I've never heard of Poppyseed Market. Does it specialize in poppyseeds? I love poppyseeds.

Poppyseeds sounds like rodent food to me. Oh, but not for you Agate.

Thunderstorms going on now and for days to come. I lost power last night for about 30 minutes. No power is the pits.

Agate, Poppyseed Market is a restaurant that is in my neighborhood. They have places to sit inside and outside to order dinners and then they also have a refrigerated counter with fresh food to eat there or take out. Of course I get mine to go. Tonight I had quiche, mixed green salad with strawberries, cranberries and poppy seeds. I also bought some fresh fruit for dessert. I have sometime wondered if poppy seeds are the same as sunflower seeds.

So anyway, Poppyseed Market is not really a market, but a neighborhood restaurant. I noticed a special they had on their dinner menu tonight was blueberry salmon. I would like to have tried that, but their plates are too hard to carry home and also I was there about an hour before I was going to eat and I would not want to ruin the salmon by trying to heat it up.

Howie, please don't say rodent food, it might spoil that place for me.

Howie, you're turning into a cat, with a cat's tastes.

Virginia, poppyseeds are from poppies while sunflower seeds are from sunflowers. They're not the same at all. Poppyseeds are excellent in cakes, coffeecakes, cookies, on top of fruit salads or other salads, and sprinkled on top of some types of bread. I've seen them in other kinds of recipes too.

I can't imagine feeding them to any rodent.

              ((((((Hugs to All)))))) ~

At 8:19, Jim and I were watching the Dodgers' game, and the house began swaying. A 7.1 quake struck, which means that yesterday's 6.4 quake was a foreshock.

Tonight's quake lasted for at least 40 seconds, which is a very long time for a quake.

It took several minutes before the cords to the dining room fan stopped swaying.

The Dodgers' announcers said "The Earth is moving again. Feels like we're having another earthquake."

As the swaying continued, I said to Jim, "This is not good. There have been over a hundred foreshocks to this quake."

The quake, from the fault on which our home sits, 4 years ago, had aftershocks, many of them above 3 and a few at 4. But, there were hours between them. This is constant activity.

Every time a quake rocks our home, it disturbs the foundation. I worry about the stability of our home to withstand this constant assault.

My prayers are with the people in proximity to the epicenter. I know how stressed I was after our quake, and it was nothing as severe as this.

And I pray that this was the actual quake and not a foreshock to a larger one.

              Love & Light,

Rose, I was just watching the late news here in the East and they were saying basically what you just said. I think they were reporting from California and Lester Holt lives there. He happens to be on vacation and home and he and his wife were in a theater and he took her by the hand and they left.

At one point there was a lady on there who predicts earthquakes and she says the chances of a big one hitting LA are 100%. Of course, she didn't say when or how long it would be. I am sure you are finding all of this unnerving. I just hope the earth calms down out there. I am really concerned about Nuthatch and her family. If you recall it wasn't that long ago that she said there was a decent size one not that far from her house.

Agate, I don't know what I was thinking about, of course I know what poppy seeds are. They are the real tiny ones that a lot of places put on little muffins and things like that. The ones in the salad I had are definitely sunflower seeds. I use to eat lots of them, so I don't know how I could have forgotten.

Just checking in . . . felt the earthquake here this evening, even though we're 250 miles away from LA. It was the longest lasting earthquake I think I've ever felt. It was a long rolling quake, no sharp jolts which are very nerving, but it definitely had all the hanging fixtures swaying. I called to check on all my siblings Like Lester Holt, one brother with with his ex in a movie theater in a S. Cal mall when it struck. It moved enough cause them to evacuate the mall. This quake was felt by each of my four brothers, who are scattered from Las Vegas, Orange County, and the San Gabriel Valley, and on up to me in San Luis Obispo County. We did not feel the smaller quake here yesterday. I just hope there aren't more to come. It will be a nervous night.

So glad my youngest is here with us in Florida. But goes back sunday night to So. Calif... worried about our MS people, and my two other family members in S Calif— so far, it looks like the epicenter again is in Ridgecrest.

Having been through a few quakes in Calif as a younger woman, I can tell you they are scary as you don’t know if they will stop and if they will get worse....

Glad Nuthatch, Rose and your daughter are OK, Sunshine.

It’s hot and humid here with full sun. Thinking about Linda at a Farmer’s Market all day. I,be got MIL’s grocery shopping and lunch today.

I hope Cherie will check in.

It's pasta day, but I'm done and cooling down. It got hot up there. Once I cool off, I'll take a bath, and eat sometime later. Everyone have a great day.

So glad to know that those affected by the California quakes are doing OK. Your 7.1 must have been entirely too much drama, particularly right after that other one. Hope things will calm down now. I hope you won't be finding any damage to anything you value.

Never a dull moment! Nuthatch, I hope your quail family are OK too.

Nuthatch, I am so glad you checked in with us. I have been on edge even here in NC just thinking about you, your family, Rose and Jim and the people who were effected by this quake. I am sure you have not slept much since the one you felt. Have you looked out the windows of your house to see the quail family? I bet that really scared them.

Sunshine, so glad your youngest is right there with you, but know you are concerned about the rest of your Calif family.

Ann, I've been wondering about Cherie. When she is home she usually tries to check in with us. I hope her diverticulosis is getting better. Maybe she has been out with David still celebrating the 4th as much as she can while on antibiotics.

Howie, you are really smart. You must have been up early and I happen to know you were up late last night because we both were on here. I had to sleep late today in order to re-cooperate from yesterday. I thought about it and I need to revise how much I walked. I think it was at least 3 decent blocks. When I got home I was saying to myself that I could get everything in the house in two trips. Well, when I went out for the second trip I left my car keys in the house and then I set the horn off to the car, so I had to get back in the house and get my keys. The horn had finally stopped (for which I am sure my neighbors were thankful) and the lights on the car were blinking. So, I think I did a little more than what I was giving myself credit for after walking into K-Mart to get Rx and also I remembered that all the parking was full right in front of the nail salon so I had to park a little way away from there.

No deaths or serious injuries known of so far in the 7.1 California quake, and that's good news.

These earthquakes/hurricanes/tornadoes, etc., may be Nature's way of reminding us that we're not really in charge. At all. If we thought we were. we were sadly deluded.

So glad the California peeps are doing okay, how terrifying!

I echo Sunshine, so happy to have Cat and Jeanie back.

Sunshine, enjoy your visit, hope the IVIG accessibility issue is resolved for you soon.

                                Cherie, feel better soon!

                                Howie, enjoy your pasta.

                                Hi to all!

Oh, Virginia...your story of the shower stool is so awful, and I'm so sorry that happened! I think it's scary because I can so relate! I hope you are able to return it. A device like that should not be made as a DIY project!
