I spoke too soon. My car AC went off for a while today. It must need a charge of freon. In looking at the temps over the US, Seattle wins out but it does rain there a lot. Talked with a man from Seattle in the restaurant the other day.....he was originally from the south.....he doesn't like living in Seattle because of the rain. It sounds wonderful to me at the moment.

We have central AC and a window unit in my bedroom and the house is still in the lower 80's. The AC's are only able to keep the temp about 20 degrees lower than the outside temps. So we reached 106 one day and the inside temp was 83 so that was the best the AC could do but better than no AC!

LeafWatchers. this hasn't been done, in a few years, Laurel, usually gets things in motion, but , it wasn't showing to much interest, so its in limbo,,

I have no central air, or window air condtioners,,, fans, and a whole house fan, which really doesn't keep up, with our humidity. I would love to try a swamp cooler, but it wouldn't work in places, with humidity..

It is still above 100 degrees ugh.

Peg you do not want a swamp cooler at anything above 20-25% humidity it will turn your house into a sauna at 60% or above you are going to have mold growing on the wall board.

The first few years we just had fans then tried a swamp cooler it works okay but not when it gets this hot.

I am staying in the house most of the day. But the heat is beginning to cause problems. Having trouble typing my fingers don't want to do what I tell them. glad I have spell check. Feeling nauseous

An AC unit is suppose to help take away the humidity. But I think with higher humidity adding a dehumidifier might be a good idea. Less humidity makes the temps more bearable.

Renee, I got my cooling vest from the MSAA (free) a few years back. It is a Steele vest (navy) and with the cool packs inserted weighs about 5 #'s. I think it would look great with a stencil on the back.

Seriously! I think I read somewhere that the alcohol industry got it outlawed in the first place because they didn't want the competition. They had the big bucks so they were the winners.

As long as you don't drive stoned I don't think it should be illegal either!

About cooling vests--I recall someone, and I think it was Cherie, posting about decorating or redesigning the cooling vest to make it more stylish. I'm sorry I can't come up with the exact thread but there were some neat ideas about how to jazz up your cooling vest.

That was Cherie. She made a pattern to make them more stylish. She asked to be PM'd for details.

My search using her name and "cooling vest" came up w this odd reply:

I think the searcher (me) is fine but the software is sick??

I often get those answers wrong. Some of the letters and numbers are ridiculously hard to see, IMO.

True not just here but on all sites that use them.

I recall the cooling vest makeover that Cherie discussed was a while ago--and may be in the Archives. Do I recall a photo or two of the finished product?

I'd have been tempted to try this except that when I need to wear my cooling vest, the chances are that I'm not going to be among people anyway and so its lack of style wouldn't bother me. I hibernate in hot weather if possible.

I've often had that message. There seem to be time limits on searches and on posts.

If you scroll down on the page where you do a search, you'll find a "random question" or one of those boxes where you have to copy some letters and numbers. I have no idea why this is required for a search but there it is....

:) Hi everyone. I get that message if I don't double click fast enough when posting. I am glad this board and all of you are here.

David's MRI showed more new tumors. Before they were all in the right lobe but now some are in the left lobe. He has no idea what they will do for him and he does not see the doctor until the 24th. It has been about two months since his last surgical chemoembolization which shrunk some of them and I wish he had had one more of those before he went up there. He has been there 46 days and it is 11 more days before he sees the doctor and the if they do anything it will be scheduled after that and in the meantime the tumors are growing. I do not believe he would be a candidate for the lobectomy as his cancer is in both parts of his liver now. I am really scared now and he is also. I hope they can do the ablation which heats the tumors to destroy them. Ideally do that ablation (heat treatment) now and put him on the liver waiting list but we do not get to choose. All prayers are appreciated. Thank you all. Jeanie :)
