I can't imagine the agony of constant itching. I don't know whether this will help, but it won't hurt:

We've used Body Shop's Hemp Protector for nearly 20 years, and it works very well to stop itching. Our neighbor, who was in renal failure, had a terrible rash all over his torso, which itched terribly. They tried everything, including cortisone. Nothing helped him. I gave him a tube of the Hemp Protector, and he got relief.

Now, the Body Shop has other hemp protector products, including one for the face:

Yesterday, I read an article about the effectiveness of Lord Jones CBD cream for pain. It is expensive at $60 for 50 ml.

I'm thinking about ordering it for Jim and my RA pain. I don't know whether it would stop the itching, which is probably associated with nerve damage, but I just thought I'd toss it out there for you.

Sam has been fine. I made a trip to the store yesterday JUST so she would have her turkey. But she's not spoiled...........

The roads must be passable now? A video posted here a while back showing some of the damage not far from you showed lots of downed trees and other fallen items blocking the roads.

Up at 3 AM to take second dose of Prednisone. It’s 50 mg P.O. at 9p, 3a and 9a. Also, the Zyrtec at 9 a before the 1 mi trip to the Brigham.

I had a bad stomach episode late afternoon yesterday. I had tea and a banana for breakfast and tea and vegegetable soup (mostly clear) for supper. It was too much. It seemed very delayed in stomach. There is much gas, acid and discomfort. I walked the hall w Peter three times to move things along. I was very uncomfortable and my blood pressure spiked to 190/ 100. These spikes are new since half way through the ER visit.

I hope when we return from the Brigham that they will investigate the stomach!!

We can not say enough about the excellent care here at Faulkner, part of Partner’s Healthcare and part of the Brigham system. The nurses are truly awesome!

Thinking of you, Ann. Hope all goes well tomorrow.
Have you been tested for H pylori? Have read so much about it because my s-i-l had it, probably for years. Unfortunately she was bulimic too, so it was overlooked and not treated until it was too late for her, even though she sought help. She had numerous blood tests and endoscopies. I've read that H pylori can cause liver problems and hypertension issues too. I don't want to scare you, I'm sure you're already scared, but I'm worried about you.

Nuthatch, I went on a boat whale watching in the Cape Cod area one time. We did see some whales. It was fun. No sharks that day.

Ann, I hope they test you for what Nuthatch said and everything else before they let go of you. Very worried. Glad you are getting good care.

ANN, I'm so glad you're getting good care, and I hope they're doing everything possible to make your medical procedures as easy as possible for you.

I hope they can figure this out and FIX it.

Cat, for some reason the Aquaphor is helping the itching. I hope you will try it. You can get it from any drug store and sometimes your grocery store has it. You could put it on your shoulder while you are up and maybe by the time you go to bed it will have kind of dried into the skin and will not be too messy.

The test went well and the was not a dye reaction. Unfortunately the small something is a small artery that narrows under stress. I have to have a cardiac cath tomorrow back at the same place. ;-(. It’s scheduled for 4PM. I don’t like having a major procedure at 4 on a Friday but it beats having a heart attack on Saturday.

They say this “may” be related to the stomach problem but I think not. We will see. And I have to be npo after minight for a 4 PM appt. Ridiculous.

Ann, glad the test went well. Now to see what the catherization shows. Still saying prayers. I agree that the npo after midnight for a 4P.M. is a bit much. However you have not been eating anyway. I wish you could tolerate some good wholesome food again.

What the heck? You will be dehydrated?!

Can you pursue that illogic order? If it was a 7 a.m. procedure, they wouldn’t be NPO after 1:00 pm the preceding day! (Or would the?)In both cases it’s npo for 16 hours!! Something seems wrong here. i would def call. Page the doctor. Or ask peter to?

I just checked Mayo Clinic for an overview of cardiac catheterization. Mayo says 6 hours NPO, not 16! What is the deal with 16 hours for you? Are you on a saline drip for hydration? I agree with Sunshine that 16 hours without fluid would cause some dehydration.

In your shoes, I'd feel the same way about a procedure at 4 p.m. on a Friday. But you have the right attitude, in that it needs to be done as soon as possible, and waiting for a better day or time might put you at risk.

If you should need a stent, will one be placed during the procedure?

I can imagine that you are anxious, so I hope that you are able to relax or that you're given something to help you relax.

I am praying that God will guide the hands and hearts of your surgeon and your medical team. I'm praying for strength, healing, patience, and confidence that all will be well for you and Peter. And I'm praying for good results leading to a diagnosis and treatment for you to return to full health.

I'll be holding your hand tomorrow in spirit.
