Not having to cook is a vacation, isn't it? I'm looking forward to getting back to the easier meals I was eating back when there were more teeth. This Tuesday I hope at last to have the 5 teeth I've been missing for many weeks. I'm really lucky to have as many teeth as I still have but these teeth I'm missing were needed for chewing, and I've been doing more cooking than usual lately just because there have been so many foods I can't eat. My idea of cooking now though is adding water to a package of beans and rice and simmering it for a while, or browning a veggie burger in a skillet for a few minutes.

It's not the cooking so much as the extra pots and pans I have to wash, I think.

Your SIL must be a good cook. Not everyone can make decent chili.

I like Wendy's chili and have gotten the chili and baked potato on many visits years ago. We still go to Wendy's occasionally for lunch but I have noticed that the price for chili has really increased from the days it was $0.99. I usually go to Wendy's when I am craving a burger and fries for lunch. I make my own chili. We have it for dinner the night I make it and I freeze the remaining 3 quarts to use for another night. I love having chili on a cold, damp evening. I made a big pot last week.

Agate, I hope getting your new teeth help you to enjoy eating again. I love the taste of food and that is evident by the extra pounds I carry around!

My dining room and living room remodel is mostly finished. I am waiting for some glass shelves for my dining room cabinet. I love the finished project and I kept the furnishings simple as to cut down on the dusting and cleaning that I have to do. The decorative items I want to display will be on the glass shelves in the dining room cabinet which has glass doors and is lighted. I have a similar cabinet in my kitchen and I only clean the items in the cabinet once or twice a year usually at Christmas when I change the decor for the season. Minimum items on the living room end tables so that I can dust using a Swiffer easily without moving lots of small items. I am glad to have that project behind me.

I hope everyone is having a nice day today!

Snuggles, your decor sounds very appealing. I like glass doors on cabinets and bookshelves as the things inside don't get dusty nearly as fast--and they look nice behind glass, showing how well cared for they are.

Do you use the Swiffer for floor mopping too? I've never had a Swiffer but understand there is a type that can be used as a floor mop.

I'm currently using an O-Cedar gadget that stores a water/vinegar mixture, and I squeeze the handle to make it spray onto part of the floor, and then mop with a washable sleeve that fits onto the mop end. I'm finding this useful but it also sprays water onto the bottoms of the wood cabinet doors, which are starting to show wear and tear from that, and I'm thinking about some other option.

For dusting, a task I have trouble getting around to somehow, I have a "feather duster" that is made of something odd, definitely not feathers, but so far it hasn't shed any of its weird yellow strands. Or I just use a dustcloth, sometimes a vacuum attachment. I have compressed air cans for the electronic stuff.

Snuggles, your living, dining rooms and kitchen sound beautiful and pleasant to walk in to. My dining room cabinet has glass doors, but not the glass shelves. I think the glass shelves would be beautiful. I have enjoyed having my things that are in there behind the glass because as you said they don't have to be cleaned as often.

I finally got some chili last night. I was going to try Wendy's but a SIL made some and brought me enough for a couple of nights. So, I have some frozen for another night. I never learned to make chili because my husband always made it when he was alive.

I did cook this evening. I made Chicken Malano. It was pretty good and I will eat on it for a couple of more nights. I probably would not have made it but I got ambitious when I went to the grocery store Saturday evening and bought the ingredients so I felt I had to make it.

All this talk about chili is making me seriously crave some.

Too bad it's too late to go out even to Wendy's to get some. They're about ready to close up for the night.
