I've numbered my posts in chronological order. I've sampled emojis from 3 different sites from flatcap's list. They were all easily transferable here by clicking on "Copy image" and using the copy-and-paste keystrokes. Now I'll try centering one of the images. That worked.

I'll have to revisit this later and play around some more with the emojis.

    2. I can't get the cursor past that emoji. I wanted to add text under it but for some reason it's not possible. I'll look into that. In the meantime, here's another one, from a different site, but this entire bit of text really belongs under that
    Spam emoji:

    3. Looks as if I can get past the Hallowe'een emoji (above) with some text, and now I'll try a third emoji:

    1. Trying one out just to see:

I previously encountered the same issue here and came up with this workaround:

Instead of copying the emoji, copy its url and paste it into the 'insert image' dialog box when composing your post.

If you type things in the right order — insert the text before you add the emoji — you can easily add a label under the image. (See above: Dueling Banjos)

Alternatively, you can type the text, then copy the emoji and paste it wherever you want: left-justified; right-justified; centered; above the text; below the text; etc.

        Hope this helps.

ETA: I type all of my posts in a word processor, then copy/paste them here. This helps me keep things in order. It is also why I generally copy/paste the url instead of the emoji itself. It adds an extra step or two to the process, but the results are predictable.

I couldn't get emojipedia emojis to work here either. So if nobody objects, I'll post links to the other emoji sites from flatcap's list as part of the Useful Websites sticky, if that is still possible. If it isn't, I'll try for permission from a moderator.

Agate, have you ever heard of "zalgo text" (aka, "glitch text")?

            Test: FAIL

ETA 1: Like Emojipedia, this one doesn't work here. Might be useful elsewhere, as it can be a lot of fun.

ETA 2: I tried another zalgo site, and it didn't work from there, either, so it must be the forum software. Apparently, the image file type(s) are not supported.

I hadn't heard of zalgo text or glitch text but looked them up. It might be a bit much of a muchness here, and so maybe there's a reason why it's not supported.

Maybe this is a good time to post that Rolling Stones song about how you can't always get what you want....

I have a feeling the reason the Emojipedia and zalgo images are not supported has to do with the file format(s). I am guessing they are supported on more up-to-date forums.

On the other hand, I found both the Emojipedia and zalgo images are supported on an old-school Shoutbox that I post on every now and then. They don't get more primitive than that, so maybe it's some kind of 'rule' set up by the admins in the forum software.

That would seem odd, though. Emojipedia is harmless, as is zalgo text. In addition, there is always Alt Code. Pretty hard to block that. You can spell any four-letter word you want with it — using ordinary characters as well just to liven things up — and, as a practical matter, there is no way to stop it.

I suppose you're right, though. About the song, I mean. I'll go ahead and post it just for fun, along with a cover by DEVO. We can take reader poll as to which version is better. FWIW, my vote goes to DEVO. It's never fair to expect much from the Rolling Stones, and this case is no exception.

Tonight I was hungry and really, really wanted something good for dinner. I wanted something that wasn't too much work or take too much time.
I had a big batch of French toast and bacon!
What a great meal - what a treat. I wished for a cup of coffee but settled for a glass of milk.

Jingle, I agree with Virginia. Anytime is the right time for breakfast, and that sounds like a good one.

I haven't gone out for breakfast for a while now and will have to go again sometime soon. I will report back when I do.

Ikoiko, you're welcome for the Deliverance clip.

Looks might as well give up on my reader poll, though, so I'll post another one for you Stones fans.

Maybe that'll keep you quiet for a while.

Agate, please see post #52 above and keep in mind when you do that I was half-joking.

The foundational joke was posting the DEVO cover of the song, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, alongside the original. It mocks the Rolling Stones in a way that I think is pretty funny.

Saying we should take a reader poll as to which version of the song is better was also supposed to be a joke. And posting another Stones song — Sympathy For The Devil — then saying that might keep their fans here quiet was obviously a joke. Posting the LOL smilie was intended to make all of this clear.

I should have perhaps included a smilie in post #52, not just the one shown in post #56, although I'm not sure it would have made any difference. If you did not watch the DEVO video or were not amused by it, it wouldn't have mattered.

On the serious side, I am not a Rolling Stones fan and never was. I think they are a joke.

You have to be in the mood for Mick Jagger, I think.

Thank you for explaining about the poll, flatcap. I don't see any post numbers but found the post from Oct. 14 in this thread. I don't know why I don't see post numbers but it's probably for the same reason I never see anyone's signature lines. It's been an issue here for a long time. Oddly enough, I can see all of that missing material if I'm using the iPad.

Anyway, I'll do the song comparison later today, I hope. Laundry is calling just now. I need to get in there early so as to avoid the rush.

I agree. I like the DEVO cover much better. It has original touches--and with that particular song, which I've never liked, partly because it's so repetitious that sometimes it sounds like a record is stuck--original touches are badly needed. Mocking the Stones is a good idea too.
