renee, it sounds as if you won that round and got some updated appliances.

I'll be there too, along with the others. You can put that stove through its paces by cooking for a large crowd. Best way to find out if it's in good working order.

We'll start with Buffalo chicken wings, beef on wick and some low end local brew.
      To Buffalo!

I'll be ready as soon as you tell me what 'Beef on Wick' is!

I assume that beef is where you put a wooden stick through it so it can be served and eaten without utensils.

              What's in a name?

              From WIKIPEDIA...

              Beef on Weck

"A beef on weck is a sandwich found primarily in Western New York. It is made with roast beef on a kummelweck roll. The meat on the sandwich is traditionally served rare, thin cut, with the top bun getting a dip au jus. Accompaniments include horseradish, a dill pickle spear, and french fries.

The kummelweck roll gives the sandwich its name and a distinctive taste..."

Rump roast on sale this week at Stop and Shop. Put one in the oven before church tonight with potatoes, onion and carrots and a little mushroom gravy and black pepper. Yum! When we came home the house smelled like Grandma's on Sunday afternoons 50+ years ago. And the food was equally as good.

Renee...I love your description of new appliances....and of digging out from storms.

Dad did not have the best of days today. Mom said she had to give him three extra doses of morphine and he was having trouble eating again . Denial in effect major there right now. By what the Drs and Hospice have all said and the looks of his scans, he has outlived predictions by 2-3 months already. Hospice is wonderful at enabling extra quality of life for longer than planned. My guess is...I can no longer guess or predict. Tomorrow or sometime next year. However, my stress level has ramped way down on that front.

Doing the NMSS program on Mood and Cognition in MS at the MS Dream Center in a week and a half. Taking a newly diagnosed friend that I told you all about. Dave is talking with the husband. She is asking questions and never knew that she could get answers from other than her doc who is not an MS physician and (personally) difficult to communicate with. She is more hopeful and a bit better educated than a week ago.

With my copays on meds since I went on Medicare October 1, my insurance agent says I "look like I have fallen into the donut hole and they are charging me the 5-7.50% copays rather than the flat fees of 1-3 dollars /script that I was told I would be paying". Has to be because I went on in October rather than the plan year of January. Good news is that I got a letter from Social Security and the "little man" that called my disability into question and put me on monthly income reporting, cut my benefit and SS owes me over a thousand dollars in withheld benefits from January 1 when he put that plan into effect. My rate has increased for Cost of living as well so even though I am now paying premiums for B and D from my monthly benefit, it is near what it was going forward to what it was before I went on Medicare. And the copay on the Rebif is an IRWE (Impairment Related Work Expense) that knocks almost a thousand dollars a month off what income I do get so I will never be in jeopardy again as far as my benefit and being able to work part time. I guess all things really do work together for good ...(Rom 8:28).

Cherie, it's so nice to know about Social Security errors being corrected.

People with MS seem to get shafted every which way, often because it seems to be such a tricky disorder for anyone to understand. You almost have to experience it to grasp in what way it's disabling, debilitating, and all-around bad news.

Exacerbator, now I know what a kummelweck roll is. I have a feeling I've often eaten them without knowing the name! But I'd never heard of beef on weck. Looks like caraway seeds and maybe sesame seeds on the roll?

:) I am tired. I watched SNL last night until one. Then went to bed. I just got up at 12:30 and I am still very tired. I am going to take a sleeping pill, put in my ear plugs and sleeping mask.

Y'all behave while I am gone now and go back to bed and hope to catch up my sleep. I sure wish Gabriella could post any news. Jeanie :)

Virginia, I saved you a drumstick. Don't pay any attention to the bite taken out of it, I just wanted to be sure it was done.
