Well, we're due for another foot of snow. Government has asked non-essential personnel to stay home. Most people in this area are sick to death of it. With nowhere to put it, we'll still have it on the ground for months!

I really hate to say anything about weather.......Yesterday and today we broke records for highest temp It was 67 deg in the dead of winter. SO I have been out puttering and trying to finish my MIL house. I had the worst scare of my life and that is saying something, Saturday we took out stock trailer to Boise. It is like a Large 4 horse trailer, Driving along at 65 mph and the right rear tire of my trailer CAME OFF it was heavy traffic and I was in the slow lane someone motioned to my as I looked back I saw the tire fly across 3 lanes of traffic hit the center divider and roll along I stopped at the next exit and unhooked the trailer and went back to get the tire it was already gone, no one and nothing was touched. I am living a charmed life.

Looked like bering failure. I would say that a most of the time they catch fire and they have wooden floors.

Eek, Gary! Yes, I'd say you must be living a charmed life. Hope the good gnomes who are taking care of you will keep on the lookout.

Wow Gary, that is scary. I'll never forget the time I was driving down the freeway and someone ahead of me lost a wheel. The thing bounced right over the length of my vehicle . . . I sure dodged the bullet there . . . sounds like you did too!

Raining cats and dogs the last couple of days. Can't believe how things have greened up . . . it looks like the green hills of Ireland around here now! Such a change from the dust bowl it was just a month ago. Hubby managed to get a small tank (550 gal.) hooked up to catch rain water off 1/2 of the garage roof, to be used later for landscape watering, but not the other large tank (1550 gal.) before it started raining. He still needs to pour a cement slab for that one to sit on at the other end of the house, connect it to the guttering and plumb it for overflow. The smaller tank in now full . . . I hate to think of how much rain water we could have captured from the house roof if only we had had everything ready when this rain started.

Deer keep coming up and eating my little strawberry tree (decorative plant) . . . wish they'd leave it alone! David recently planted a few bare root fruit trees and put wire cages around them to keep the deer from munching them once they leaf out, and wire cages underground so the have a chance against the gophers or ground squirrels. So far we've got 2 varieties of fig, a fuyu persimmon, nectarine, plum, cherry and an apricot. Want to get an apple or two and some berries. Still to plant several live oaks, not to mention all the other landscaping and a veggie garden. So much work to do!!!

Gosh Gary, glad you got through that undamaged. I had a trailer to carry a car because I started drag racing. It was homemade, and the axle was too far forward. It was fine with no car on it. The first time I had the car on it, it began to fishtail bad.

Needless to say, I missed that race, but pretty much took the whole thing apart, and re-welded it the right way. But I got a good scare that first time!!!

I just read Hudson got the most snow in the state but businesses stayed open because the town was prepared. A lot of towns have basically shut down but I think we picked the right place to live.

I ordered the parts to fix the trailer from Oxford, Mass. this morning and he hoped that he could get them mailed out tomorrow but it would depend if they could even get through. I probably should have thought about it and ordered some where else but I was so happy to finally find them I didn't even blink. And they were very reasonably price, gave me great service and knew exactly what I wanted so its worth waiting a couple extra days.

Our weather continues to break 50+ year old records for high temps. a rain squall hits once in a while but so far the storms over southern Oregon and Northern Calif have missed us. But it is a long way to spring so I am enjoying it while it lasts.

My hand has finally returned to normal size but the tendons are still sore but considering how it looked and felt...... I want to ask the doctors office what the cultures showed. But as they threw every IV antibiotic on the shelf at me I think it was covered.

Hi all. Back from the MS Cruise. We had rain early morning as we were coming into port in St. Kitts and rain in the same port while on the bus heading back to the ship after the tour but other than that, temps were in the mid 80s to lower 90s from when we landed on 1/31 to when we headed home on 2/8. Took my cooling vest and collar and did OK. Nice time. Good educational sessions. Great change of scenery. We had to wait in the airport in San Juan for 4 hours before our flight to Tampa and during that time, I started having an irritation in my lower airway and dry cough. By the time we got to Tampa (another 2 hour layover) I was coughing pretty frequently. When we got back home in a snowstorm, my temp was rising and the cough was becoming productive. Took a while to dig our car out of the snow and the highway crews were scarce so roads were greasy coming home so what should have been a 35 minute ride was over an hour. We got home at 1 am and to bed at 2:30 (fortunately, we were in another timezone the whole trip so it was like 1:30 to us).

Woke after 5 hours of sleep with 102 temp and continuous cough and aching everywhere. Went to walk in (still another month before the appt with my new PCP and they would not see me) , was tested for flu: negative. Lungs were full and temp 102.6. Diagnosed with pneumonia and sent home with inhaler and Z-Pack. Could not safely walk, Dave said I was confused and not making sense, I don't remember a lot about that day except feeling death was a distinct possibility. Dave called the Doc back late afternoon and they told him (when they called back an hour and a half later) that I would be better in the morning and if I was not, go to the ER. Fortunately, my fever came down during the night, walking was more stable and my head was clearer. I still am too sick to try and go to work today.

:) Cherie welcome back. I am sorry you wound up sick. Please take enough time off to really kick it.

Jamie was discharged from the hospital today and went to her Mother's apartment. It is all on the ground floor, but Andy and Jamie's townhouse is two story. The hospital lost her walker so they are supposed to replace it. Andy is going to go there after work to see if he can get the replacement. He is also going to take the wheeled walker with a seat and brakes that I gave her over to her Mother's.

I am getting very little done. I sleep late and get up and on the computer and other than make food do little. I have very little energy. I have my heater set for 72 and it came on a few times last night and tonight is supposed to be colder. It will be cold all week which is a big change from the 70's and 80's.

Sally I like the stories thread and I will eventually write something for it. Right now I'm going for a nap. Jeanie :)

Geesh Cherie, that's a heck of a way to end your cruise. Rest. Take at least 2-3 weeks off work, and stay out of public places cuz the flu could be a disaster at this point if you catch it.
