    Virginia,
They have to put that info on heating pads or folks can misuse. You can sit with it between your back and the chair. No more than 20 minutes on at a time.

Lovely crisp cold day here with not a cloud in the sky, a skim coat of white and air feeling so fresh!

She did tell me that the culture would be back in a couple of days and that if this antibiotic does not work for it she will send in a new prescription. This is generic for Macrobid. I think I have had this before, but it has been a long time. If back problem does not get better in the next few days I will definitely e-mail and ask what the changes are of it being a kidney infection. I had thought of that already. I was running a low grade fever in her office yesterday and had chills when I got home. I took Tylenol and that got alright. I am taking Tylenol today to help with back pain.

I wanted the heating pad so I could put it on my back and lean back against it while I was in the living room in my chair, but I am very much afraid to do that. It specifically said not to. I had not planned to lay on it at all. I guess leaning back on it is pretty much the same as laying on it.

It is cold here to me, but I have the gas logs and I am enjoying them the last couple of days. It got up to 63 yesterday, but when I came out of Doctor's office it was cooling off quick, so I got my medicine and got home.

I am eating Marie Callender this week. I have food to cook, but I am just not up to that right now. Laura came today and hit the high spots in the house, so I am going to let the dusting go. I asked her to vacuum the living room and dinning room at least. She went over the floor so fast that I don't call it really vacuuming, but I guess it is better than nothing.

I washed my sheets today and I will have to put fresh sheets on, but I will try to be very careful when I do it and I might take a Tylenol shortly before doing that tugging and bending, to help a little.

Sure glad we are back on line, and Moderator 7 is looking out for us.

Cherie, I was posting at the same time as you. I had not thought of that. I don't have to keep it there for an hour. I can just use it 20 minutes or so. It has different settings, such as something like low, medium and high.

I agree with Cherie..... extreme warnings for those folks not careful. Like the warning on an electric hair dryer I had, once: "Do Not Use While Showering!!!" Well, yes. :) I'd probably be careful about falling asleep with it between my back and chair, but if you're awake and aware, it shouldn't be a problem...

Do check about a kidney infection. I'd probably call a doctor right away. You don't want to let that get out of hand, if it is an infection!

I've been using a heating pad on my back for around 40 years. The only problem I had was burning my back many years ago, when I fell asleep with the heating pad on. Now, Jim and I have heating pads, which automatically turn off after an hour. We both use heating pads every day, while in bed. I use mine when I go to bed and when I wake up. It's the only thing that helps me go to sleep and be able to get out of bed to start my day. (I have RA.)

I am also concerned that your back pain could be kidney related. Tylenol is very hard on the kidneys. I think a call to your doctor first thing tomorrow morning is wise. I hope you don't have a kidney infection, but I think it needs to be ruled out.

Healing prayers on the way ~

The information in the Healthline link includes a caution about heat therapy for persons with MS.

My take on that is that there are times when I put up with my heat reaction (weakness, blurred vision, etc.) for the sake of relieving the pain. I reach a point where I just don't care about the MS symptoms that probably will come along--I just want to stop the pain or at least calm it down to a dull roar.

Some of you probably saw the thread started by someone who wanted to take a survey about treatment satisfaction.

Surveys are allowed here, but ONLY if the survey taker has written to Mike and Mike has approved the survey. If Mike approves a survey, he will always start a thread and post the identity of the survey taker and the purpose of the survey. Mike will also notify the moderators that a survey has been approved.

I received no information that Mike had approved a survey. Since the TOS clearly state that surveys must be approved by Mike and this survey taker's post stated they didn't know if surveys were allowed, I deleted the thread and banned the survey taker. I would also like to warn people not to click on links from survey takers or people they don't know, as there could be a virus on the linked page. You may also report the post of a survey taker if you don't see a post with Mike's approval of the survey posted.

                Thank you.

I missed this post earlier. I appreciate the explanation. I thought when I read the post about a survey that maybe it would be OK because it wasn't an instance of someone trying to come in here and study us, possibly while participating in this forum as well. It seemed like a different kind of study--one where we'd have to sign up to participate on another site, much as some of us have done with the ongoing NARCOMS study over the years.

Yes, the NARCOMS people are studying us but those who take part in it are voluntarily doing so, answering questions directed at us. We're not being passively studied--as by someone visiting this forum and quietly taking notes on our posts, or jotting down statistics on page views, numbers of replies, etc., for the purpose of using them in a study we might or might not even be told about.

At least that's one way that the TOS could be interpreted, it seems to me.

But I think it's good to be on the safe side. You just don't know when you click on a link posted by someone you know nothing about.

I've been wondering too though I was away for the last few hours at a hearing aid appointment.

Howie almost always checks in every day. It wasn't that he's been the only guy here. Soul drops in now and then, and there have been a couple of others.

I hope he gets online again soon. He did say that this board would be the first place he'd go to once he has the computer back.

I'm trusting that my disastrous attempt at calling him didn't discourage him. I thought I knew enough about this phone to make a call on it but odd things happened, and my call to Howie kept getting cut off. At one point I had another call coming in and wasn't sure what to do about it. Suddenly I was hearing my neighbor's voice and seeing her number on the screen. So far as I know I hadn't accepted the call. I told her she had the wrong number (which she did) and got Howie's call back but it was really unsettling.

Seems I should have swiped something to the right to decline that incoming call, and it would have gone to Voicemail.

I sometimes wish that they'd have started this major technological revolution many years ago when I could have been happier and more excited about it....

Actually they did start it many years ago. I just didn't keep up with it. Kept on using my landline phone and using an older (simpler) cellphone when I had to.

You people there must really love snow! We had hail here today, with some golfball sized hail, but at least no snow to speak of.

I was out at the audiologist's and that was the first time I've been anywhere in a vehicle in over 3 months. I hibernate in winter.

One hearing aid is dead and had to be sent for repair--so I go back in a month to pick it up. I hadn't been hearing well for a long time, thought my hearing was getting worse. A hearing evaluation was done today, and it is getting worse but only slightly. The big problem was the dead aid.

Agate, I had rather it be the hearing aid than your hearing.

We are as usual cold and rainy. I have never seen so much rain as we have had here this winter.

I am hibernating this week. I have used my heating pad 4 times this week, but I have to confess I did not stop with 20 minute intervals. I went on for 30 min and once for about 40 min. It feels so good to my back.

I think I know why Sunshine thought maybe she didn't like the antibiotic I am on. It makes you feel bad and have a slight stomach problem and some weakness. At least that is the reaction I am getting.

Peg, take care of yourself in all that snow.

Agate, I miss Howie too. I am sure you didn't scare him off with your new phone. I hope he gets his computer fixed soon.

I'm here. Finally over my flu/cold/whatever it was, and back to relative "normal". We've had lots of snow here, too- - 14 inches, followed by 6 inches, followed by 4 inches yesterday, and a snow/rain mix on Saturday...…. Is it spring, yet?????

March 20 officially but I've seen more robins than you can shake a stick at.

Not sure why anyone would want to shake a stick at robins...but they're out there. The sun is shining here, with no sign of the amazing hail we had yesterday.
