Light,

Rose

Virginia, your family is having some very bad times. I hope that your luck will take a turn for the better. Soon! It must be sad to have to deal with so many stressful situations.
Thanks for the compliment but I don't think it's perseverance driving me. I've tried many different ways of whiling away the time I spend waiting for transportation over the years. I've tried crocheting squares for an afghan but I tend to drop the hook or the yarn--hard to pick them up from the floor when sitting in a wheelchair. I've tried bringing along a stack of mail order catalogs to go through. Again, I tend to drop them. I've tried bringing along Sunday crossword puzzles printed out from my online subscription to them. That has been a pretty good option but I do them in ink (not an ideal way to do a crossword unless you're an expert) and drop the porous-point pen. Also, all of the letters I enter are shaky because there's no hard surface to write on.
So I was really gungho about getting that iPad up and running again. There's absolutely nothing to do while waiting around usually. I have to keep on the lookout for the van in case they can't find me but I can do something that doesn't take too much concentration. Like Candy Crush or solitaire games on the iPad.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

Virginia,
Holding you firmly before the Throne.
This is clearly a place where we are safe to share or vent or whine and still have a home.
David's had a yucky couple of days. He has a really off the wall seller who is selling her mother's home after having put Mom in a nursing home. Place is a mess and has a leaky roof and septic problems and she is firing nasty texts to David saying that she will not fix anything. She has the keys and there will be no closing without HER TERMS being met. This is a retired couple buying the house because kids and grand kids live a block away and they are moving across the Country to be with them. He had trouble sleeping last night it ate at him so. Secondarily, it is majorly messing with his cognition. He got lost yesterday biking back to the condo from Cannon Mountain (9 miles on a paved bike path). He tried to take 4 separate exits on the way here this weekend and we have been coming here for years. We have been playing Yahtzee and he cannot add his columns or figure what he needs to throw for. Stress is a huge part of this for him and this last couple of days it has been quite clear that is the case. We have a 5 hour visit to pre-qualify him for the clinical trial that they say he might be able to get into on Wednesday.
Today was lovely here hovering in upper 60s to lower 70sw so I spent a good chunk of time sitting by the lake and visiting with friends. Heather and the boys will be here in about an hour. Beds are made amnd set for everyone to pile in and sleep when they get here. We are going home Tuesday but she is staying till Thursday and a family that she babysits for is renting across the hall but their rental ends Tuesday so they are coming over here and hanging out with her for a few more days so there will be 2 moms and five 11-15 years olds in this place when we leave.

Thanks everyone again.
Cherie, you now know for certain that stress is one enemy as far as David goes. I hope they find out more if they get him into the trial. I just hope that they do. I hate for you to have to drive that far, but it seems necessary for someone to be with him during this. I just am praying that your problems will not worsen during this.Virginia
