Today I swam 20 minutes, 606 Yards, in early coolness of morning. That should do it for today. Wish I could do more....grateful can still do this, though

Today I went surfing in ankle to shin high clear ocean! The beach was hot but the water was cool, so it felt great!
The conditions were so poor, small, so only my group was there! There were bait fish swimming north. A spinner shark leapt out if deep wTer, such a breathtaking sight!
I stayed on my stomach as it was so shallow. That’s a lot of fun too! To top it off, one of the crew has a birthday, so we celebrated that too!
Since there was less physicality involved in the paddle outs, I lasted a lot longer than usual. About 100 minutes.
Like always, I dreaded going last night and this morning, but enjoyed it as soon as my buddy picked me up.
I find that my pain and severe limitations cause me to feel apart from the scene. Maybe you feel that way too inpublic? Do you?

Well, I went surfing sat and Sunday:)
At first it was hard on Saturday because I couldn’t find a ride. It’s hard being so dependent. At the last moment though a friend volunteered. Was sad because I knew the waves would be perfect.
And they were. Glassy thigh high refreshing turquoise waves! And all the locals showed up. ‘Twas very fun indeed!
Then I was offered a generous ride again the next day and the waves were perfect again, contrasted with the forecast of flat....wrong!
I got rides both days on the waves and on the road trip :)
It’s just so glorious to be there. I don’t forget my problems, since the legs are constantly talking and threatening to spasm, and my surfing looks like a beginne now. But, there is also the experiential joy of being in the ocean that lives beside the pain.
I think I am still fighting the disease, still wishing I could be able to drive there, walk down the boardwalk, not need help. I am guessing that is what most of us deal with 24/7.
Today I cut my swim short to 15 minutes, 1/4 mile, so I could run two errands without seizing up.Last edited by Sunshine; 07-02-2018, 07:58 AM.

I went surfing today. Two of my buddies provided transportation and help to carry all of my gear and push the wheelchair. The waves are very beautiful. They were clean and about thigh high. It was a really friendly bunch on the water as well.
I caught about six waves and one of them was very satisfying. So nice to be in the ocean on a longboard. I just love gliding across the surface and feeling the water splash all around. I seem to tolerate the exercise a bit more than usual which was very nice to see!
It is wonderful to be out there on the water amongst such fun loving and healthy people. The older ones all have their challenges whether it’s joint problems, cardiac problems, or diabetes etc. Well it is hard to forget ones limitations when pain keeps reporting, there are wonderful life affirming things that certainly provide a delicious distraction.I have learned to pay close attention to any chatting coming from my feet or shins. I get out immediately and rest 10 or 15 minutes until the sensations quit. I think that has helped to avoid crippling muscle spasms

I woke up at 1 a.m. today again with ankle spasms pulling my feet sideways. Oof. Took Tizanidine.
By breakfast I was okay. So, with trepidation, I went surfing
It was a repeat of yesterday. I can see my body healing somewhat— my pop up is better, and my balance on the board is better. I was able to take a couple of steps on the board too. I got manywaves , by resting every 10 to 15minites to settle down the muscle tension.
