Cat, that is basically what I was told regarding Gabapentin and shingles. That it would help the nerves to calm and get a rest until they heal. My eye doctor made some comment about that nerve that runs over half the front of the scalp and half the face including the eye, firing away. That was not exactly what he said, but that is what he meant. Can't remember his words.

I am slowly packing up the house for move between Thanksgiving and xmas.

5 Weeks yesterday and I am still hurting. Please tell me there will be an end to this.

Hi Virginia, I am sorry you are still hurting. It’s been a long time.

I am feeling the same. I am not able to eat much solid food though I did have a soft boiled egg today. That is all of the solids so far. For supper, I am going to have a little turkey in a quarter of a small pita bread.

I went back to the doctor’s office today via Uber for repeat blood tests. I also had a test for hemochromatosis, a genetic disease that would explain the high ferritin that they found. Here is info on that:

It mentions that it is found in those diagnosed with MS among others.

I also had repeat liver enzymes, my third in a week, and they are coming down a little each day.

We are supposed to fly to my Mom’s on Sunday. I am hoping that that is possible.

Ann, I am so very sorry you are so sick. That just is not much food at all in a day. I do hope that they will find definitely what is wrong. It might be hemochromatosis. I read much of the site you referenced and it is concerning. However, if it is caught early it sounds as if it is not as bad as I initially feared. Since you had not mentioned being sick until recently I have no idea how long this has been going on. I know you and Peter are very upset.

I hope you can go to your Mom's, but on the other hand I hate for you to try and make the trip until you are much better.

You have been so active with all your exercise and work outs that this just hardly makes sense.

Please keep us informed when you can. You will definitely be in my prayers.

I am taking 100mg, 2 times a day, sometimes 3 if my leg acts up. It seems to help both the shingles and the leg cramps.

ANN, I hope you'll start feeling better and not have hemochromatosis. If you do turn out to have it, I hope it will be in the more easily treatable stage.

Not feeling like eating can drain a person's strength.

Sunshine, that's exciting news about the packing! That must mean that the place is almost ready for you? Hope you'll let us in on the details though we'll understand if you're pretty busy with the move.

things are fine here in Iowa,, if you call grumpy farmers fine,, they have yet to combine,, by now the fields should be done,, but our wet weather,{ 8 inches in 10 days} put a stop to that,,

I'm so very sorry for all that you are enduring. I hope that your physician is exploring every possible diagnosis, and it seems so, given the genetic testing you're having for hemochromatosis.

Prayers for all, who are affected by Hurricane Michael. Early reports show quite a bit of devastation in the Panhandle. I hope that those of you, who live on the Atlantic Coast, will be spared. And Virginia, I hope it withers before it reaches the Carolinas. I wish they had given this hurricane a different name.

We are supposed to get rain later today from outer bands of Michael. Tomorrow the cape could get up to 6" of rain.

Not sure how to process and deal with a new stressor. David has been managing our retirement accounts with day trading and has generally done well with it. In the past month, he has lost 20% of our retirement savings. If he sold now, we would lose over $100,000. I do not know how much of this is loss of executive functioning and how much is just the current market status. He tried at length to explain his strategy and rationale this morning and the more he talked , the more anxious I became. I don't expect answers but needed to vent. Sorry.

Cherie, day trading scared me at it's best. I know you said you were not seeking answers, however have you approached David with the idea that putting your savings in the hands of a professional would take a lot of stress off him at this time. You don't have to mention any gains or losses. I know you must worry and with good reason. I have just in the past couple of months made some financial decisions that would have an effect on the rest of my life. I really was stressed out for awhile, but now that I have made the decision I feel better about it. I did it with the help of a professional. I was going to make a move that would have worked for me for the next 10 years and he showed me how I could make it work for my lifetime. Sometimes, but not always, they do help.

It is raining here and some places are expected to flood. It is expected to get heavier later today. The wind is blowing the trees and that is to get a little worse also. They closed some schools in the area and I feel sure it was due to the expected flooding.

Glad I went out for hair and grocery shopping yesterday and not today. I slept on a silk pillow case last night and my hair still looks real good today. Of course no one is due to come by with the weather like it is. I am letting my short, short hair grow into a little longer bob like cut. It is about where I want it. Even my hair dresser (who gave me the short, short haircut) likes it better.
